copaxone weight gain

t concerned about weight gain and copaxone use, I have been on it for three months and lost 20 pounds easily with some small dietary changes.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced weight gain while on Copaxone. I have been putting on weight al while I have been carefully watching my calories. I have been on Copaxone for 4 months and previously had been on Avonex for 15 years. Any input would be appreciated.

I would LOVE to blame weight gain on Copaxone but I know my fluctuation comes from bad eating habits and lack of exercise. It appears that about 3% of people using it did have that possible side effect. This disease works on us in so many ways, it is possible you are one of those 3%. But also take a look at your lifestyle habits and see if perhaps something there might contribute to the problem. I've been on copaxone since Oct. 2008.

t know about the weight gain either as my understanding is that copaxone would be more likely to cause weight loss rather than gain but I'm not an expert! Just wanted to share my own experience of copaxone.

This old lady can not tolerate any weight gain, so of course, I am taking in less food to combat the weight gain. With being a diabetic, curently controlled with diet; I can't afford to gain weight and be back on insulin. I worked too hard to keep off that weight.

I really don't like what Copaxone has done to my skin. I've been injecting it into the fat areas, like my stomach, hips, upper thighs. My upper thighs were a little lumpy - now they're REALLY lumpy. There's a huge lumpy dent right in the middle of each thigh. My stomach used to be smooth - now it's lumpy too. I have two huge dents, one on either side of my belly button. And my hips are dented in too! Everything looks terrible.

Please help! I started copaxone in February 2018. It makes me feel bloated and I am gaining weight. I've always been the same size, about 133 lbs. in two months I'm up 5 lbs even though I go to the gym more and have reduced my food intake and eat extremely healthy, lots of veggies, lots of lean protein like tuna chicken salmon. Yogurt, nuts, power bars. No red meat and some fruit. If I gain 5 lbs every two months I'll be up 30 lbs by the end of my first year on copaxone.

m on Copaxone, Celexa, Nuvigil, and just finished up a round on 1000mg of Medrol for an exacerbation. I started both the Copaxone and Nuvigil three weeks ago. Could these be causing the weight loss? Could it simply be because, now that I'm on Nuvigil, I'm awake again? lol...now i'm not complaining...I love that I'm 130 now and, heck, I wouldn't mind dropping another 5, but it just happened so quickly that it just seems like something isn't right.

Anyone on copaxone, anyone have their tastes changing? Putting on weight? Just wondering, things taste a bit strange since copaxone.

Hey there. I started Copaxone about 3 months ago. I think it is going ok other then a weight gain of 5 lbs in the 3 months I have been on it. I guess that is common in about 7% of the folks on it. The Copaxone people are real nice and available with any problems and questions. I was just diagnosed in December and am battling fatigue. No big flare ups so far. Hang in there.

ve heard over and over how bad they are to take. I dreaded the bad taste and weight gain but never experienced either. In fact, I lost weight when I was on a long term tapering dose of prednisone. Although injection site reactions are pretty common there is no guarantee you will have the hard time described by some on this forum. We tend to hear about problems more than successes here and can forget that many PwMS are feeling well or taking medications with few problems.

I dont want to start on regular infusions because the massive headaches, and time off work to get it done... not to mention the freakin weight gain! Up 2 sizes since dec because of steroid infusions. Switching Doctors is probably a good idea. And I'll do it. Lulu :) - thanks for replying, and thanks for your input.

I'm 45 yrs and I feel like I have achieved absautely nothing. To get to the point////// the best years of my body looking good is over!!!! Since I been injecting copaxone in my thighs the have truly taken on a whole new shape...not the most flattering....my neuro said I don't have that deformity that is associated with copaxone, I gueas with my weight gain, from the differnt x's of using prenisone, zoloft, and I'm not sure but copaxone has steroids in it as well ???

Hi, Shell! It's so nice to see you, too! Yes, had to ditch the Copaxone. I've been on the Rebif since February 20th. I'm glad to know that Rebif is serving you well. I have a lot of permanent damage, that may have been prevented, if my former Neuro had not retracted his diagnosis. I don't mind the Rebif injections, at all. No site reactions. (Although, I am hoping to gain some weight, because I don't have enough fat.

Hi Ali. I can tell you my experience with Copaxone. I was just diagnosed in Dec of 07. I haven't been on any other MS med. I was put on Copaxone. In those 3 months I struggled with depression, sleeplessness, gained 10 lbs and had terrible dark circles under my eyes. It completely changed my personality. I took myself off it and finally after 2 weeks am starting to feel like myself again and have dropped the weight and the circles under my eyes are gone.

Look up weight gain according to BMI and it will give you a good idea on the amount of weight you should gain according to your body type.

Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

Aww don't worry. In my experience, weight gain tends to stall at the end.

You gain the most weight in the last 8 weeks. So you might barely gain now, and then pack it on fast toward the end which is normal.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm 36weeks pregnant and since my last doctors appointment I haven't gained any weight. I didn't gain weight in the 1st trimester due 2 sickness, but in the 3rd I've been pretty steady with my weight gain...at the very least a poun a week. And now it's been almost 2 weeks and still no weight gain. Could that mean anything? Or is it just normal? Thanks in advance!

So my dr says my weight gain is fine. He said 1 pound per week along I am.. So I am 32 weeks and I have gained 31 lbs... Does that sound like a lot?!? What has everyone else gained? Or is that a horrible question to ask everyone?

I haven't gain that much weight but I'm pretty sure I was at least 7 to 10 pounds over weight before I got pregnant.... I'm 5'3 so i think i should weight a little less..... maybe 125lb Before I had my beautiful baby girl (now 25 months) I was working out a lot and I was feeling good ...lol I went down to 128lbs and that when my hubby decided that it was time for another baby ..... I don't even know how or when did It happen.... :(.
