Avatar n tn She was doing every other day shots of 20 mg instead of daily doses; but she has gone back to her regular 20 mg a day since I have been so worried about her cutting back. I am so grateful to all who responded about assistance and I will be helping her to contact Shared Solutions for help. Thanks to all of you!

5987839 tn?1381922502 Curious if anyone else has had a post-injection reaction to Copaxone 40 (3x a day injection) .. it was only released by the FDA this year - as opposed to Copaxone 20 (daily) which has been out for 15-20 years. When I switched to 40, I asked about side effects and was told there are no new issues over the 20. It was a no brainer to switch to the 40. I started taking it at the beginning of June.
Avatar f tn We were traveling this weekend and before we got to our final destination, we stopped at my cousin's house for a pool party. I left everything in the car except for our swimming stuff. Unfortunately, I didn't even think that my Copaxone kit was in my suitcase. I had five syringes in there, and it was hot, hot, hot this weekend. Do you think that I should just throw these syringes away? I can't believe I could be so stupid! Thanks!
1983221 tn?1333506185 Good advice to delay withdraw of the needle. You might also try to inject a little deeper - 1ml is actually a good amount to inject into subcutaneous tissue. The resulting pressure can cause some to track back out the injection site. Another thing that might help is to try and make sure the air bubble in the syringe follows the liquid after it is expelled. This means you need to try to maintain the plunger UP position as much as possible. The air helps 'plug' the hole a little.
Avatar n tn The range was originally listed as 1-4 mcg/mL then changed to 2-20 mcg/mL then switched back to 1-4 mcg/mL and is now back at 2-20 mcg/mL. As with all medications this range exists because everyone is different. A level of 5.2 mcg/mL may be perfect for one person, too low for another and too high for someone else. If the seizures are controlled, the side effects are minimal/tolerable and there is no sign of toxicity, it is fine no matter where it falls.
Avatar f tn As for the 20 vs 40 copaxone dosage - what she is experiencing is the attempt by the insurance company to control costs. The 20 and 40 costs the same right now, but Copaxone in the 20 mg dose is coming off patent protection in a short time and will be available as a generic drug for much less than the $50-60,000 a year they are charging right now. The 40mg dosage is a new drug patent and has protection until 2030.
Avatar n tn I was on Copaxone 20 mg daily for about 4-5 years. I didn't really improve, but didn't seem to get worse either. Then I went to 40 mg 3x weekly. I had worse injection site reactions, which I didn't like, and was frustrated that I wasn't getting better, so I stopped altogether. I'm thinking of going back to taking Copaxone, but I have moved to a state with poor access to appropriate medical care.
Avatar m tn Then, the RNA was extracted by the QIAamp viral RNA kit. The first-strand cDNA was synthesized using the Superscript kit and PCR amplified a fragment located inside the HIV-1 env gene. Positive controls used on this work were whole blood samples obtained from HIV-positive patients. RESULTS: Needles from 73 HIV-positive patients were studied. In these samples, 7 were PCR-positive (9,6%). Each patient sample was compared to their respective viral load.
