coughing out something

today during class i yawned than suddenly something dropped out of the back of my throat and it felt like I had swolled a ball. My lympth notes swelled up almost immediately after and when I went to look in the mirror it appeared that part of my tonsil was missing. Now a year ago I did have a case tonsilitis and I think that may have something to do with it but I'm really not sure what is wrong. Any information would be STRONGLY appreciated. Thanks bunches.

Syncope is the medical term for "passing out" and fainting or passing out with harsh coughing is not uncommon, whatever the cause of the cough. The cough may be due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but you should not assume that. If you smoke cigarettes or marijuana, that could be the cause. But, you should check out the cough with your doctor on this and, at least, have a chest x-ray. Most chronic coughs can at least be controlled, if not totally eliminated.

I went out on the porch to try to breathe fresh air but it felt like something was caught in my throat, my face flushed and I couldn't inhale. I felt dizzy and sat, my friend gave me a water and the first sips were hard to get down because my throat felt it was closed. I'm still wheezing on exhale, coughing and have a little chest tightness and my throat still doesn't feel normal. My peak flow was high, in the 400's. What caused this?

My tiny four pound Maltese/Poodle cross has been coughing and I was wondering if someone has any ideas. He is about 8 1/2 and has had issues with his behavoir. He won't let us have him groomed without him trying to bite us or get his nails trimmed, so every four months or so we have to have him knocked out to have this done. I am having a very difficult time finding out if my breathing problems are asthma or something else. Husband has spells where he gets a build up of sinus drainage, then starts coughing very deeply, he turns bright red and passes out and shakes like he is having ceasures. I am suffering from dry throat, post nasal drip, occassiinal sneezing and coughing but my allergy test came out negative. Lately i feel bloated, and upper abdominal discomfort and hunger pains even after eating. ll eventually understand that you do what you do for him out of love. It sounds like there maybe something else going on in your husbands body that the dr's haven't seen yet or diagnosed yet. Talk to your dr. about getting him into see some sort of specialist who may be able to help him better than a family doctor. How long does he pass out for when this happens? I went to the pharmacy to see if i could get something to help and the pharmacist told me all I could take was mucinex..... and it just made it worse... I can feel my stomach and my sides strain when i cough so i just wanted to make sure it can't hurt my baby. ..... As an ex smoker and tobacco user, I am paranoid of throat cancer- but uninsured or more correctly very poorly insured so meds and doctor visits are all out of pocket. Mentioned this to primary care provider, he looked in my throat (the part he can see) and felt the lymph nodes- nothing unusual and didn't seem to be particularly concerned. So- my questions. Do you think a vist to an ENT is warranted?
