green and yellow flem should not be coming up from allergy unless it is stomach acid. Usually allergy is clear mucus. I'm not a doctor but I wonder if it is a bacteria infection. Sorry I don't know the correct answer. Maybe the doctors are correct too. I just personally haven't heard of colored mucus from allergy. Allergy can cause mucus that can lead to bacteria infection too. See another doctor.
Next day along with green , came a strange orangey /yellow mucus came out constant for a day , then green again. During this I had low grade fever to moderate and felt horrible. Back to Dr. office and still had green , and swollen nasal lining etc. Then a 6 day Zpack. Still having same symptoms but the green got a little less with each antibiotic. On the 18th of january bacterium for 10 days. Tomorrow is the last day and the green is much better but is still there.
Thank you for your quick response. I know it's not bacterial because I'm not coughing up a lot d green mucus or have that drowning feeling in my lungs. I think it's just my Annual Bronchitis kicking in it has always started during late fall early winter. But I am going to be setting a doctor appointment so I can get more of those Tessalon pearls.
It may be a virus but usually if you cough up green or yellow mucus it could be a bacterial infection. Do you have a fever? Is it a loose cough?
I went back to the clinic today and the doctor gave me antibiotics after I told him I coughed up some green gunk. The doctor said my lungs sounded clear. However the amount of pieces of lime green sticky mucus I have been coughing up has increased. My main concern is that I have pneumonia. I have been hospitalized for pneumonia three times and have received the vaccine.
Hello ladies. Please respond. I am 11 wks + 5 days. I have had a bartholin cyst off & on for almost 3 years. It's been drained twice. Since I've been pregnant it's gotten bigger and has been draining a green colored mucus (sorry tmi). I've expressed concern to my midwife and she didn't seem to think it was a big deal. I don't see how green discharge isn't an issue! Should I get a 2nd opinion? Will this hurt my baby?

It can be an indication of a bacterial infection. Especially if the green nasal mucus is accompanied by fever and pain and it has been experienced for several days. A bacterial infection under those circumstances should be treated by a physician who would probably recommend an antibiotic. Otherwise the infection could linger on for days or weeks.
If you don't have white spots in your throat (indicating strep) or yellow or green mucus, I would say it's just a common cold. I always feel worse in the morning and at night in terms of my allergies or when I'm sick.
Hi, green mucus is usually associated with viral infections, generally, mucolytics along with antibiotics (to prevent bacterial superimposed infections) are prescribed. Try steam inhalation along with ambroxol and bronchodilator (terbutaline, salbutamol etc) to ease out coughing.
Better consult doctor to rule out bronchoconstriction. Prolonged cough should be investigated.
I have a 3 yr old little girl who has been experiencing extreme mucus and coughing spells for over a month. It all began on January 9th when she came down with the common cold.
