when I get occasionally string contractions, I get realllly sick to my stomache, so ill probably puke during labor.
Ftm and I'll be 40 weeks on Friday and I'm 2 cm dilated. My Dr. swept my membranes this morning and I can't tell if I'm in true labor. Pretty sure I'm having contractions about 7 minutes apart and the tightening is in my lower stomach with back pains. How do I know when I need to go to the hospital?

Im not allowed to have sex without a condom anymore due to the fact it caused me to have contractions for 5 hours at 30 weeks. My doctor said the male hormone in the semen can bring on labor. So my suggestion is to start condoming up around 30 weeks. I'd like to save anyone from having 5 hours worth of contractions for no good reason. It wasn't fun, sunshine, and rainbows. lol It doesnt hurt the baby though.
I never felt the period cramps while in labor. Everything I felt was in my lower back (back labor) it was terrible.
They tend to be much less painful than true labor contractions. One way known to sometimes stop Braxton hicks contractions is to take a walk. With true labor, this would not stop them and in fact can increase them. Resting will also help stop them. Your cervcix may dilate a little bit but it does so over time any way. But Braxton hicks can start as early as your second trimester. They do not cause you to dilate as in preparation for labor or anything like that.
For me they started off feeling like a cramping/tensing feeling in my uterus, mostly at the bottom but definitely throughout. They typically start off mild & continue to build on themselves as labor progresses. There will be peaks & valley's: at the beginning of the contraction you start in the valley & then the pain will increase until it peaks & then you'll travel back down to the valley.
You could very well be having true labor contractions. BH contractions are irregular and don't happen often. If you feel more then 5 in an hr you could be in labor. Im only 32wks thought I was having BH contractions but they are actually preterm labor contractions. My doc wants me resting so I don't go into labor. Be careful and give your doc a call good luck!

You should see if they're timeable, coming at certain intervals, if they're progressing in painfulness. It may be the beginning stages of labor, but if it were active labor you'd definitely be in a lot of pain from the contractions right now since it started last night. It may turn into active labor, it may go away, but I wouldn't go in to the hospital until you're about 5mins between contractions or they're getting uncomfortable to where you can't talk through them.
I have only experienced being induced labor, not regular. But I got an epidural after only 3 or 4 contractions because it was very painful. I think I have a pretty good pain tolerance but I was not going to make it with drugs!
Been having diarrhea for the past 2 days.. Is it true that's a sign labor can happen any day now? I'm 38 weeks.
