Common Questions and Answers about Coughing for over a year

coughing

Avatar n tn I have had continuous nasal drip for over a year. My sinuses are clear(Just came from an ent specialist who went in and looked). I've tried at least 4 different antibiotics, 4sprays, etc. all with no change. It is nearly impossible to swallow and the coughing it is causing has caused me to tear the last nissan stomach surgery I had. The ent said to go back to my regular Dr.(who, in my opinion)is less qualified for this.
Avatar n tn ve experienced a constant tickling cough for about ... actually a little over a year now. Every time i cough i produce some type of mucus that is always clear or almost white and usually very thick. I've been to a few doctors but never had any tests done really besides xrays and doctors listening to my lungs and all that stuff. I'd really like this issue to be fixed if possible would appreciate anyone's input on this especially if anyone has experienced this.
Avatar n tn My brother had his thyroid removed over a year ago due to cancer, all he does all day is cough and wipe the flim from the whole in his throat, is there any thing that will help?, he has been like this ever since the operation and all the coughing wears him out.
Avatar m tn Having reflux issues for over a year now. i've have 2 upper endoscopies which are negative. i usually wake up with a sore throat, if i eat any fatty, oily foods, or spicy foods, or acidic foods then soon after i get burning into my throat and burns for hours with coughing..... ppis and pepcid/zantac do not work and maybe even make it worse. Don't know what to do for relief and doctors have no clue. they say if endoscopy is negative then nothing else for them to do.
Avatar m tn A few months later, the other cat also started having asthma problems, and also got started on steroids. Over the summer of 2011, I went to Washington for about 3 weeks to do some field work (I am a structural geology grad. student). When I got back, I was home for about a month before I had to leave for Minnesota to do some analyses on my rock samples. I remember while my wife was driving me to the airport I had a scratchy throat and felt like I was getting a cold.
Avatar m tn There are no other symptoms, no rash, no problem breathing yet, But coughing dry and gets really bad at night, also after coughing for too long during the night i get a bit of chest pain then it goes away. Cough medicines don't do a thing, i started taking sleeping medicines so i can sleep at night.
Avatar f tn Go to a doctor! You should have gone when it persisted for more than a few days. Coughing up blood could be a lot of things. The one that immediately comes to mind is tuberculosis. If it is, you'll need a year, I believe it is, of antibiotics (do take the ENTIRE course even when you feel better, if you do end up with this or we can end up with another drug-resistant strain). Even if it wasn't one of those two, coughing up blood is not a good thing.
Avatar n tn A little over a week ago, I started with a a cough that, seemed like a normal cold. I had a stuffy nose but, nothing to really worry about. Now, my head is always hurting from the coughing, Im coughing up mucus constantly. My Lungs hurt so very badly. It is the worst of all. I cant even sleep because I feel pressure on them when Im laying down. My upper back hurts but, that might be from my lungs. When I finally can get a few hours of rest, I wake up from not breathing. Its scary.
Avatar f tn So a little background information, I was bulimic for many years, from around age 12 till age 23, with a few years of recovery in there. I’ve been recovered for over a year now. At the end of February I had what my doctor thought was a stomach virus, with really bad stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting. I got over that in a few days, but the stomach pain lingered and I lost my appetite for a while and it hasn’t come back fully.
Avatar n tn ve had this for over a year now, I honestly though that clearing up Pericoronitis would fix the issue but it hasn't done anything at all...
Avatar m tn m posting this for my husband (40, 277, in good physical condition previously, with physically demanding job), who has been having medical issues for a year now. It began with waking up in the morning with pressure in his lower back that was remedied by going to the bathroom. Bending, twisting, picking up things, etc. never bothered him, which seemed to indicate it's not a back problem. Then it moved on to constipation, & when he could go his stool was flattened.

Avatar n tn Ive been coughing and spitting out yellow to green mucus for 7 days now what should I do ?is this a normal cold ?
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have had it a while since you mentioned you had problems dating back to over a year ago. How long are you prescribed antibiotics for? It usually takes a much longer treatment course when the disease is advanced to the point of causing brain lesions. Is your doctor knowledgeable about lyme?
1839751 tn?1343843485 I am extremely limited in the dates I can choose for the procedure because I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old and he travels constantly for work. I need to schedule for when he will be here to help me. So now of course I come down with a head cold right before the LP, with plenty of coughing and sneezing. I'm concerned as I read that coughing/straining afterwards can reopen the hole and cause spinal fluid leak.
Avatar n tn My wife (57 year old) has had a chronic cough accompanied by occassional sneezing and gagging for over 3 years. She has been to every specialist we can think of - lung, gastro, GP, heart, throat, allergist, etc. She just had tests done for Gerd which included the Bravo monitor and the test was negative. She has had numeorus x-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds and any other tests that can look inside her lungs, ears, nose, esaphogus, stomach & throat.
Avatar m tn Hello. I'm 18 years old and I've been coughing continuously for about a year. The cough has changed a lot since it started, and now It seems to be entirely due to to mucus build up around my lungs. The cough is stronger before I sleep through when I wake up or when it wakes me up (when it is the worst). At times, the mucus coughed out is either thick and yellow (but not much is coughed out) or it is clear and runny but is coughed out in half a mouthfuls.
Avatar f tn I have had a scab that I never really knew what originally caused it to be there, for about a year and a half. I remember in the beginning i accidentally scraped it off on something a couple of times and thats when I realized it had already been there much longer than any other scab i have ever had. It's small and right in the middle of the back of my hand.
Avatar n tn Well, we think one parent is very controlling so when the child is in a less controlled environment he feels free to bite - we are structured but we have 15 other children where as at home he has one sibling. We used a teething ring around his neck for a day or two then stickers for rewards at the end of each day. He did bite again once but last week no bites! I hope I am not jinxing myself!!
Avatar f tn Doctor, I am a 30 yr old female who has never used drugs. A little over a year ago I had unprotected sex with a male that I did not know well. I was extremely drunk, and this is not typical behavior for me. Needless to say I regret the situation. I have not had sex since with anyone. I was scared of hiv from the very moment after. I contacted this guy, who has since dropped off the face of the earth, and asked about his status. He said he was sure he was neg.
Avatar f tn I've been sick for over a year now and the doctors cannot figure out what is wrong. In August of 2007 I started to feel sick with abdominal pain and constant nausea but I just thought it was a virus. I started seeing doctors a little while after and received an upper endoscopy. They discovered candida (a yeast infection) in my esophagus. I received medicine and for about a week I felt as good as new.
