So I assumed that he may be shy to speak English cause we speak our language with him at home. This year he started a new school in Sept, he still did not talk to anyone in the class. And he seemed to be nervous when I told him to talk with his classmates and teachers. He only talks to his close friend in English when they play together. They have been friends since he was two.
I'm the same except all my family speaks spanish his are americanized meaning they all are mexicans but speak english. My SIL kids are only spoken to in english n well that's wat they know yea they are hispanic bt they don't know the language bcz they aren't spoken to or are around it. N well my daughter she's around spanish n we speak to her in spanish n she knows spanish n english she pretty much speaks spanglish. Regardlesss.
Im only fluent in English but my fiance is fluent in spanish and english and I'm always begging him to teach her too. But i think we'll just have to visit grandma and grandpa lots.

My son just turned 4. He can read, count in English and Spanish, and has very good verbal skills. However, he zones out when in big groups (school and sports). His teacher says he zones out and does not respond to commands when they have rug time. When they go back to their small groups, he is tuned in and proves that he learned what he says. He can also follow commands well when spoken to directly.

I realized this by playing a movie on my computer and I had to replay certain parts to understand those words and sentences correctly. Also I have recently noticed that some of the music I listen to keeps playing on my head without my will, I tried to stop it but it is still bothering me. Now I am having even more problems concentrating on simple things.

My grandson lives in Mexico with my son whose first langauge was English but speaks Spanish very fluently and a mother who is a Mexican citizen and her first langauge was Spanish but speaks English well. He primarily hears Spanish daily except when my son reads to him nightly in English. He hears English constantly when they spend a week to two weeks with us about every two months.

What is happening is my guess is possible spanish is spoken a lot in your house, and although children do learn languages well it sometimes takes time for them to pick two up, he is getting mixed messages remember . Also stop feeding him, its you enabling it, put finger foods in front of him, say nothing no encouraging words , walk away and let him get on with it, if you are sat at the table eat your own food, when hes hungry and he sees you are not spoon feeding him he will eat.
