At the beginning of the month I got the upper respiratory virus that was going around so did the kids. all three of the kids stopped the coughing withing a week (so did the co-workers) I have asthma but I cannot get rid of the productive cough.

I have been coughing since September. I caught a bad flu and after that I can't stop coughing. I also went to Asia for the first time in October and with the recent typhoons there, could I have made it worse. I used Biaxin (anti-biotics), started with Symbicort (puffer), then on Alvesco and now I am on Nasacort, Advair and Aerius. Is this a post virus cough, asthma or something else...your thoughts?

My husband still has it, and has to sit up in bed at night because he has difficulty catching his breath when his coughing episode happens. He went to the doctor last week and he only prescribed a cough med even though he said he heard a wheeze at the end of the expiration. Now, my 5 year old has gotten it again, same cough,-it is worse during the night with her coughing so long and hard that she has tears in her eyes. She may even have a low grade fever, but again only at night.

An awful cold virus was going through my house last week, and this weekend was my turn. Fever, headache, congestion and cough. I've been taking Tylenol every 4 hours since Saturday to try and keep my fever down. Fortunately, I had my checkup this morning and my doctor said everything seems fine, keep taking the Tylenol for fever and add Robitussin DM at night to help me get at least some sleep.

I was given albuterol, and the first time I used it my lungs did open up (max FEV went from 350 to 475), I could breath better, but I also started coughing up some green phlegm. after a couple of days I had a low grade fever on and off. I went back, was given a z pack, and that seemed to help- no more coughing etc. But within the week I started to have night sweats and episodes of fever a couple of times a day, and have been coughing, sometimes productive, but mostly a dry cough.

The baby will be fine. Keep the baby in your area. W my last baby I had my 6 yro would be sick sometimes & U just have to keep them apart. My friend had 4 kids who were sick when baby came home & they couldn't hold/kiss the baby. Is the grandpa coughing bcuz of bad lungs/age or is he really sick. If he's going to be around the baby get dr masks for him to wear. Wash hands & hand sanitizer. Use a humidifier 24/7 when baby comes home it helps a lot.

A virus like a cold. Just breathing is not likely to do it, however.

Hi i have a 12 year old male staffie who has had 4 seizures over the past 4/5 months other than this and a few fatty lumps he eats well runs around and is very happy but for the past few days has started coughing normally first thing in the morning and when excited cough sounds like he has some thing stuck in his throat any advice ??

I started off with a cold and like a coughing virus. I was tested for every virus the doctor could think of and it came back with nothing wrong with me. For about 3 weeks now, I have been having this sunburned feeling, sore throat, pulsating head and mild gastrointestinal issues. Hi all! I'm currently 6 weeks 5 days and oh man... The pleasure of morning sickness! Other than the nausea and vomiting, I'm also coughing a lot and the phlegm is making my chest and nose super congested. I've read that you'll have more mucus build up during pregnancy, so is it normal to feel this congested during the first trimester? Any advise on how to make the congestion better?

Oh my gosh, I could have posted this myself a few weeks ago. My 14 month old had exactly the same thing...started with red eyes, into a high fever, no appetite, cough and runny nose. I had him seen twice and it is just a virus. The cough is just finally going away now. Make sure you keep him hydrated...that can account for the stools. Pedialight or milk is fine..not water as they need to electrolights. I can second what Margy said..this is a very very bad year for virus'.

Am 32 weeks and my daughter and husband got the virus today or we found out today and am kinda scare cuz IDC if am gonna get it if its going to affect the baby its Saturday and Dr office is close has anyone gone trough this???

Two weeks ago, I had this strange cold, one day running nose, one day coughing, one day heavy muscus then coughing fits sometimes initiated by particular foods and sometimes no eating or cold air and night coughing fits( not every night) were more harsh with lots of phlegm and stomache gas and spitting out. Hi, I think your biggest concern should be about her getting bacterial pneumonia. It might be just a virus for now, but a virus can lead to bacterial pneumonia.
