1283791 tn?1276818314 Hi - your very young - have you been coughing a long time Sometime you can iritate your throat so much that you cough up blood - by all means see your doctor for your peace of mind. God bless.
Avatar f tn Coughing up a touch of blood in your flehm is actually fairy common. Your throat can become slightly raw and spots can crack and bleed slightly. Most people when they have a bronchial / larynges infection will cough up yellowish flehm. coughing up large amounts of blood on the other hand is very bad. You will generally throw up blood though as it doesn't sit well in peoples stomach. medications that contain a cough suppressant may help over the short term to help reduce the irritation.
Avatar m tn I went to the hospital a month ago, done a chest x ray again, it came clear, done colonoscopy, gastroscopy, and upper endoscopy which said my membrane is vulnerable with spotty bleeding at touch, but it didnt explain blood in mucus. So after that i went to a Sinus and nasopharynx MSCT scan. it showed that my left maxillary sinus is complety full of tissue, which was spreading to the nasopharynx and theres a mass 3cm large and 2.5 wide...they said CT didnt show a tumor or metastases.
Avatar m tn Got told I have Tonsilitis by my doctor 2 days ago, I've got white spots on the back of my throat, Fever, Sweating, sore throat/ears. She prescribed me some antibiotics, which seem to have worked maybe a little since then, not too much improvement though. I wouldn't be too worried about this, although i feel mucus in the back of my throat a lot, I spit it out every now and then and 90% of the time it will have blood in it.
Avatar m tn recently i had fever(3days ago),i had headaches, loss of appetite, tonsillitis and mucus formation.i am healthy now but now my mucus is not yellow it is somewhat red in color.a blackish red blood is to be seen. Also i am having problem when i take deep breath i get a momentary pain in my lungs.Am i dying?
Avatar n tn for about 2months now I have had a cough, lots of mucus, wheezing, when I cough now i pee on myself which is embarrasing.
Avatar n tn And the next day, I started coughing up small amounts of blood, sometimes combined with mucus, sometimes just blood clots, the blood seemed dark, not pink, and I didn't cough blood all the time, I would cough some blood, then it stopped, and maybe much later that day, or the next day, some more blood..
Avatar n tn How long this has been going on for? Also do you smoke? Is the blood present as a pink mucus or as diluted blood (ie with saliva)? Do you have trouble swallowing large amounts of food? Regardless of the answers to the above questions, if you are coughing up blood for more than a week, it must be examined, a simple chest X-Ray and bloodwork would rule out anything serious.
Avatar n tn I recently had sex unprotected with a girl I met at a bar. Exactly the next day I had muscle pains and started to get really congested. Second day I started to get a sore throat and started coughing really hard with a lot of dark green mucus coming out of my coughs. My nose usually stayed runny all day but usually at night when I'd go to sleep it wouldn't run. But I started coughing and sometimes there's blood in the mucus when I cough up, little amounts in the mucus.
Avatar n tn Barbara533 Have you tried an antihistamine? rushtyyyyy green and yellow flem should not be coming up from allergy unless it is stomach acid. Usually allergy is clear mucus. I'm not a doctor but I wonder if it is a bacteria infection. Sorry I don't know the correct answer. Maybe the doctors are correct too. I just personally haven't heard of colored mucus from allergy. Allergy can cause mucus that can lead to bacteria infection too. See another doctor.
Avatar n tn Well, you definitely need a work-up by a pulmonary specialist. That being said, coughing up blood maybe very serious, and then again may not be very serious, so don't think you necessarily have a fatal illness. There are many possibilities.
Avatar f tn after a bout of glandular fever followed by the ME I became allergic to alot of foods and now I only eat according to my blood group. get a book about it, it can recommend what vitamins are suitable for your blood type as well as foods. I haven't looked back since I started this diet.
Avatar m tn Hello yes you need to be checked it is possible to break your ribs if coughing is forceful enough. When coughing you can place a pillow up against the abdomen and chest area to help lessen the force the cough places on those areas. You most likely need some antibiotics and possibly a chest x-ray, and breathing treatments to help break the phlegm up so you can get all the infection and mucus out of you body once and for all.
Avatar m tn Please discuss your symptoms, including your memory loss, stomach cramps, headaches and coughing up of blood and mucous with your physician. These symptoms are less likely to be related to a problem with your heart.
Avatar n tn Hi, blood in saliva or sputum is called hemoptysis. These symptoms strongly suggest that you may be having acute sore throat infection (most common cause). In such cases tiny tinge of blood in sputum is common. Some other possibilities are polyps, broncheictesis, lung cancer, gastrointestinal bleeding etc. Firstly you need to start a course of broad spectrum antibiotic as an empirical therapy if infection is suspected.
Avatar m tn t worry about anything strange going on down there. And if you were to be coughing blood from your lungs it would have to be from very bad and hard coughing all day long, due infections like tuberculosis or having really bad bronchiectasis (a condition where your airways are damaged, which can be picked up by CT scan). Just relax and be glad your lungs work well.
Avatar m tn Hemoptysis or coughing up blood could occur with tuberculosis. The other causes could be due to lung tumors, bleeding disorders or due to side effects of medications. The other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the wind pipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids.
Avatar f tn Exposure to air while driving causes a continuous clearing of throat and mucus. Last week it seems to be getting worst as i find myself coughing for no reason, pain in my throat, vomiting and shortness of breath some times with a bout of hot flash.. I now have to travel with a bottle of water. Everything does not subside until i clear my throat fully of mucus. During this time, i cannot speak until i clear my throat.
Avatar n tn Even with a severe cough, it would be very rare to see any blood. You should let your parents know about this if you haven't already. I'm not sure where you live, but tuberculosis is still possible to catch in school in some parts of the country, and is likely if you have also had a fever. Best to get checked out as soon as possible.
Avatar m tn While it seemed to improve his blood sugar(I tested his blood), he had periods of excitement and heavy panting for hours. I was concerned about heart attack and I cut his dosage to 5mg three times a day, then 2. After a month of so, he started to develop a severe cough. Dry, but with almost every breath. This continues today, after 4 months. Out of desperation, I cut medicines out completely after dropping the dosage slowly for a week.
Avatar m tn My symptoms started a month ago when i had a fever, throat pain, coughing up yellow mucus and a runny nose, so i decided to visit my doctor which prescribed Klacid 500 mg (Clarithromycin), which i took and after a few days the runny nose stopped and my throat no longer hurt, however, i was still caughing, which a follow-up to my doctor gave me Valdocef (Cefadroxil) which i also took but the cough remained.
Avatar f tn My 11 year old spit up about two table spoons of blood two to three time a day for the pass three days. She is not coughing, and there is no mucus mixed with the blood. I took her to her pediatrician he referred me to an ENT, the ENT referred me to gastro. specialist. her lungs and sinuses are clear. today they will do a CAT scan. if they can not find a source for the blood that will put her to sleep and each specialist will take a deeper look.
