Common Questions and Answers about Contractions not getting closer together

contractions

Avatar f tn I'm 35 weeks and dilated to a 2 also! I'm excited but nervous at the same time. Do you have constant contractions? I've had contractions every day , very far apart but horribly strong are you going thru this?
Avatar f tn I think I'm in labor... Have had contractions for weeks though, refuse to share this info with anyone other than you ladies cause I don't want to jinx it. Loose BM'S and seriously painful tailbone postings, lower back is killing me etc... They're about five minutes apart right now!! Waiting until they're more intense since hospital is minutes away and in not getting sent home!!
Avatar n tn So I'm having what my midwives think are BH contracts; however they they don't act like anything any of the articles say they are. These this started four weeks ago and don't go away, They started off light and got closer together but didn't get stronger until the next week, where they jump further apart and throughout the week get closer together. The following week they did the same thing (jumped further apart, grown stronger and then got closer together).
8630236 tn?1417728154 It is getting close but feels like for ever i had a fast pregnancy till now lol but i had a ultrasound today he tried getting a pic but he kept blocking his face lol
Avatar f tn All of my labors have consisted of back contractions, as many women experience stomach contractions. They could be contractions. If they keep getting worst and they keep occurring closer together then I'd go get checked. You could also be experiencing sciatic nerve pain. Keep us posted.
8550901 tn?1400740690 I'm 36+1 and I get them too... they feel like a really painful menstrual cramp along with the typical tightening of the stomach. I asked my dr about it and they said it's Braxton hicks. Although the pain is very real. .. they aren't considered real contractions until they begin getting stronger and closer together... like every 5 minutes on the dot.
Avatar f tn If they get a lil closer together head to l&d! Ah I'm so jealous of you right now! Sounds like it might be baby time!
Avatar f tn I'm due in 6 days and since 2am today I have been having VERY bad stomach pain it's kept me awake. It's been getting stronger & closer together also. Are these contractions? Should I go in? I'm so miserable right now but hate going in unless it's absolutely necessary.
Avatar f tn I'm being induced on Wednesday too! My first was also induced but the contractions were not bad at all. I got the epidural at 8cm. I didn't know if i was going to be able to take the actual birthing part so i just took the epidural. But I don't see how people say it's worse.
Avatar f tn True labor does not go away with lying down, drinking fluids and get harder and closer together. To time a contraction start from the beginning you feel it to the beggining of the next one. I hope this helps and best of luck!! If it is labor make sure to eat something light but rich in protein before you go in, as long as you are not a c-section.
5727805 tn?1378193052 My midwife told me not to do anything until contractions r way closer together. So... It is 4.20am here in new Zealand. Hoping my baby comes today!
Avatar f tn They will get closer together, longer and stronger as time goes on. Its easy for me to say, having done it three times, but you will know for sure when baby decides to come! Honest!
Avatar f tn t worry unless you get painful ones and they become much closer together. I was told that and to watch for spotting bleeding discharge etc otherwise no worries :-) hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Are your contractions getting closer together and at regular intervals or are they irregular? Make sure youre timing them so you can tell, if getting closer than most likely in labor. You may be going into labor though you may not. If youre unsure you can always call midwife/doctor and let them know whats happening and theyll talk you thru it. All the best.
7732297 tn?1397446837 Oooo girl, you're in the final stretch. Twins come way earlier.
Avatar f tn Keep timing them if they get closer together call your doctor right away. Remember tho Braxtonhix contractions may make you think your in labor when in reality its your body getting ready for the real thing.
Avatar f tn Due date is Jan 5th.. just getting really uncomfortable over here as some of the contractions im getting are really strong.
Avatar f tn I work the night shift at a hospital. I worked last night and this morning a few hours before getting out I started getting contractions. They weren't too bad or close together but as the morning went on they started getting really strong and closer together. I am 30 weeks so it scared me to go into preterm labor! I came home and called my doctor and they said if they get closer together to go to the labor and delivery so they could monitor me.
Avatar f tn I'd say if the pains get any more intense stronger closer together then I'd be going into hospital also keep checking when you wipe for the colour because if there's blood then it means your cervix is thinning this also happened to me the night before I had my little lad and I noticed that afterwards my pains were a lot quicker together.
Avatar f tn Braxton hicks is were ur whole tummy gets hard and uncomfortable contractions are more of a period pain that gets stronger and closer together with pain starting in ur back moving to the front or vice versa. If u hope in the shower and it doesn't go away most likely the real thing.
Avatar f tn Usually you know it's real contractions when they become time able and closer together. A good rule of thumb to know when they're real and to head to the hospital is 4 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute each, for 1 hour. My contractions stetched into my back and gradually got more intense.
427382 tn?1298209586 Hi Jules - any update? I just saw this....every 10 mins I think they call "practice" contractions....as soon as they get more intense and closer together - that is real labor. And they will progressively get more intense.
1407055 tn?1281287314 you have to focus on your breathing to get through them) and are more consistent and closer together (about 4-5 minutes apart from the START of one to the START of the next) then call your doctor. Good luck!
Avatar f tn None in first pregnancy, then from about week 20 in second and then from week 8 in this pregnancy!
