It feels like I can breathe out 80% and then after that I have to push really hard to breath out more (it feels like REALLY dense phlegm) , so I just breath out only 80% which is enough for most day to day activities. Sometimes I will try to cough out the phlegm and it will get coughed up about halfway so I have to swallow it. When I do try to cough it up it gets A LOT worse and a tiny little itch in the back of my throat makes me want to keep on coughing.
The next day I felt like my throat was swollen, and it was slightly difficult to swallow, I also started spitting yellowish phlegm with either tiny spots or strands of blood in them. At this point I went to see the doctor, and he gave me something for my nausea, and ibuprofen for my throat. He agreed my throat/lungs must have been very dry because of all the smoke I was breathing, so he asked me to stay well hydrated, which I have done since.
Still had phlegm in my throat but no fever, no pain, and no coughing.
Week 4: Same symptoms. I went back to the doctor and he said as long as my phlegm is clear not to worry.
Week 5: Went to another doctor for a second opinion. She said my throat is red and gave me some antibiotics called zithromax.
Week 6: Less Phlegm but my ears started hurting and I had some pain under my jaw. Like 2 lines. Went back to the doctor and she gave me a nasal spray to reduce the phlegm in my throat.
I had cold/flu in Dec 2007, since then i've been clonstantly clearing my throat of phlegm, it is clear phlegm. I'm not sure i'm meant to cough it up or not, but i'm scared to swallow it made me gag and a few months after my cold which scared me.
This morning, I cleared my throat as usual, but 3 times there were traces of blood in it. It's still clear but just with little bits of blood in it, one was a streak of blood. There was alot more clear phlegm.
Last week I had an irritation at the back of my throat that made me cough and spit green and brown phlegm. This alarmed me and so I went to my loca doctor. The doctor prescribed me medicine for allergy and an antibiotic by the name of augmentin. She said that I should take a course of a week and see if I improve and if not I should go back to her for some further tests. Now I have seen an improvement in my health I.e.
All pet scans are clear and x-rays clear still I have a cough that sometimes is that of a heavy smoker. Coughing brings up clear mucus. Other than this cough I feel great.
Any suggestions on how to take care of the cough?
It seems to come in waves of coughing spells and then no coughs. I have been coughing up phlegm that is mostly white/clear with small amounts of a yellowish color and small brown flecks. When I lay down I can hear myself breathing/wheezing and makes it impossible to sleep, not to mention coughing fits making my partner unable to sleep. I have been taking antihistamines before bed and it seems to help calm my cough.
On 09th June i quit smoking. Initially for 2-3 weeks there was coughing with phlegm coming out. Now i am in 8th week after quit smoking. Now days i have throat pain while swallow and rarely phlegm coming out (no cough). Along with that slight cold (but not continuous). There is slight body pain from on yesterday.
Before i used to breath through mouth. But from on last couple of weeks i trying to practice to breath through nose. Yesterday i found some while particle on palatine tonsil.
it occasionally starts as a dry cough, but i have the cough because of all the (what im guessing is) phlegm in my throat. i usually have the cough no matter how small the meal is or what i eat, but the bigger/greasier the meal the worse it is.
having chiari, all the coughing gives me a horrible headache. a lot of the time the cough gets strong enough that i gag.
think this is this gerd or acid reflux?
is it fixable? im not inclined to take antacids because of how bad they are for you.
Okay so it started almost half a week ago I'd say.. I wasn't feeling sick at all, but for some reason I just started coughing up a lot of phlegm.. clearish to yellow colored. I don't smoke cigarettes, only on the occassional weekend. I do smoke pot.
Anyways I thought the phelgm coughing up mighta been caused by some resin I was smoking, but they said that was black phlegm, not clearish yellow...

I have been coughing up phlegm daily for around 7 years. I've tried antibiotics several times without any success. I've had x-rays and mri scans but nothing showed up. Around 18 months ago my voice started to change. I was then prescribed omeprazole 20 mg capsules which make a slight difference and my voice returned to normal. But I still have to tap my chest and often have to get someone to hit my back to dislodge the phlegm which is milky white/ beige globules and quite a lot of it.
I feel a lump of phlegm in the back of my throat whenever I swallow. Sometimes it feels thick enough that I bring it out of my throat and spit it out. When spit out, the phlegm is typically clear or white.
Finally I saw my primary care about 3 weeks ago. He said I have a post-nasal drip, and that I should have seen him when I first had the cold. He prescribed a 5-day dose of Zepac (azithromycin), an anti-biotic.
sound like your lungs are clearing and you may have bronco or asthma or something see your doctor some times when you stop smokeing this happen.
You should go to the doctor to be checked out because if you stpped cold turkey it can be something More serious then you might think
The other problem is that i feel like food is sticking in my upper esophagus but when I drink water, there is nothing. Also, sometimes, when I swallow, my throat tickles and it makes my caugh. But i can abstain myself from coughing. Now I'm scared these are signs of ALS or something like that.
in the mornings, i experience heaving/gagging when coughing. in the beginning, it hurt to swallow and i experienced a deep barking cough (especially when lying down), but its starting to ease.

I am not sure if this matters but in the first month i was dizzy. but the room was spinning but then it went away on it own. that is when all the coughing started. Then started producing a lot of thick, white phlegm in the back of my throat.
The white white phlegm has not went away yet. It is very thick!
