Got 'em bad. Recently had dosage upped to 1600 riba daily, from 1200, as apparently HGB count wasn't going down much. Now I've got coughing fits, coughing from the heels, coughing till dizzy. Occasional streak of blood in phlegm, occasional nosebleeds now too.
I think I'm going to have to cut back on the riba. I can't keep coughing like this, and I can't stand any more dextromethorphan, which doesn't seem to touch this cough.
What to do? Anybody?
A week ago she was perfectly healthy, and had never had allergies of any kind. For the past week now, she has had terrible coughing fits, mostly through the night. She will cough for minutes at a time, sometimes almost completely losing her breath. She's lucky if she can go five minutes between fits. She hasn't slept in a week. She complains that it feels like there are thorns in her throat. It seems to get worse in a few rooms throughout the house.
The fits are much worse at night and first thing in the morning but continue throughout the day. When i cough it sends pain along my back and along my sides to my belly. I have spoken to the doctor but she has said i cannot be prescribed medicine. Should I take paracetamol? I've tried spoons of honey but no improvement shown.
Any advice?
When I go into my coughing fits, It makes me very dizzy, and feels like I am going to pass out. In fact, I have to support myself. Immediately after my coughing fit, I can't get my breath, it is like my airway is shut off. Kinda scary! If I remain calm, I can regain myself. This happens more in the morning, and evening, averaging about 15 fits a day over the last three weeks.
Hi im 30yo and for the past few months i have had a lump on the right side of my neck almost on the spot that your pulse is in your neck, it is hard and round in shape. i also have coughing fits where it feels like i have a tickle in my throat and i cough until i can hardly breath and dry-reach, have also been rather tired i just want to know what it is and should i be worried?
For the second year in a row I have contracted these deep coughs that come in large doses. I know from last year that i will soon blackout, so i drop whatever I'm doing and sit down. Last year I was prescribed antibiotics, steroids, and an inhaler. Knocked it right out last time. This year, i was prescribed the same course of meds, and while I regained my voice, and the frequency diminished, I am still coughing to blackout.
It is due to irritation of a branch of the vagus nerve, which then reduces the heart rate. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the blood or the emphysema. Usually there is a co-factor, which is low blood pressure. The technical term for what took place is a "vasovagal syncopal episode".
It's nothing to be overly concerned about.

swollen glands and a feeling that my airway was in a spasm. The cough also started then. Coughing fits that last for min. tears rolling down my face gagging and coughing to the point of vomitting. The sore throat went away after 2 weeks but the cough is still here. I have wheezing that is not present all the time. I also have gurgling sounds in my left lung that also are not constant. I have seen my MD and did levaquin and steroids. The steroids seemed to help for a while.
After a couple of weeks, the severity of the fits subsided, but for the first time in my life I had asthma symptoms, wheezing and coughing. When I was finally able to move out of that house, the wheezing stopped, and the coughing also stopped, except in two cases. First, there'a a month or two ever fall when I cough, so some new seasonal allergy. The thing that bothers me, though, is that I'm no longer capable of laughing hard, because if I do, it makes me cough.
ve been concerned for a while now. He, quite regularly, gets very bad coughing fits while he sleeps. He snores badly and to me it sounds like he's "forgetting" to swallow his saliva and after some has build up in his mouth he starts choking a little and goes into a very bad coughing fit. He's even thrown up twice because of the violent nature of those coughs. He's not getting the sleep he needs and it sounds very painful to me.
This was back in April of this year, in mid august i had the flu quite badly, infected chest, fever, fatigue and coughing fits(no sore throat). About 3 weeks later i was fine, also was coughing up some fluid but dissapeared over those 3 weeks. Then around late october i had noticed swollen lymph nodes on my neck, went to the doctor 2 weeks later and she also noticed i had swollen tonsils and they were quite red.
Not just coughing slightly, but full blown gag cough fits that end with me throwing up. I finally get to an allergist two day's later, thank you weekends. He told me he thinks I have a virus but didnt say which. Gave me yet again antibiotics, a zpack that never seems to work for me (which I have always been told dont work for viruses) and he also said that the "allergy" I claimed was actually symptoms of the oncoming virus.
But the last 3 weeks or so one of the starts to wheez as if something was stuck in their throats (much like a cat sounds when they cough up a hairball). They do this for a few seconds and then they are fine. Is this normal or should I be concerned?
One out of ten coughing fits ends with me vomiting .... I guess it would be best described as a clear foamy form of phlegm. I do experience hot and cold flashes, sometimes it helps my breathing to step outside and sometimes it makes it worse. At the end of these fits, I am always wheezing. Walking more than a few feet or heavy lifting leaves me short of breath and tired. I rarely have any nasal discharge. I'm slightly warmer than what is normal, but still well under 100.
I also have irregular bowel movements - as well as painful bowel movements, random leg and arm pains, shortness of breath, regular coughing fits, a very weak immune system and chronic fatigue. These are to name a few. I have thought on multiple occasions that it could be cancer as it seems to be getting worse.
Well today I feel so much worse than I did on Monday. I am having coughing fits to where I almost pass out, still super dizzy (even when not coughing) and my throat is even more sore and I hardly can talk (kids are enjoying that part lol) I think I have bronchitis. So glad I go see my primary doctor tomorrow. Are any of you ladies experiencing this?
I have had a chronic cough for 4 weeks now and still coughing. Just yesterday after I coughed, my right side rib was hurting alot. It hurts to move, breathe, and cough. The pain also goes to my back on the right side and up to my armpit. Is it possible that I have cracked a rib from coughing too hard?
You're going to be sore down there eventually regardless lol. I'm 22 weeks and baby weighs a pound and sometimes it HURTS lol she gets like in my pelvis and OW. Everything is stretching so soreness is normal. And yes, sneezing and coughing can make you sore lol. Even if you don't have coughing fits and pull a muscle, you're already tender so a cough or sneeze can yank a ligament and hurt a bit.
Well this cough and soar thraot seems be improving lets say 40 percent but I still have coughing fits. During these two or 1.5 months I have on and off soar throat and this coughing which is not leaving me alone and I also have fever on and off.
what are my chances that I contracted HIV and now I am sero converting? I am planning to do a full panel STD tests in January second week.
Two weeks ago, I had this strange cold, one day running nose, one day coughing, one day heavy muscus then coughing fits sometimes initiated by particular foods and sometimes no eating or cold air and night coughing fits( not every night) were more harsh with lots of phlegm and stomache gas and spitting out. I saw a doctor and prescribed Averin along with 3 other medicines-Lansoprazole, Tulobuterol tape, Cetirizine but with no apparent effect. What to do now?
