m wheezing like crazy, coughing up mucus constantly, getting a really tight chest, and it also feels like my ribs are bruised as soon as I start coughing. Where I have moved to is also right next to a very busy 3 lane road which is making me wonder.. Is it the kitten? or the busy road? or the smoking finally catching up with me? I've changed all my bedding to anti-allergy stuff, I change the bed sheets every few days, I don't have carpet. I regulary wipe down surfaces for dust.

I have been smoking (a pack a day) for 2 and half years. recently I started cold and coughing. not dry cough. there is a little bit of blood in the sputum , only in the morning after i wake up. i got 3 pneumonia when i was little. my lung is sensitive. now when i cough my back hurts(this symptom just occured yesterday).... but when i dont smoke it gets better. do i have possibility of getting lung cancer? Sounds like you might have a mild case of allergy related athsma. Try taking an allergy medicine for a week and see if that helps. It doesn't sound like you have any mucus, so the cold medicines wouldn't work. My children have allergy related athsma. They rattle when they sleep and mostly just when sleeping or exercising. They also have a cough. I even had one child who always sounded like her nose was stuffy and had bad breath, that went away with the allergy medicine.

Barbara533 Have you tried an antihistamine? rushtyyyyy green and yellow flem should not be coming up from allergy unless it is stomach acid. Usually allergy is clear mucus. I'm not a doctor but I wonder if it is a bacteria infection. Sorry I don't know the correct answer. Maybe the doctors are correct too. I just personally haven't heard of colored mucus from allergy. Allergy can cause mucus that can lead to bacteria infection too. See another doctor.

Hello, My question is the following. A couple of months ago my fiance and I got a cat, the first day I had an allergic reaction immediately, red eyes, sneezing and nasal congestion.

My daughter got allergy tested at 3 years old and founds that she was allergic to ALL animals. Even though she was on treatment it didnt work because we had a cat. We got rid of the cat, encased beds etc, and put her on a daily breathing treatment called pulmicort. Taking albuterol daily is not healthy. She is 5 today and my life has changed. I was sad knowing she has to take breathing treatments and that she cant spend the night with cats, but no more ER trips for us!

I am allergic to cat,dust,moulds.As a result,i got rid of cat and still ill.I take Advair,Nasonex,Cough suppressent,cough drops and for 1.5 months now i am losing my voice to varying degrees!!!Dr.says keep taking what i do and a virus going around(that is why voice is bad)He is WRONG!! I also get an itch lower side of throat that makes me cough a lot.Is there anything to help me out there especially since i am gradually getting worse over the years and now my voice is going.

I have had this for almost a year where I have been coughing almost spasm like and I feel my throat closing up, my lungs hurt, I wake up in a sweat at night. I have been to the doctor and have done various tests done but it all seems to come out clear. I am currently on steriods "predisolone". Even though I vacuum and dust continually!, cat hair gets up my nose, in my throat and "jumps" on my legs, makes me itch on my face and also seems to cause my itching uinder my breast area, around where my underwear where it is tight around the creases of my skin( inside thigh area for example). It also makes my mood suck! I have been on Singulair for one week. daily saline nose rinses, veramist nose spray. It seemed to help a little bit but now not much.

t have a runny nose or cough while awake. It could take some time for the drainage to pool and cause the coughing. Taking out the tonsils won't help with this either. t know that coughing is NOT NORMAL till i took him and found out he had pneumonia. What I was told is unless your cat is coughing up a hairball, coughing is not normal; and the impaired breathing definitely sounds like something is not right-please bring your cat to the vet right away.

For 4 months I have been constantly coughing, gagging, choking, spitting up mucus and throwing up. You said his parents took care of them so do you live with his parents? If not then have you talked about his parents maybe taking the cats? Pet's are not disposable so you need to either rehome (not rake them to a shelter) or find away to live with them. You could try brushing them daily and using a damp wash cloth on them to remove as much lose fur and dander as possible. Some cats will tolerate a bath but I wouldn't force it on a 12 yr old cat.

I think it would depend though on to what degree on is allergic to the cat dander. My allergy test indicated a very low degree of being allergic to cat dander. If 1 is the lowest and 4 is the highest degree of being allergic to a certain thing, I was 1 plus to cat dander and wait for it, 4 plus to June grass pollen. That's my worst one. If i scratch it, it breaks out into a lot of small bumps along with a red rash so ive learned just to rub the area and eventually it goes away (unless its on my back or somewhere i cant reach) Occasionally i will also have wheezing and coughing while trying to sleep. Ive learned a few things: 1) when i hold my cat, my arms break out but i was never allergic to her before 2) Keeping my window open keeps me from breaking out but its hard to do that in winter weather.

Just the past year it seems to have been getting worse. I have gone to an ENT and she wanted to get an allergy test. Well, it came back that I was allergic to dust mites and cat hair. So I made a huge change by getting rid of my cat, and getting anything hypoallergenic that I could get my hands on. I have not gotten any better. I do nasal spray daily and take Claritin or Tylenol Sinus on occasion, but I feel that nothing helps it.
