Contractions before term

Common Questions and Answers about Contractions before term

contractions

Avatar n tn I did not think much of this as I had this throughout my entire pregnancy with my first daughter. Then about 8pm it changed it started feeling like contractions and they were shooting into my back. They were real spiratic. But from what I have read Braxton Hicks are not painful. Well these were but they lasted about 1 hour. I chugged water because I had read that dehydration can lead to this.
Avatar f tn I'm 31w 2d and had to be given shots last night to stop labor. Today, the contractions aren't as frequent but I still feel alot of pressure. Am I more likely to give birth before I'm full term since they've already had to stop it once?? Can I request the steroid shot to help her lungs develop just in case??
Avatar f tn Preterm labor is labor before 37 weeks. 37 weeks is considered term so birth before then is considered preterm or early.
Avatar m tn Im currently 35w 5d & having pretty frequent, extremely uncomfortable contractions. they do not stop w changing position or drinking water & laying on my left side. at my last OB appt (4 days ago), I was a fingertip dilated. this is my second child and my first was born at 38 weeks..is this normal? could my due date be off by a whole month? so confused.
Avatar f tn I dont think I am going full term with my first baby I have already gone into pre labor last week and I am About to be 30 weeks Saturday her due date is December 23rd I still have 10 weeks to go and am having contractions at 29weeks I just hope she will wait just a few more weeks I hope anyone else having issues and I am not dilated at all
Avatar f tn 34 weeks today. Went to the hospital Thurs. Night BC I was having contractions. Got hooked up to the monitor, and sure enough it was contractions. Not consistent and they checked to see if I was dilated, and I wasn't. I had 10 contractions yesterday. But, they weren't consistent. What are the odds of me going into full blown labor sooner than my due date? I'm a 2nd time mother, planned c section...
7757724 tn?1396279586 Well im 37weeks and 1days and for the past few days i've been having contractions at night only too its like right before bed and when i'm up i feel him balling or tighting up and putting pressure down there which hurts a little idk what to do i have a appointment on the 4th so i'll be asking my doctor about it good luck ladies
Avatar n tn At 33 weeks and 2 days , I started having contractions within 5 minutes apart . I was checked into L/D by 10:30pm and put on monitors and all . Well , they had given me two shots to stop the contractions.. And all it did was raise my pulse and cause me to shake and lose my breath . Today , I am 33 weeks and 5 days.. Only 3 days after the first set of contractions , and I'm beginning to get them again .
175317 tn?1256853321 my dr called them "local contractions" (maybe another term for braxton hicks?) and said they're nothing to worry about. I've been getting them for weeks now! I'm 22w and think I remember the first ones around 15 or so. They're not as uncomfortable now as they were. But a lot of times when I've been sitting or laying a certain way and I stand or shift positions I'll get tightening. Goes away after a few seconds though. I've also been able to massage them out.
Avatar m tn My wife is 37 1/2 weeks pregnant and was in pre-term labor at 33 weeks. She has been on bed-rest since then. She has been admitted three times in order to stop the contractions. She has contractions all day and night approx 6 min apart, with some lasting 25 min or longer. It has been a very difficult time for her and she is very concerned about the strain put on our baby. We have a two yr old who was delivered emergency C-section after she turned bradycardic secondary to my wife being induced.
Avatar f tn I want to hear about your labor stories. What happened before you went into labor? Did your water break, bad contractions, bad back pain etc? How long did the symptoms last before you actually went into the hospital? Did you do anything crazy or different that day to bring on labor? Tell me your stories! I'm sure other FTM would love to hear them as well!
Avatar f tn (Full-term is 39 to 40 weeks. Babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term, 41 weeks is late term, and those born after 42 are post-term.
299260 tn?1304216105 Hi. I was 1cm dilated on 12/31. I'll be checked again tomorrow & it just makes me curious to know how many cm dilated you have to be before you're admitted to the hospital. I also have another fetal fibronectin test. If that's positive, I'll be admitted anyway, but I'm curious about dilation.
4235497 tn?1356982472 Who's full term? What new symptoms do you have? What symptoms have gone away since becoming full term or within the last few weeks/days? I have had way more mucus since losing my plug. My heart burn went away (thank God). My back ache has gotten worst! Contractions come more regularly now and insomnia is definitely at its worst.
Avatar f tn I was having contractions around that time as well but I never felt any of them. Its just BH contractions which prepare your body but it doesn't mean that you are going to go into labor anytime soon.
Avatar f tn I'm 35+5 and I'm scheduled to be induced at 37 weeks due to complications. However today my doctor told me that it's safe if my baby comes any time now and it would be ideal if I went into labor myself without being medically induced and that I can try self inducing.
9023883 tn?1402943375 I'm 35+6 and last night went to the ER for contractions. Well it was real labor contractions. I was dilated to a 1 and 70% effaced. Two hours later still a one but 80% effaced. They sent me home after no pregross. The on call Dr said my baby girl will be here any day. Just keep us in your prayers please. They said I was too far along for the steroid shots.
5691681 tn?1375735348 So my Dr went ahead and scheduled my csection for the 27 of December. He said the hospital won't let him schedule it before 39 weeks unless it's a medical reason. But then he said that I won't make it till Christmas, so I'm confused. He seems to think that I'll have my baby around the 15th or so of December, i thought it was dangerous for me to go into labor or have my water break since i have to have a csection?
730826 tn?1317943334 if it cramping pains it could be contractions it could be braxton hicks (fake contractions) i have been getting them i am 32 weeks although i must say not as intense as you are saying your's are if you are in that much pain and brought to tears i would go to the docs / hospital just to be sure, i got the same advice of people when i started to get them if they get very painfull or regular then go to hospital, you are 37 weeks so baby is almost full term my midwife said baby can come anytime
5458962 tn?1374337013 Im having contractions dont knoe if braxton hicks but a hard time breathing .
Avatar f tn Also, if you eat something that give you a stomachache you can begin the onset of contractions. Double cheeseburgers seem to do it for me! Besides eating food, you could take a long walk or bounce on an exercise ball.
8365413 tn?1407251515 Had upper back contractions last night!Took a shower and took Tylenol & It didn't work. Tossed and turned all night. Lost part of my mucus plug this a.m. & Now im having mild cramps. Should I wait it out before calling my dr?
Avatar f tn This pregnancy however is completely different i have been gettin contractions for about a week and dilated two centimeters... needless to say i am sick and tired of being pregnant... does anyone know a way to jumpstart labor.???
Avatar f tn I was admitted at 25 weeks with contractions 3 to 5 minutes apart. They were able to control them by upping the dose to 20mg every 8 hours. I am 50% and 1cm, but 1cm can be normal since this isnt my first pregnancy. But cervix is soft and last week started losing mucus and doctor confirmed my cervix is shedding. I am also measuring 2-3 weeks ahead every appointment for the past 6 weeks (been going weekly). Anyone have contractions all the time, preterm labor signs and still went fullterm?
Avatar f tn t get off the toilet for 1.5hrs then I lost my mucus plug! Within 20muns I started having mild contractions and spotting so went to hospital. Within 3hrs of losing my plug I was having awful painful contractions 3mins apart. They stopped in 3 times times tho and 2wks later I was allowed home. Hope that info helps!
