I stopped smoking immediately. Recently, over the last few weeks, my throat has been soar/swollen/in pain/tight. What could this be? I would like to see a doctor but I just can't afford it.

In the summer I have to keep my chest bundled up from the AC. In winter, I can go out in the cold and breathe in the cold air with no problem, but if my chest is exposed just a little bit I will start coughing. I have tolerated it since my doctor can't find anything wrong and I am getting frustrated. Does this sound like anything you have ever heard of and is it at all possible that the allergy I had to the folic acid somehow compromised my lungs and is to blame for my coughing now?

Mostly you are asleep, coughing wakes you up, you sit up, you start coughing, coughing, coughing, then suddenly it feels as if your windpipe closes and you breathe, talk, swallow, anything!! This lasts up to 30-35 seconds (which seems like forever). It is very frightening! Eventually you can draw in small breaths and the episode subsides...... Has anyone heard of this? I'm worried there may be an issue with my throat. I've always seemed like it's been hard to breathe. I've had a tonsillectomy and missed fundoplication surgeries. Hello - for the past 4 weeks It has hurt when I breathe in , especially deeply. Sometimes. I'm yawning several times a minute. Chest X-Ray is clear, saturated oxygen 95-96. Temperature is good. Doctor has prescribed antihistamines, inhalers (I'm not asthmatic) He blurted out the possibility of some viral infection of the surrounding lung tissue and gave me Diclofenac ointment. Nothings changed, and repeatedly reaching for deep breaths is annoying. Help!!!

I have been dealing with this issue for years and have been told that nothing is wrong. I can not laugh anymore without coughing violently. I do have a history of allergies and no history of asthma. i used to get the cough from hell. i thought i had cracked a rib in coughing. went to doc and he felt all over there and said it was not cracked. so gave meds. but he did say you can crack ribs just from bad coughing. i get flue shots now and that has cured my cough from hell! i don't think they can do anything for cracked ribs, except maybe wrap them. my husband went around in pain for several months not realizing he had 2 broken ribs. saw them all healed nicely at a ct for something else!

ve been coughing for two weeks now. It all started from me throwing up then a day later I started coughing non-stop. The coughing is starting to hurt my lower right and left abdominal region. I don't weather to go to doctor to get it check or just wait it out to allow it to heal.

Also i have some serious chest pain and i can't breathe properly... When i try to inhale deeply i immediately start coughing. I tried nose drops, corticosteroids and right now im trying allergy pills. Needless to say that it isn't a simple cold. If you need anymore information let me know. Thanks in advance.
