Common Questions and Answers about Contractions you

contractions

Avatar f tn Do you have to have contractions in order to dialate? I keep reading storys of women saying " oh im dialated to 2 and didnt even know it" hows that even possible?
Avatar f tn Especially being a FTM, you dont know if what you are having is light contractions or just normal aches and pains. But, its not like you can feel it opening when slowly dialating.
Avatar f tn Braxton Hicks and contractions are two seperate things. When you are in labor, contractions are what happens when you dial ate is the best way to explain it. Braxton hicks feel like contractions but its more like muscle spasms.
Avatar f tn You will know contractions when they start...some people say it feels like really bad cramps but incant explain how it feels.. to me its way worse than cramps.. also your body will know when its time to push.
Avatar f tn All of this was really helpful. Thank you. Its funny how when you first get pregnant you imagine labor or I did anyway as the first time you experience contractions or feeling off..I didn't expect so many contractions beforehand that were false alarms. I didn't expect so many false alarms period. Its hard for me not to overthink it. I guess ill know or have some clue when d day is here.
Avatar f tn Lost bits of mucuous plug for about a week before. Had bad back pain the day before I started having contractions. The day I started having contractions I also felt "blah" as someone said above. I felt 'different' somehow but contractions didn't start until 12 hours after that. Daughter was born 2 days later.
Avatar f tn Igreen6201..what made you believe they were contractions...?. being that they felt like gas pains...and constipation...
7801868 tn?1395885718 Will you know when your contractions get stronger/closer? I didnt even know i was contracting until they hooked me up to a monitor today. Im 1 cm dilated and 38+5. Im scared that since i didnt notice these ones until earlier when i saw them, i wont know when to go to the hospital.
Avatar f tn and finally with my fourthit started with contractions this may be a little trickier for the first time moms since towarda the end of your pregnancy you will feel contractions which are not labor contractions....if you feel a contraction start timing it..labor contractions come in the same interval and they don't go away....non labor contractions are irregular and you don't have to stop doing what you're doing...labor xontractions will stop you in your tracks...
383536 tn?1225030613 And Sweetie YOU WILL KNOW! You will get these pains that you have never had before, and first you might not think about it, but once they start coming and coming faster and closer together, You will just know! and having a m/c will not effect when the baby comes.......
Avatar f tn Lol when I went in I didn't actually deliver for a couple hours. I'm sure you will be ok in not deLivering in your car lol. But you will want to time them just watch the clock when you have them. My doc suggested I wait until 5 minutes apart.
Avatar f tn Yes you can. I was 1cm at my 37 week appointment and cramped and had contractions and at NY 38 week no progress what so ever.
1666434 tn?1325262350 Every woman is different and gets different cues from her body that she is in labor. If you have had a baby before, what were some of the signs that you were in labor? Do you get sick? Did you have to go to the bathroom more? Did you abdomen start tightening? Also what tips helped you in your labor? Did walking help? Did a warm bath help?
7757724 tn?1396279586 No contractions here just belly tightening. And dilated a 3 cm.
Avatar f tn It can happen but it just depends. If you feel thristy when you wake up try drinking some water through out the night. I keep a water bottle next to my bed always refilled before I go to bed. And it def helps the nights where I wake up feeling like I ate half the dessert.
Avatar f tn I was 3 weeks early. My early labor contractions I would describe as "little fires" only in the front for me and they had a burning sensation. Later, in active labor, it was all the way around to my back and undeniably contractions. It is different for every woman and that is why there is no definitive answer. But, you will know. The early labor stuff can be confusing. My midwife gave me a good tip...if you think you are having contractions but aren't sure...
1399033 tn?1449587779 With my first kid I woke up one morning with lots of blood. Got scared was real young and didnt know what was going on. I didn't have any pains or contractions but still went to the hospital to get checked. They checked me and was dilated I think about a 5 so they kept me. 8hours later little man was born. With my second it was one day before my due date and I had been having horrible contractions and lots of bleeding.
Avatar f tn The pain from the contractions are the worst pain that you will ever feel. Like c step said "I wanted someone to kill me" I also gave in for the epidural at 5cm which worked perfectly! When I was 9 cm the epidural stopped working towards the end I felt everything even when midwife cut me. Also about it delaying your milk it isn't true. I got my milk on the 3rd day.
Avatar f tn If they are real contractions then they should continue despite all of that. That being said, my friend had real contractions off and on for about a week before she went to the hospital. The only reason she did was because she went to her prenatal appointment and they told her she was already 5cm. She had no idea. It's different for everyone. If your water breaks or they get super painful, definitely go in.
Avatar f tn Im just curious... how do you know when your labor contractions start. My doc told me to look for strong contactions that are 3 mins apart. But idk if they start off weak then get strong or do they just start stong with no warning. Im 38 weeks btw.
Avatar f tn I'm a ftm. Just wondering what you were doing when you realized labor was beginning. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I've known women who didn't notice early contractions so it may be possible you had more.
Avatar f tn Wow, no kidding, I'm glad you trusted your instincts, my contractions never got regular with my son, even when I was in full labor! Congratulations on your baby boy!!
Avatar f tn All that happens when you are induced is they give you an IV with a substance that kickstarts your contractions. Contractions are what push the baby out. So of course you are gonna feel a rush of contractions instead of gradually getting them naturally. It doesn't hurt more, it just hurts faster.
1255151 tn?1413891826 With my daughter she was measuring big and they wanted to talk c-section and I was freaked out. I hope you can get those contractions going and they start doing something. I think once I hit 35 weeks this weekend I'm going to start getting a lot more active and see if that helps at all. I guess just a little bit of progress would make me feel better because at this point I'm afraid we tried so hard to keep him in that he's not going to want to come out!!
