Avatar f tn I'm scared of childbirth. I am 37 weeks 4 days.I went to the doctors today and he said I'm 1 cm dialated and 75% effaced. This week or next the doctor thinks my baby girl will be here . I went to the childbirth class Sunday, it made me realize what to expect, but I know it will hurt. Any suggestions. Btw I'm getting an epidural.
Avatar f tn I had my first babygirl at 16 years old and I passed over my due date and for like 8 hours I was having a lot of contractions and no dialating at all....so I got induced and I had my lil babygirl she was born 8hours later after I got induce and I had it normal with no drugs at all even though deep inside the pain was killing me...
Avatar f tn So i was curious and started watching videos of childbirth and i am surprised at the amount of pain women seem to be going through, despite the fact so many women go thru it. Obviously is is extremely painful but i am a first time mom and i really want to know what to expect. i know i can do it, i am pretty good with pain and staying calm in painful situations, but i dont want anyone to sugar coat it.. can anyone share their experiences about the worst part of childbirth??

Avatar f tn You will probably start feeling what they call Braxton-Hicks contractions at any time. It is a tightness in your abdomen that can last anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. They are not painful, sometimes uncomfortable and VERY sporadic. Drinking a glass of water can make them stop, or changing position sometimes works too. Later in pregnancy, they will become more frequent and possibly more uncomfortable, but are perfectly normal and your bodies way of preparing for the real ones.
2216055 tn?1349382305 at least you are going in with a fighting chance. I think it is much more difficult to go in blind. Childbirth educators teach you about all the scenarios and possible interventions so you can made educated choices too. Good luck to you! You can do it!
Avatar f tn 00 in the morning. But 9:00pm i was not able to walk because of the pain. They did not offered me any drugs but if they would i take them i was just rolling in the bed trying not to scream so i do not lose energy my baby finally was born at 11:00am more then 24 hours of pain. I am 36 weeks now and i am reading about the drugs they offer for pain relief. I plan yo wait and see how the pain is and how fast i am progressing and then go from there.
511778 tn?1222823285 After having some contractions that only reg as lil ones on the monitor in L & D today Im for sure having an epidural. I've always been told by people I had a high tolarence for pain ( had fillings and dental work without meds, cyst next to my eye removed with out meds) but these lil contractions I was having today hurt and dont even get me started on the exam.
Avatar f tn The body is an amazing machine especially when you roll with it & not fight it & dobt try to be in control ..
Avatar f tn I have a friend who gave birth with no epidural or anything at 15. She said it hurt but it was worth it in the end. You can do if you set your mind to it and don't give up once the pain increases.
Avatar f tn Braxton Hicks are also called “practice contractions” because they are a preparation for the real event and allow the opportunity to practice the breathing exercises taught in childbirth classes.
Avatar f tn re baby is out and in your arms. The contractions felt like intense menstrual cramps and can be managed by breathing through each one. I basically get in my own world when I'm in labor. I don't talk to anyone including my husband. I take deep breaths through each contraction. The breathing is so important for both you and the baby. It helps to relax the body and it's important not fight the contractions. I take them one at a time and remember to breathe through each one.
1293887 tn?1332702847 The contractions were continuous for several hours with no breaks in between contractions so after my doctor finished screaming at the nurse in the hallway he basically gave me no choice and said ur getting the epidural! Lol at that time they could have beat me with a stick and i would have said ok if it would have made the pain stop! Later on when it was time to push they shut it off and I pushed for 3 hrs with nothing. Rccresswell u watch too much tv!!!
689528 tn?1364135841 Most important thing is to not freak yourself out. All depends on your pain tolerance level. Personally, my first was natural, not by choice, but it wasn't that bad. By the time the anaesthesiologist got there I had progressed too far and they couldn't do the epidural. Contractions got pretty bad but never too much to handle. My second two kids I had epidural.
Avatar f tn Is worth taking childbirth classes? I'm a FTM and am nervous about delivery and being in labor. I've read things but not sure if the classes will benefit me. What are your thoughts?
Avatar n tn I tried but my body doesn't relax in between contractions so imagine a solid 16 hour contraction...that's when I finally got my epidural. The relaxing g in between is what causes labor to move forward, not the Contraction themselves. Whole I could, I found standing in the shower helped. My labor room had a shower in it. I eventually had to have an emergency c section but I also pushed for 7 hours as well so feel I got to experience enough of "natural" childbirth to understand.
3197047 tn?1345768894 My sister went into the hospital because of contractions and found out she was 6 cm dilated and in active labor….you can't really tell you are actually dilated unless you check yourself or the doctors check you.
Avatar f tn Red raspberry leaf tea is said to strengthen uterine muscles and tone the pelvic floor in preparation for childbirth, as well as assist with breastmilk supply.. I'm going to start drinking a cup a day this week once I hit 30 weeks!
Avatar f tn t either best thing to do is to find a position comfy for urself m breathe through ur contractions, I was induced which app makes for more painful contractions but if ur comfy n breathe through them that helped me, as for the pushing part I found that easier than the contractions because your relieveing the pressure caused by contractions, yes it burns..
Avatar f tn after my 6 th child I decided to get my tubes tied.my youngest is 9 years old now.my oldest is 23 years old.just in the last 3year's I have been getting cramping so bad that it feels like contractions really bad pain.but it has only happened a few times and each time it was right after sex anyone have this happen? Avatar f tn m planning on having on all natural vaginal birth with only the typical pain relief thru an IV during contractions. So, I was wondering if any of you mommies who have went thru an all natural childbirth have any tips or advice that I may can use? I haven't gotten to take any childbirth classes, so any tips will be helpful. Thank you!
1209036 tn?1299178657 I have had 2 natural childbirths and am planning on having this one naturally as well, I have not had a waterbirth but I did use the tub to help sooth the pain of contractions (which I found quit painful but in the end I felt wonderful for doing it naturally) It is sooo worth it and congratulations to you for making this decision.
Avatar n tn 55am and knew i was in labor. By the time i made it to the hospital around 1pm my contractions (that i was hardly feeling) were only 3 minutes apart and about an hour later when they checked me i was 7cm and fully effaced. I walked the labor loop for an hour or so, then they broke my water and found that i was 8cm. No more than an hour later my little girl was finally here and my midwife was finally able to see a velamentous cord insertion in person.
Avatar f tn I was induced with my first two had very little pain contractions didn't even make me cry had baby within a couple hrs of contractions starting both times. Goodluck you will do great.
Avatar f tn They check for position of baby to make sure head is there, and not breech. Also to check if you're dialated. I am also 38 Weeks today, and will have my check-up in a few hours. NOT looking forward to it because it always stirs up the contractions! I'm pretty sure this may just get the baby going since he's been moving in position and causing all sorts of contractions lately!
