Before i have a bowel movement;i get really bad cramps in my tummy! Today i also have loose stools and Im worried that this would cause harm to the baby? I had IBS well before i was pregnant but the meds i was on for that, my doctor told me to stop taking them wen i found out i was preg! Im just worried that this problem i have could harm the baby?
Yes, many women don't lose their plug until well after labor starts. Many also lose it during a bowel movement and never notice.
My wife had bowel problems 12 years ago and had two years of diagnostic tests and research into why she could not pass stools. They found nothing so she found her own remedy of using dulcolax everyday for the past 12 years. We are now wanting to have a baby, but know that dulcolax can cause uterine contractions. To me, at that time, they ended up feeling like extremely strong cramps for a bowel movement. The kind you get when you have an extremely upset tummy but more intense.
Now, however, I have experienced painful menstrual cramps, and people described it pretty accurately. It is a very very strong period cramp feeling that goes into your lower back and also extends higher in your abdomen than a normal period cramp. I hope that helped some.

Sometimes, during the urgent bowel movement, extreme nausea (i sometimes vomit after bowel movement). usually, after the movement of substance out of my bowels, the nausea stops. it seems as if the actual movement of substance THRU the bowels causes nausea in my stomach. any suggestions as to other options? i tried logging diet and bm for a month and found no clues as to dietary causes. thank you so much for your time.
38+4 weeks and just got brought out of a dead sleep because my stomach hurt so bad. I keep thinking that I'm going to have a bowel movement but everytime I try nothing happens. The severity of the cramping, contractions and bowel movements can cause baby to have a bowel movement while in the womb. Baby can then inhale this bowel movement causing breathing problems, asfixiation and any number of other issues.
Also if baby is not ready or in an awkward position it can cause problems too.
Not every case is like this, some ppl take it with no problems, but I wouldn't take the risk.

For the past two days I have been having really bad lower back pain. Its like a sharp & dull pain at the same time. I'm thinking its the baby lowering down in my back. Sorry if its tmi, but its gotten to the point to where I cant have a bowel movement or gas pass through. I'm up all night dealing with this pain. I'm 39 weeks. Could this be back contractions?
Still no bowel movement and i don't think these are contractions....took 1.5 tsp 3 times today every 4 hours. Currently in so much pain from cramps. Tmi but I haven't had a bowel movement for 2 days so was really hoping castor oil will serve 2 purposes for me. Maybe these very painful cramps will turn into regular contractions. They are so painful, I can't even speak when I get them.
Are they coming and going? Is it tolerable or not? My contractions felt like a period cramp that wrapped around my back. It honestly felt like I had to have a bowel movement and couldn't. If they continue either way I'd get it checked and see what's causing them.
So I had a wonderful baby 4 months ago and I wasnt haveing trouble having a bowel movement for like the first 3-4weeks. But after those weeks every single time I go it's a horrible pain.
