Coughing in winter

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing in winter

coughing

Avatar n tn Another Dr told us there is no way it's asthma because it would get worse laying down. Missed 2 months of school last winter and 3 months this winter. Looking for answers or suggestions.
Avatar m tn Hi there, The common causes of blood in cough are bronchitis, irritation of the throat from violent coughing, blood clot in lungs, tuberculosis of lungs, vasculitis etc.Though you do not have any symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath you should see your doctor and get evaluated. A clinical examination and tests like X-ray chest ,sputum culture and smear, blood counts may be necessary. Further tests will depend on the test results. Treatment will be specific based on the cause.
Avatar n tn This time, I played indoor soccer on turf grass and felt a little burning sensation in my chest and had difficulty breathing as well as coughing. A few weeks later, and I'm still coughing. Also, I'm only 24 years old in case that helps. I don't smoke or drink and am healthy other than this cough. Are they both dry coughs related (soccer vs cold)? What could be the cause? Any suggestions on how to treat it? Hope someone can help! Thanks.
Avatar m tn It is normal for our body to experience some illness once in a while because our body is made that way. And you are right in saying that we should be grateful that it is not as debilitating as cancer. Take care and do keep us posted.
20787488 tn?1517914249 Cold and flu are both in season now. Both are transferred in the same way. Usually droplets. This means that if you see someone coughing or sneezing, stay away from them as what is spewing out of their mouth or nose could and probably does contain cold or flu virus. They should try to stay home for other's protection as you are contagious for about a week. But if out, they should cough into elbow and same for sneezes or cover with something when sneezing or coughing.
Avatar m tn I understand that her allergies may act up in the summer, but her coughing is year-round (we live where we have winter from Nov.-Mar. so the grasses are dead part of the year). They have diagnosed her with pneumonia and found a shady spot on her lung (our vet thinks this may be scar tissue from a previous bout of pneumonia). We got her from a shelter (a stray), so we do not know her background. Any suggestions on holistic remedies I can try, or other recommendations of what to consider?
Avatar n tn For the past 6 years I have developed a chronic dry cough in the fall season until it snows in the winter. When I blow my nose, there is a sticky white mucus that comes out. I have been told by the allergist that this is asthma and allergies. I am taking 2 puffs of QVAR in the morning and night, half a tablet of reactine and singular at night, and Avamys in the morning. During bouts of coughing, I have tried taking my ratio-salbutamol puffer but it doesn't seem to help.
Avatar f tn HAVE GERD FOR WHICH I AM TAKING PILOSEC OFF AND ON. IN THE WINTER I GET COUGHING SPELLS WHEN GOING OUT INTO THE COLD. IN THE SUMMER I START COUGHING WHEN TURNING ON AUTO AIR CONDITIONING. HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING AND TIRING.
Avatar f tn Hi i have a 12 year old male staffie who has had 4 seizures over the past 4/5 months other than this and a few fatty lumps he eats well runs around and is very happy but for the past few days has started coughing normally first thing in the morning and when excited cough sounds like he has some thing stuck in his throat any advice ??
Avatar n tn hi catie many thanks for your comment but i dont take anything for it i,m dreading the winter as i know it will get worse then the doctor will put me on antibioticts and say i have a chest infection.
Avatar f tn We have the air conditioner on and it is only 70 degrees in our room. The past few days we have been able to see our choc labs breath. We have never seen that before except outside during the winter. Our golden retriever - well we can't see his breath. Could there be something wrong with him?
Avatar n tn I know I get minor nosebleeds in the dead of winter after breathing in super dry cold air all winter long. If however the blood is coming up from your lungs when you cough that might be a different story, but that too can be benign and be caused from busting a vessel or too from hard/prolonged coughing. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar m tn 10 years later I experience this again, namely the blood, although not a big amount of it, just a dry throat and a slight blood while spitting in the morning (also during winter) however, the winter in my region is much warmer (5 Celsius) than what is at the first place where I had the encounter a decade ago. I do not drink nor smoke (I tried them once or twice but I'm certainly not a smoker or drinker by any means). I eat healthy too practice light sports whenever possible.
Avatar f tn No, I wouldn't worry. I smoked for twice as long and even though I did have bronchitis once, in mid-winter, that was it and I'm coming up on 2 years quit. It sounds like the Advair is doing its job. Clearing your throat could also be from the advair or could be phlegm from your quit.
Avatar m tn The usual soar throat, t sinus problems, runny nose, coughing, but i got back up to health in time for school. But another symptom arose and has stayed with me for the past 2 weeks. A tickle in my throat. I don't know what's causing it, but it's just there. It's NOT making me cough at all, either. It's just an uncomfortable tickle feeling in the back of my throat. Any advice on what it is or how I can get rid of it? Thanks.
Avatar f tn This is my second sinus infection this winter. Coughing non stop and sneezing. Worried my baby is gonna be stressed or something from it all? Can my baby be harmed in anyway? Can't take anything.
Avatar m tn my guess is that its just the winter cold-i wouldnt sweat it -its too late for ARS anyway.
Avatar n tn 00 pm now on the same day and she is still coughing non stop but added to that she is having soreness to touch in her neck, front and back, her upper chest and even her arm pits. She said that it almost feels like someone is choking her although she is not having problems swallowing. This is a new symptom that started about a half hour ago. My question are: Can this new symptom be from the medication she took almost 12 hrs ago? Do you have any idea what this can be?
Avatar n tn when i was pushing my car this winter and i had a pop in my head and it hasn't really gone away it hurts to this even from coughing what can I do?
1425559 tn?1282786607 t remember any coughing at all. My coughing stopped in fact. I remember all my senses returning and I could taste and smell again. I also found I had enough wind to start a running program, and within a year I was running 10k races and breaking 50 minutes. These are the wonderful promises of stopping smoking. One of the last things we were told in our smoking cessation class was "we're all one puff away from a pack a day". Keep on keeping on bama!!!
Avatar f tn My husband has been coughing for at least three-four months and its getting worst everyday. He went to a doctor a month into the coughing and was "diagnosed" with broncitus. Two months later he's still coughing even more. He does cough up phelm, but its no blood in it (yet)! He's never smoked, never drank, 46 years old, he works "graveyard shift" at a place producing product labels. What could it be?
Avatar f tn She used her inhaler and allergy medicine throughout the winter that year. The following summer and the year following she had no asthma symptoms. Last winter she starting having symptoms again which was a usually a cough that led to respiratory infection. If we caught the cough early enough with her inhaler (xopenex) and allergy med (zyrtec) we could avoid the infections. We made it all summer with no problems or use of meds.
Avatar f tn The only symptom that worsens for me in winter is the numbness / disordered sensation in my limbs, especially my left hand. The sensations intensify and turn my hand into a useless, clumsy stump. It takes a few hours to thaw out and feel like my usual normal (still abnormal but not as bad). It was worst when cleaning ice and snow off my car in minus 40 Celsius weather in northern Alberta. Now that I'm in Calgary, and have a garage :) , I expect not to suffer quite so much.
Avatar f tn I cant put my shoes on hardly anymore because of the belly so I wear sandals. We had two days of rain and temps in the low 60s. So I bet it was from that...
Avatar m tn In last few years I frequently, especially in winter, had cold and nasal congestions. During last few weeks I regularly had headache along with cold. Two weeks ago I got cough as well, but not more than twice a day lasting more than 1.5 minutes a day. However, the cough was absent in last two weeks, though I had regular headache and intermittent nasal congestions. To my astonishment, two days ago suddenly I coughed fresh blood.
