I went to the E.R a couple of days ago,i was diagnosed with the flu & a stomach virus, was given antibiotics and since i've been coughing up rust colored phlegm.Am i coughing up my lung or maybe this is a result of the Meds i was prescribed have Any clue as to why rust colored phlegm possible Dark blood would be evident when i cough?
What started as a sore throat has affected my lungs, difficulty breathing,(mainly exhaling)(raspy sound in throat when exhaling) coughing up rust, white and yellow mucus. I start to feel better, and then bam it gets worse. now it feels like there is gross mucus trapped in my lungs, & i dont know how to get it out. Sometimes after i cough, the phlegm is so bad it makes me sick to my stomach. I dont want to go to Dr. to be told its just a virus.
Okay so it started almost half a week ago I'd say.. I wasn't feeling sick at all, but for some reason I just started coughing up a lot of phlegm.. clearish to yellow colored. I don't smoke cigarettes, only on the occassional weekend. I do smoke pot.
Anyways I thought the phelgm coughing up mighta been caused by some resin I was smoking, but they said that was black phlegm, not clearish yellow...
So a few days pass of coughing up phlegm, and now I'm sitting here.. irritated...
Is it normal, or usual for a heavy marijuana smoker (numerous times daily for 6+ years), to be coughing up clear phlegm with dark gray/brown globular matter encased in it, mainly in the mornings and randomly in small amounts throughout the day? In the mornings there are much more dark pieces in clear phlegm, and when it randomly happens throughout the day, it is just small specks or chunks encased in clear phlegm.
A couple of days ago, I contract something outside and the next day, I began having serious chills, stuffy nose, chest feeling stuffy, etc. Then the next day, it got worse (and yes, I took medicine for flu/cold) with coughing up (I'm presuming) some bloody mucus several times (it's more like a rust color), dry coughing mostly, severe chest congestion (Robatusson {sp?} doesn't work), and severe congestion in my nose.
Because my dog interacts with other dogs a lot, when he developed a "cough" I immediately took him to the vet. He had no fever, is eating and drinking normally and his activity level is normal - he doesn't at all act like a sick dog. I have kept him away from other dogs to avoid getting them sick. The vet diagnosed him with kennel cough and put him on Doxycycline 100 mg - he takes 1 1/2 pills twice a day. He started them on Tuesday.He has also had a Bordetella vaccine.
Since about the second or third week post quitting I started coughing up this weird white/gray phlegm that has a terrible, bitter acrid taste that coats my mouth and back of my throat almost like an oil. Similar to bronchitis sputum but not green or yellow. There's no tar in it, no black bits, and it's always a small amount but it's once a day, every day. Usually after I eat. I hate it, it's disgusting and I'm not sure why it's still coming up! Anyone else?
Is she doing the same activity at school before she eats? Some of the newer juices gie me the same reaction-is she drinking before shes eating?
You really need to be your own detective on this. Start with lunch and work backwrds. Since it is on on school days-that does rule out the home.
To me (being an allergic asthmatic-but no MD) it does sound like an allergy.
Tercher also need to be in the loop on what she is doing before the meal.
Obviously it repetitive.
hi my dad constantly spits up white sticky phlegm all day, every day! He will not go and see a doctor but he also finds it very hard to breathe. he did used to smoke and stopped almost a year ago and this has been happening since then. It seems to come in waves of coughing spells and then no coughs. I have been coughing up phlegm that is mostly white/clear with small amounts of a yellowish color and small brown flecks. When I lay down I can hear myself breathing/wheezing and makes it impossible to sleep, not to mention coughing fits making my partner unable to sleep. I have been taking antihistamines before bed and it seems to help calm my cough.
Im 17 year old female, I currently have a blocked nose and sore throat common symptoms of a cold. It has been 5 days now and i still have it. I have been coughing up phlegm and only twice has it happened where i have coughed up phlegm with streaks of blood in it. I do not smoke, take drugs or drink. Can you help me?
I have been coughing up phlegm daily for around 7 years. I've tried antibiotics several times without any success. I've had x-rays and mri scans but nothing showed up. Around 18 months ago my voice started to change. I was then prescribed omeprazole 20 mg capsules which make a slight difference and my voice returned to normal. But I still have to tap my chest and often have to get someone to hit my back to dislodge the phlegm which is milky white/ beige globules and quite a lot of it.
sound like your lungs are clearing and you may have bronco or asthma or something see your doctor some times when you stop smokeing this happen.
You should go to the doctor to be checked out because if you stpped cold turkey it can be something More serious then you might think
