Coughing blood leukemia

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing blood leukemia

coughing

Avatar n tn Is leukemia a possibility if I've been having chronic wrist pain since mid-January 2008. I went to the dr., he did an xray and said nothing appeared. I had a CBC w/differential done Dec 31 2007 and everything turned up normal. I know bone/joint pain is a symptom of leukemia, would this be more systematic or could it be a localized area? I also came down with a cold a few days ago, constant coughing, mucous but no fever, please any insights?
Avatar f tn I got my complete blood pic and everything was fine expect for lymphocytes and monocytes and here are the counts Hemoglobin 13.2 range 14-18 Red blood cells 4.7 range 4.5-5.5 Haemtocrite 30.8 range 40-52 why its low ? Platelets count 162000 range 150-400-000 White blood cells 5100 range 4000-11000 Total polymorphs 45 range 40-70% staff 3% segmented 42 Lymphocytes 45 range 20-40% monocytes 8 range 3-5% basophils 0 range <1-2% eosinophils 2 range 2-3% What do u think ?
Avatar m tn Of course, it could also be linked to leukemia, but that would be the case if only a very specific white blood cell type was increased. If they found a mix of white blood cell types, not just one specific cell type, in a blood smear, then they would not suspect leukemia.
Avatar n tn They can also result from autoimmune disorders, such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, bone marrow disorders such as leukemia, inflammation of the veins, as a side effect of certain medications, viral infections, such as EBV or Dengue and septicemia or infection in blood. A complete blood count, urine examination and a blood culture may be required to reach a diagnosis. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Do you know if that could be leukemia or does leukemia always present with high WBC count in conjunction with differential abnormalities like mine? I have most of the symptoms of leukemia with the exception of fever. I know there are many other tests needed to get a diagnosis and I am of course hoping it isn't cancer, but I haven't been able to find any info on what could cause high lymphocyte percentages in normal or low-normal wbc counts.
Avatar f tn the very large number of blood cells from the leukemia make the blood very prone to coagulate. I.e., the blood is "hypercoagulable". When your CBC test shows normal blood cell levels, you can discard thoughts of leukemia. Covid can cause inflammation which causes blood coagulation in some patients. So your doc might have ordered ESR and CRP and other related tests. What to be wary of? If the clotting gets worse and gets widespread, which it probably won't.
695601 tn?1310909219 I do know that if she did have Leukemia, it would of probably shown up in her blood test, and them conformed in her bone marrow test. But do think it could be possible, that the Leukemia could be there mentally, but not phyically? In other words, invisible, so it wouldnt show up in the blood and bone marrow test? But it is there mentally, which is causing her to have the physical symptom? It would be really great if someone could answer this, she is too young, and a great person.
Avatar f tn Can you tell me if my labs came back with a wbc count of 3.0 mean that I may most likely have Leukemia? Most of my lab's were all normal just the wbc, red cell count barely low, and alot more I could type in specific results if I know what you would like to see in order to take a look and see if I have a chance of it not being Leukemia. I have had a lupus panel, neg. I had rhumatoid Arthritis panel neg. Please let me know if anyone has any way of helping me figure it out.
Avatar m tn You can ask your doctor to give you a copy of your blood test and explain it to you in detail. If the blood test points to leukemia, he may want to proceed with a biopsy. I wish you luck and yes, please keep us posted.
Avatar n tn t CAUSE leukemia, but I know that acute leukemia causes low white blood count, but the worst is the ANC, Absolute Neutrophil Count, which is the part of the white blood cell that fights infection. A really low ANC means no immune system to speak of, which results in the complications associated with leukemia. My son (5years) had an Absolute Neutrophil Count of 0 when he was diagnosed, with 99.9% blasts (immature white blood cells).
Avatar m tn Is there ever a case the leukemia is not evident in blood work and just comes back? I have enlarged lymp node near heart and some additional tissue on spleen. She indicated this normal. I trust her. Of course .
Avatar f tn I hope your blood test and peripheral smear goes well. Most people with a blood cancer usually first develope one or more enlarged, painless lymph nodes and this is what promps them to go see a doctor. Some people develop other symptoms (called B symptoms) which often indicates a more progressed disease. These symptoms range from low grade fevers, drenching night sweats, extreme weight loss and sometimes an all over itchiness.
Avatar m tn The small bit of information I found regarding elevated B12 stated that it could be associated with some forms of leukemia. My doctor did send me a letter interpreting the blood results, and he stated that I do not need any further testing. I do have an appointment to see him next week to discuss things, but I don't know whether or not to push for more testing since he doesn't seem too concerned. Does anyone have experience with elevated B12 levels?
Avatar n tn I could tell she was concerned and she ordered bloodwork to find out if we should be worried about leukemia. She does not have any other symptoms. The Dr. called and said everything looked normal and that her platelet count was at 215k. I looked it up on the web and see that the normal range is 150 to 400. I know if the Dr. says it's normal I probably shouldn't worry but I can't help it.
Avatar f tn I believe it is where you save the blood from the ambilical cord for the future if your child needs blood for any reason they have it... but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Avatar f tn In most cases people do not even have symptoms of Leukemia, it is usually found with just routine blood work and it shows in the blood counts. That is how they found mine. I have had Leukemia now for 16 years this Christmas, and they found it very early. I got onto the right treatment, and I am doing very well.
Avatar n tn When we found out my son had leukemia, thay first sespected by his blood test..but the onley way you can be sure is by haveing a bone morrow test..

Avatar n tn The analysis found an increased risk of death due to leukemia, particularly myeloid leukemia, among the workers exposed to formaldehyde. This risk was associated with increasing peak and average levels of exposure and the duration of exposure, but not cumulative exposure. Another study of 14,014 textile workers performed by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) also found an association between the duration of exposure to formaldehyde and leukemia deaths.
Avatar m tn My son who is 12 is having episodes of coughing up blood every 60 days --it started in March of 2012 -- it sometimes starts with sharp pains in his right side (front) -- or sometimes he just coughs up blood -- the coughing up of blood lasts for about 20 mins -- he coughs up about 1/2 of a specimen container of blood -- he says it feels like there is something he needs to cough up -- he coughs -- not too hard - and then spits into a cup and it is blood.
