Copaxone needle gauge

Common Questions and Answers about Copaxone needle gauge

copaxone

Avatar f tn ve noticed over the last week or so that the needle is harder to push through my skin. Could there have been a change in needle thickness? Or my skin getting tougher? has anyone ever heard of this or had this happen?
Avatar n tn The larger the Number, ie 25 gauge vs. 21 gauge the SMALLER the lumen or "barrel width" of the needle tube. Think of it as a pipe and the distance that measures across the diameter of the opening,,,the larger that width, the greater amount of a substance can pass through. In needle gauges #'s, however....think of opposites: # 19 gauge is "wider" than a # 25 gauge, which is much smaller, used for subcutaneous injections such as insulin.
195469 tn?1388322888 How many of you that are diagnosed and using one of the disease modifying drugs, are having follow up MRI's every twelve months? I have a Neurologist that thinks it's vital to have a follow-up MRI every year. She checks to see if I have any new lesions and if any of my past lesions have reduced in size and most importantly she says, to check for brain volume loss.
Avatar m tn Hey guys how's everything going...I've been doing a little better dealing with this whole ms situation. I ended up going to a 2nd Nuro that specialize in Ms and she said I had CIS clinically isolated syndrome which is a step lower than ms. I start on copaxone this week and I'm kinda worried about the shot. Any advice guys? My left hand is starting to come back with my cordnation and the numbness is starting to fade away little by little..
Avatar f tn Pegasys prefilled syringes are 27-gauge 1/2 inch needles. Neupogen prefilled syringes are also 27-gauge 1/2 needles.
956292 tn?1334054869 The larger the gauge the smaller the diameter. So, an 18 gauge needle would be considerably larger than a 20 gauge. (more info than anyone needed or wanted to know I'm sure, but there it is, lol) I think in terms of Avonex, because it is an IM injection, you will need a little bit longer of a needle because the needle needs to go into the muscle, so you probably don't have much of a choice in length.
Avatar m tn I have been reading that if you use the same needle that you draw meds with (18 gauge), some rubber from the bail might get injected to your muscle, and that scared me. I am still in a lot of pain 16 hours later....
4726816 tn?1363910897 I always have indents on my finger and thumb from pushing them, I use a 23 gauge needle for them so it makes it hard to push. They're just already so irritating that I feel bad going at someone with a thicker needle lol.
Avatar n tn How important is it to keep the copaxone cool for travelling purposes? We are travelling overseas and need to take around 50 injections with us on two different airlines.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi guys, this is a question for us users of Copaxone. I am wondering if anyone knows the reason we have to pinch up our skin before doing a manual injection? I am asking because some of my sites are easy to do that, but some are not. I have just been injecting , like anyother needle, and my reactions are minimal. Am I doing something wrong? With the Autoject, the reaction sites were just to sore, and lumpy, and I'm trying it this way..... \\\\\\\\So, what do ya think??? Thxs...
Avatar m tn Can someone tell me the gauge and length of the needle used with the auto ejector used with the trimix injections?
Avatar m tn This morning when I took my IM POI injection, I forgot to change the needle to the 22 gauge and used the 18 gauge to draw up the medicine and also inject. I am in a lot of pain. I am worried about infection, and nerve damage as this needle is so big. Anybody else ever done this or know someone who has? I am so stressed over this. Currently, I am 5 weeks pregnant after embryo transfer and want to make sure nothing bad happens.
1181494 tn?1264381915 t know if needle depth makes too much of a difference. I have been on copaxone for about 3 months and use a shallow needle depth of 4 mm. I exerienced the ichy huge red knots under the skin for 2 months and has recently subsided. No ichiness now, thank God! Hopefully yours goes away soon.
Avatar n tn sometimes is used as fine needle aspiration [with word biopsy is omitted], or fine needle biopsy.
Avatar m tn The reason while a larger gauge needle is used is the fact that the use Sesamy seed oil as a base for the testosterone. The oil is thick and if a small gauge needle is used it becomes to difficult to inject. I use a 22 G needle and inject it into my hip. I have tried my thigh, but that was little bit uncomfortable, nothing painfull however. Placing the inejction in the hip myself has not caused me pain.
Avatar m tn There would have to be a deep, significant injury with a large gauge needle (ie, an IM or IV type needle) to cause a risk in a needle stick scenario. There would also have to be a copious amount of fresh blood on the needle to cause a risk. A superficial needle stick with a small gauge needle (like an insulin needle) would not be a risk. MOST needle stick injuries never lead to infection, and the rare ones that do were significant injuries with a grossly bloody large bore needle.
Avatar m tn I am worried about the incident happed while the nurse took my blood sample Nurse applied the Alcohol wipe and did he needle prick to collect the blood. Removed the needle and asked me to press the prick with cotton like thing I think they call it cotton gauge. She then checked if blood was stopped hence applied the sticking band aid and asked me to lower my sleeve.
Avatar n tn FNAB is aspiration of the material of the glands which is done by a fine gauge needle (22 or 25 gauge) and a syringe. Then the material is looked under the microscope to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I just got the approval from insurance for Copaxone. They are shipping it Friday. I need to make an appointment for my Shared Solutions nurse to come help get me started. I have received a lot of information from the Copaxone people. It is starting to get overwhelming. I finally just put it away and decided to wait for the nurse to come out. I am really scared about giving myself a shot. Anyone have any tips on this?? Is this overwhelmed feeling I am now getting a normal feeling?
Avatar m tn Hi, I picked up a needle on its side by accident that I have no idea what it was used for. This needle was unuasually long and had a gauge on the end of it. I also have a burn on my finger that is not bleeding but is gushing. Could I catch any blood related diseases from such contact?
1936411 tn?1333831849 My injection training nurse comes tonight, so I'm officially going to start Copaxone. Woot! I woke up this morning with a nasty sore throat, which tells me I probably also have a nasty cold to look forward to this weekend. Blech... Starting Copaxone with a cold won't be a big deal, right? My understanding is that Copaxone does not work by lowering the immune system the way that some of the other DMD's do... But just wanted to toss the question out to you guys for an expert opinion.
1063384 tn?1258040119 The autoinject pen that comes with the started kit makes it so you never have to see the needle, if that is your problem. The copax needle is a 29 gauge - very thin - and most everyone will tell you that you barely feel the needle. Q is right - all the dmd's are about the same in effectiveness. I like the tool at http://www.msdecisions.org.uk to help you step through the differences in all the DMD's and help you to make a choice. stay in touch, ok?
5013474 tn?1362339295 You need to get this lump examined from a surgeon and get a FNAB (fine needle aspiration biopsy) of the lump. FNAB is aspiration of the material of the glands which is done by a fine gauge needle (22 or 25 gauge) and a syringe. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

Avatar f tn 1Moore, I have flown several times with my copaxone. First, call SS and tell them you want one of their travel wallets for the syringes if you don't already have one. It is a hard shelled case that will hold all your things - they even sent me a second autoinjector to keep in the travel case. The letter from the doctor isn't necessary - just take one of the prescription labels off the box and put it in your travel case.
