Contractions real or braxton hicks

Common Questions and Answers about Contractions real or braxton hicks

contractions

Avatar f tn m 35 weeks and went into the hospital recently for contractions..
Avatar f tn I'm a first time mom and only 7 months but I do know Braxton hicks contractions shouldn't last long nor carrying on through out the day constantly. I'd call my doctor!
Avatar f tn Braxton hicks aren't regular. They don't come in regular intervals. Also if u change ur position or walk, they should go away. Real contractions won't disappear from changing positions. Braxton hicks also don't grow in intensity.
Avatar f tn t sound like real contractions. They could be Braxton hicks. If they were the real contractions they will continue to intensify in pain, and you wouldn't be able to do much but try to breath through them. If you can still move around and walk you should be fine. I'm 36+3 and I get cramps a lot. But it's nothing. If you think they are real contractions try timing them. If they are within 5 minutes of each other and last longer then 60 seconds is go in to L&D just to be safe.
Avatar f tn but you can always go back to the hospital before you go home to make sure you are having actual contractions and not just braxton hicks still..
Avatar f tn Braxton Hicks for sure when you start getting the "real" ones you will know because they hurt and just get worse im over due now at 40 weeks and 4 days and i have gotten braxton hicks since 18 weeks and real contractions since 35 on and off but the real ones suck
Avatar n tn Braxton hicks contractions don't hurt. Real labor contractions feel nothing like BH as they tend to start off more like menstrual cramps which is tolerable in the beginning. I also agree that a fever isn't cause for going to the hospital unless ur unable to control it with Tylenol. Otherwise, just monitor ur symptoms, if ur contractions get stronger and closer together and last longer over timeand get more painful, then ur probably in labor and should call ur Dr to ask their advice.
Avatar f tn 30 weeks... Tmi but went #2 and then what I thought were braxton hicks started up, really tight and a ton of pressure.... Questioning it enough to ask here... Lots pelvic pressure.. Did I just set something off? Ugh!!! Second baby, first was all and only back pain so not sure what contractions feel like, I was induced first go round... Definitely having the hot back pain too.
Avatar f tn t drop all the way so I never had Braxton hicks o contractions, I will be 37 weeks on Wednesday nd I have no idea how to tell between false labor and real labor.
Avatar f tn I have had two children and do not recall having any back pain during contractions with either. In fact, the contractions with my son felt exactly the same as the Braxton-Hicks contractions I had been having for the month or so before I had him (started with the top of my uterus becoming rock hard and traveled downward). In fact, they weren't regular either.
Avatar n tn Braxton Hicks are uncomfortable (i had them since 18 weeks first pregnancy & from 16 weeks this pregnancy) they aren't normally painful though? Sometimes I get a cramp here or there with them but that's all. If the pain in increasing or they are getting closer together chances are they aren't Braxton hicks. They say if you sip water or change from sitting to walking or vice versa they should stop (this is never the case for me) hopefully it will work for you though?
Avatar f tn they say the way to tell real contractions from braxton hicks is to lay on your left side and drink water if they go away its only braxton hicks if it stays chances are you are having some real contractions...
Avatar f tn ^^agreed but u can actually time braxton hicks my doctor told me if I get braxton hicks 3-5 minutes apart for a hour to come in I actually experience it Friday I was having braxton hicks all day but they were only 10 minutes apart exactly so she wasn't concerned but braxton hicks takes my breath away from the few contractions I've felt trust u will feel the difference lbvs
Avatar n tn I'm 31 weeks today and I have been feeling the Braxton Hicks contractions for a few weeks now, but a few nights ago, I woke up in horrible pain with the tightening on a Braxton Hicks contraction. Was this a real contraction? Is it tooearly for me to have real cintractions? Could my due date be sooner than expected? Idk what to expect for the pain of a real contraction because this is my first pregnancy. Baby has also been moving around alot lately.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies I was wondering what contractions felt like.
10298511 tn?1414504869 If you can mistake them for Braxton Hicks contractions, they're probably not the real ones! I've been having regular braxton hicks every 2 to 30 minutes for about 3 weeks now. It stinks. I'll have 1 or 2 "real" contractions a day that I can't talk or walk through.
Avatar f tn Could also be Braxton hicks. I have had one child already but it's so hard for me to explain real contractions with this one I've had a lot of Braxton hicks and its been achy crampy tight . But real ones its a horrible pain to go threw surrounding your whole stomach.
Avatar f tn I know this may sound stupid, but I'm a little confused about what I should do. This is my third pregnancy, but the first two were induced. I would just go to the hospital to get checked, but I've been there twice this past week for stress test ... plus doctors twice a week for two months =/ ... I have two small children to top it off 5 years &* 18 month's. Stress test have been showing contractions for a few weeks now, but just Braxton hicks.
Avatar n tn Doctor said that Braxton hicks lasts between 10-20 seconds and real contractions lasts up to 60 seconds and more frequent.
Avatar f tn Time them, Braxton hicks contractions will not be consistent and will not get closer together and stronger as real contractions will. Braxton hicks are normal around 19-20 weeks, just your body practicing!
Avatar f tn Can't tell if I'm still getting b hicks or these could be real contractions ?
Avatar f tn Well ive had braxton hicks for about 3 months it i know how it feels,, braxton hicks are more like my stomach tightening but this is tightening plus cramps
