Today I got my boyfriend to pick up a new batch of pills as I was sick and he came home with a new generic brand of valtrex. This kind of mad me mad as I have no idea if they are the same or not and I thought i should have a choice to switch not just be switched over. My new bottle says CPL Pms-Valacyclovir 500mg instead of CPL valtrex valacyclovir HCI 500mg. The guy at the drug place told my boyfriend that it was suppose to be the same and that it was only $14.

the technicality to the answer to your question is this - only valtrex has been studied for reduction in transmission to a partner. We'll never see studies with famvir or acyclovir either since both are generics and no money is to be made from doing the studies at this point.

I have been purchasing his medications for him on line though a pharmacy in Canada costing an extreme amount of money for his Synthroid. I am on a limited income and I cannot afford it anymore.
