Avatar f tn Coughing up a touch of blood in your flehm is actually fairy common. Your throat can become slightly raw and spots can crack and bleed slightly. Most people when they have a bronchial / larynges infection will cough up yellowish flehm. coughing up large amounts of blood on the other hand is very bad. You will generally throw up blood though as it doesn't sit well in peoples stomach. medications that contain a cough suppressant may help over the short term to help reduce the irritation.
Avatar f tn I have whooping cough and just finished my medicine but I'm still coughing so bad. Can my unborn baby catch it through me? I tried Googling it but couldn't find much and my Dr didn't tell me anything. I'm 38+2. Could my baby have it when she comes out?
Avatar m tn My son who is 12 is having episodes of coughing up blood every 60 days --it started in March of 2012 -- it sometimes starts with sharp pains in his right side (front) -- or sometimes he just coughs up blood -- the coughing up of blood lasts for about 20 mins -- he coughs up about 1/2 of a specimen container of blood -- he says it feels like there is something he needs to cough up -- he coughs -- not too hard - and then spits into a cup and it is blood.
Avatar n tn Hi I am from the UK but currently live in the US so know how both systems work. I would recommend seeing the specialist privately in the UK. It's usually not too expensive and you can be seen within days. For something like your eyes, this is a good investment believe me. In the US, you can see whoever you want......but believe me also when I tell you the bills are scary. Even with insurance! Don't hate on the NHS just yet.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I just wondered if anyone can tell me if it is standard to have blood test when diagnosings neurological problems. I have been examined by a Neurologist, I have had MRI scans, brain stem potentails (auditory only) and a Lumbar puncture. The only blood I have had taken is a small amount when the LP was done. Should I have had more detailed blood tests? also should I have had other evoked potentails done?
Avatar f tn ve heard of girls having this happen and being fine, but it is always better to make sure with this. Coughing up blood can be a sign of a blood clot in the lung or something serious like that. Tell them everything. Stay calm and good luck!
Avatar m tn People, Has anyone used the GUM clinic? I was up last Wednesday, and I am anxiously waiting results and was curious to know how long I would expect to wait if HIV or something that serious was found in my blood. It's all I can think about, ive already had to take time off work etc. I have heard two weeks quoted, and even 3 weeks. I am now past the 5th day and was thinking could I consider getting till the end of this week with no news as me being in the all clear?

Avatar n tn Probably best to just see a doctor before purchasing a body scan. coughing up blood is not normal and requires evaluation. You will have to use your own judgement on how bad the situation is and as to whether she needs to be seen in an ER this weekend.
Avatar f tn i have put it with it for that long that i am immune to earache and its was a everyday thing for me but just lately i have been waking in the night from excrutiating shooting pains and my hearing is realy poor, i am now 20 and the NHS keep sending me home with ear drops and appointments in 4 weeks from that one but when my letter came through its not till 6 months and i cant cope with it any more!
Avatar m tn Hi there I would go to gp blood in saliva could be due to chest infection, coughing too much thus bursting tiny vessels in throat(not serious) if you have severe gastric disorder it could be coming from gastric is the blood bright red? If so this is prob due to strain from coughing,is the blood brown in colour if so this is old blood and should be checked out ASAP are you on medications that could be making gums bleed thus leaving slight blood in your salvia.
Avatar f tn Hi Doctor, I've read a couple of posts on your site recently which deal with Hep B concerns. I've found a couple which are the same as my concerns and thus I my mind was put at ease. I am a married, heterosexual male, living in London, UK and stupidly fingered a stripper with a small but fresh and open cut on my finger which I was concerned may have bled when I fingered this girl. My concerns were of HIV and Hep B and any risk I may have put my wife at.

They took X-rays and blood after about six hours later I was told that their was nothing wrong with me and the cause of my bleeding was due to to much coughing when I had not cough prior to this time . Right now I have not being able to go outside because its a little bit cold .

Avatar m tn Well, if you are coughing up blood, a responsible adult in your life should be told so you can be seen by a doctor. I doubt I have to state the obvious that inhalation of smoke from weed isn't good for you. but coughing up blood is something that requires medical care so you need to talk to your parents about seeing a doctor.

Avatar n tn irritation of the throat from violent coughing, blood clot in the lung, bronchiectasis, bronchitis, cancer, cystic fibrosis, inflammation of the blood vessels in the lung, nosebleeds, pneumonia, tuberculosis or inhaling blood into the lungs. Are there any other signs or symptoms present? Chest x-ray, complete blood count and complete medical and physical examination is needed to help with the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn Well, you definitely need a work-up by a pulmonary specialist. That being said, coughing up blood maybe very serious, and then again may not be very serious, so don't think you necessarily have a fatal illness. There are many possibilities.
