coughing when lying down

During the day, when I am up and around, it reverts to some slight shortness of breath and slight pressure in the right lung and a tickle/some pressure in the throat). At night,when I first lay down, I have a little shortness of breath but can get to sleep. After about 2-3 hours I suddenly can't breathe and my right lung aches badly, so it wakes me up. I feel like the throat may be constricting also.

Get good neck and head support when you are lying down. A cervical pillow and a flat stable bed will be beneficial. Get adequate sleep and eat well .I also suggest that you seek consult with an ophthalmologist and ENT specialist. Sinus headaches may present with a sensation of fullness or pressure. Eye problems may also manifest with headaches. It is best to have this ruled out first.

They precluded low spinal fluid pressure from the spinal block because my headaches are worse, not better, when lying down. I had MRIs on my brain and all was fine. My blood pressure got quite high and I was prescribed hypotone. I was also put on Trepiline, Tramacet and Maxalt and an amjoxycillin (as I had a UTI). 4 days later I was feeling a bit better and was discharged- still on all the above meds, and so have had to discontinue breastfeeding (am expressing milk though).

My head will often feel hot when I am having a migraine but not like that... and it has never felt worse when lying down... often it feels better lying down, unless the pain is so bad that I can lie down, but lying down doesn't make it worse then, it just doesn't make it any better... so lying down making the pain worse was just the weirdest thing ever.

I have also experienced a loss of sensation in my toes, and can no longer move them well. Since sitting up makes my pain worse, I have been lying down. I am on oxygen at night, but I have noticed in these past few days I become sleepy while lying down, so I put my O2 on to take a nap. The increased O2 wakes me up, and I feel fine, no longer sleepy. It makes sense to me that lying down is causing me the same problems I was having only during sleep.

Elevating the head of your bed could also help if it is acid reflux. Coughing when lying down can also be a symptom of congestive heart failure. When I was undiagnosed with sleep apnea, I would awaken in a violent coughing fit like something had gone down the wrong way, and in retrospect realize those were likely times when my breathing stopped and had struggled to resume. When I am lying down is when it happens. I have had it happen before. I'm on oxygen, and I have spells of hard coughing.

I notice that my Rhinitis gets worse when I'm lying down. I find my nostrils blocked & sniffling when I lie down. I have to use my Neilmed "Lavage," Allegra, and/or Astellin when lying down, even If I did't have nasal congestion prior to lying down. Is this a concern and/or something I should mention to my Otolaryngologist?

I have turbinates hypertrophy that causes post-nasal drip but when I lie down I stop coughing completely and if the cough were caused by post-nasal drip it would get worse lying down. I was wondering if you could help me understanding what is causing this cough and how to get rid of it, thank you.

I never had mucus until recently and I wheeze at times mostly when lying down. Not only can I literately not laugh at all without coughing sometimes, unless very calm even talking presents a problem.

My current coughing fit are somewhat food related such as kiwi fruit (acid feeling inside), pineapple, honey, All Bran also less so sugar tasting foods though I somewhat get coughing when fasting or just lying down and chocolate . I tried Nexium before but it gives me severe muscle cramps.

The pain is like sharp stabbing pain that only lasts 1 sec, and it will make you jolt/shock for 1 sec. This happens randomly but mostly when lying down although it has happened very rarely when I am sitting/standing. Hi, I have a 6 year old Leonberger girl (entire) who has been moaning in the process of laying down and when she has just lain down. I have been to the Vet and had x-Rays done, bloods and also two ten day trials of different pain relief for arthritis but to no avail. I really don't know what to do. She eats, plays and swims with enthusiasm however looks sad. She will often just sit and look at me rather than laying down as if she is asking me to help.

or it could be the fact that the hearts pumping harder to reach down to your toes it was easier when we was standing well on the way down anyway. i have had this sympton for a couple of years now and it only bothers me when it feels like the heart is struggling and it takes your breath.
