Common Questions and Answers about Coreg and side effects

coreg

Avatar n tn It happens to me once, but in the opposite side, the batch of Coreg that I started was wrong and has a lower doses that it specifies. Why not to forget the pills that you are using just now and order a different ones from a different lab batch?
Avatar m tn Is this type of recovery problem to be expected as a side effect of coreg, and can I expect this side effect to decrease over time or not? A few days ago my cardiologist said test showed I incurred no damage during the recent attack. In view of this, my SECOND QUESTION is: If I am in no worse shape than before the latest "attack", why do I need a beta blocker?
Avatar n tn I was just put on coreg since june6th and have been having severe headaches from it and tiredness. Is there any side effects between these three that can give me these headaches? I was fine until I was out on coreg.
Avatar m tn Initially it has slightly reduced my heart palpitations which are less forceful, stopped some irregular or PACs and cut out the dreaming side effect of Coreg. However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks. I have also been affected by regular bouts of diarrhea.
Avatar f tn My cariologist wants my blood pressure less than 120/80, and as low as possible without side effects. The coreg with lisinopril does dilate the vessels and maintains heart rate stability, and if there is a side effect of lightheadedness, etc. the doctor would adjust or find the medication that is right for you. Your weak heart as indicated by lower than normal EF (amount of blood pumped with each heartbeat).
Avatar n tn I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable. My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
Avatar n tn ) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor . Is his heart really cured or are the meds keeping him healthy? and what will happen if he stops them altogether?
Avatar m tn Soon after that I stopped the lisinopril on my own. I had tons of side effects from it. It was also lowering my heart rate into the 30s and 40s and dropping my BP to nearly nothing. My cardio told me that was ok but stay on the Coreg because it actually rebuilds the heart. I was also very active and they told me that doing arobic exercise was the cause of many young seemingly healthy adults cardiomyopathy because the wall thicken due to something called LVH in short hypertrophy.
Avatar m tn If you do not want to suffer a heart attack or stroke, you need to take the Plavix and aspirin. Lipitor is a cholesterol medication that have proven studies showing reducing cholesterol and reducing some cholesterol buildup already there. The medications are your life line and you need to take them as prescribed by your doctor. Are you having current side effects from the medications?
Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .
907968 tn?1292622204 I just got a refill of my Carvedilol (3.125mg) I take two pills in the morning and two in the evening and it has been this way since August '09. I read the side effects just out of curiosity and I had nothing better to do and what I found was, "Check with your Dr. as soon as possible If you experience cold or numb legs or feet or unusual leg pain". And it goes on to say "Contact your Dr. immediately if you experience....(lists what seems like 10,000 things)...
21064 tn?1309308733 s these medications she takes for dilated cardiomyopathy she has recently begun digoxin, and this has improved her ef, and has improved overall heart function working in conjunction with the other meds she is currently at the max dosage of coreg, and with the exception of occasional low bp she has tolerated it very well (though i will caution everyone that at the start of taking coreg the side effects can be troublesome, she had two issues of very low bp that actually made her "dro
Avatar m tn My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better. The side effects from the metoprolol have gotten a little better - I don't feel as exhausted, though as I type this my heart rate is 52 bpm. Plus when I go walking I can't get my heart rate above 95 bpm. Does any one have any comments on the pros and cons of carvedilol versus metoprolol?
343006 tn?1314446471 also doctor said very few people have problems on this med Coreg ? Avatar n tn I have now been off this terrible drug for 13 days and still have terrible side effects. To give you some history, Sept. 2008, I went into the hospital with chest pains, spent the night with all the tests and ruled out a heart attack. Since childhood, I have always had moderate blood pressure but have been on meds for the past 7 years. Since my hospital stay in Sept., my blood pressure has been difficult to control.
Avatar n tn I have extremely dry skin and am on a couple of blood pressure lowering drugs. I think this is perhaps more part of the aging process. I could be wrong though. As I have aged I have noticed my skin seems to be thinner as I cut so easily. And let's not start me up on the bruising.
Avatar n tn s in Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN, but nothing is working. They have her on Coreg (heart medicine and Minitodil for blood pressure). Please help me if you can, we need to find someone who specializes in Syncope and in very low blood pressure. Sometimes upon standing the nurses can't even get a reading on her blood pressure because it drops so low.
Avatar n tn I had the problem with coreg (beta blocker and ace inhibitor). Coreg Cr is a single slow acting dose, and the same coreg dosage split to twice a day (morning and night) was more effective. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn Did you try to google the med and look under side effects? Besides, in your message you said the doctor wanted you to stop Tiazac and start the Coreg. Have you tried that yet? One thing with heart meds, it's not a good idea to start and stop them. Plus it may take a month or two for the initial side effects to settle down. Try not to be discouraged. When I first started Diltiazem I had monster headaches for the first 2 weeks and felt like my brain was full of fuzz.
Avatar m tn About a month ago my cardio had switched me to a new BB called Bystolic which did a better job in lowering my BP but had to go off it because of side effects. When I went back to Coreg at 6.125 my HR keeps at 70-80 and I also experience tiredness and can only attain a HR of 100 with execise. About 2 weeks ago I had to have my HR chemically speeded up because I could not walk on the threadmill long enough to complete a stress Echo.

Avatar n tn I am only 6 ft and 170 lbs. and the dosage you take for coreg would probably cause side effects for me, but fortunately my present regimen of medication serves me well.
Avatar f tn After several days with shortness of breath cardiologist took me off Coreg. I have now been off for 6 days and I still have SOB except when sleeping. What else could be going on?? The office visit when he took me off Coreg also had a clean EKG, good BP all arteries pumping properly, good blood oxygen level. The SOB doesn't increase remarkably during low level exercise. That is all I have done so far. Think I am a little affraid.
4740939 tn?1358611556 Do you suffer from anxiety or depression? If not, there's no reason to take those drugs -- lifestyle changes and therapy will make just as much difference in your life and won't harm you. Taking aspirin and Lexapro might make you more prone to bleeding and bruising -- that's a side effect of ssris. Klonopin is addictive. Both Lexapro and klonopin are very hard to stop taking.
