Common Questions and Answers about Contractions before birth

contractions

Avatar f tn You're not supposed to pump before birth. Like the above post said, it can cause contractions. Talk to your doc.
Avatar f tn I want to hear about your labor stories. What happened before you went into labor? Did your water break, bad contractions, bad back pain etc? How long did the symptoms last before you actually went into the hospital? Did you do anything crazy or different that day to bring on labor? Tell me your stories! I'm sure other FTM would love to hear them as well!
Avatar f tn I haven't shaved in a long time and I actually read that shaving before giving birth can cause infection. So no, I will not be shaving.
Avatar n tn Have any of you that have given birth before had period like cramps before you went into labor?
Avatar f tn This is defiantly milk. I had colostrum at 16 weeks along but it changed in the last day or so.
Avatar f tn s ok from 36 weeks on because some mothers are still breastfeeding their older children while pregnant and your colostrum is produced until your milk comes in AFTER birth. However some doctors say not to bc it could cause contractions, but I don't see the harm in it if ur leaking and 37 weeks. Anyone actually ever do this?
Avatar f tn They say the baby really slows down before birth. But my sister-in-law just had her baby and said he was moving around during birth. I guess in between contractions. Im confused cuz im 39+5 and yesterday my baby was moving non stop and today he is slow and barely moving. So has anyone ever paid attention to the baby moving before or during labor?
Avatar f tn Can you tell me your birth experience? For how long you were in labor and so on.. And im just wondering arent there breaks between the contractions? And for how long?
Avatar f tn Felt nauseous all morning and finally threw up at 1. Tried taking a bath before I got sick but its not helping. I am still having contractions maybe 10 minutes apart. Some are stronger then others. I feel lots of pressure but water has not broke and I don't think I have lost my plug. I'm 38&3 weeks. I just can't get over this nauseous feeling...
Avatar f tn Does your baby tend to be more active or less active before birth? ! Ftm and I'm having contractions and 38 weeks. No clue if dialated yet doc doesn't check until 39 weeks i guess. My little one been pretty active and was just curious if anyone else experienced baby being more active before birth. I feel baby be here any day now but who knows? !
Avatar f tn This labor was very bizarre. I noticed irregular contractions about 9pm. Started timing them when I laid down at 10:30 PM as I assumed it was another round of false labor. 2 hours later they were still 10 minutes and getting stronger. I got up and they got more like 5-7 minutes apart. Kids were sent to grandma's and my husband and I headed in since my midwife advised me to go in early. .. And I wanted to get admission questions or if the way before I was hurting too bad.
Avatar n tn i would like to know about labor ....what do contractions feel like?.. The After birth?...
10311384 tn?1416860935 I'm almost 30 weeks on Wednesday. Was having some contractions in the morning, good thing I had a doctors appointment the same morning. They ended up sending me to L&D and I had shots to stop the contractions and to help with my baby's lungs. They told me if anymore contractions (5 in an hour) start to head back. So far I'm having small contractions.
Avatar f tn It could stimulate contractions so I'd wait to play with it till at least 37 weeks.
6661116 tn?1383510786 I was a bit suspicious cuz my contractions never hurt before..by 10 that night went in and put me on the monitor said they were 5 mins apart and and I was 3 cm and about 70 % effaced and sent me home..didn't sleep atallll the contractions were really painful..I was soooo mad they sent me home cuz I knew this had to be labor!!
Avatar f tn Yes you can, but at this stage it may be deadly for your baby, if you think you may be going into labor contact your doctor, the safest time for a baby to be born is after 37 weeks, before that it's preterm and may require a nicu stay for your baby, being so young you're at risk for preterm labor, so definitely tell your doctor, good luck hun!
8906457 tn?1406849110 Can someone explain exactly how natural birth is? Also how contractions are? Im not sure if I had them or not I think it was during sex because it was a cramping feeling on the side of my stomach. Can someone please leave me Comments! Thanks!
Avatar f tn It hurts yes but you cannot have love without suffering. I had preterm labor contractions for four days before and I was nervous once my water broke because but now that I'm expecting baby #2 I ask not nervous knowing now what to expect ;) It was such av beautiful experience (no yelling in pain like they show in movies) I just pushed with all my might like a champ and what Really motivated me was wanting to know if I was about to have a boy or girl ...
178590 tn?1294176767 ok so I know alot of women get the colistrum that leaks before birth but I was curious can you get a head start on packing away the milk by pumping or does you milk not come til the babies are here?
10665671 tn?1413744449 I had contractions for about 11 before they got to 5 minutes apart for an hour and it was another hour before I got admitted to the hospital at which point I had an epidural. I hadn't planned to, but I was exhausted and in so much pain that I changed my mind. I had been able to get in a warm bath, walk around, eat, lay on my side, and sit right up until I got the epidural.
Avatar f tn d have to get a bag of iv fluid in me before I could get epidural. It was taking forever and I was in a lot of pain. Contractions were very close at this point. I asked if I'd get and epidural soon since the bag was almost empty the nurse said I could probably get it as long as I wasnt too far dialated. She checked and I was at 9 1/2 cm. I was too late for an epidural as well. I was bawling the pain was bad and contractions were pretty much one after another with little break.
Avatar n tn So I've herd so many pregnancy stories about taking a shower & getting pretty when ur having contractions & then go to the hospital & give birth. I wanna do that too bc I wanna get there clean & pretty lol but I'm wondering if anybody has done that when their water breaks??? Or just wen ur having contractions??
2216055 tn?1349382305 I am seriously considering having a natural birth, the hospital where I am delivering provides duahs. So I'll have a duah and as for right now I want to go natural. Any ladies experienced both natural birth and births with epidurals to compare.
5683121 tn?1375856848 Midwife told me to go for a walk then contractions were a couple minutes apart. I tried the water birth tub but i wasn't comfortable so ended up on the bed, for pain relief i had gas. The rest went painful but good and at 3.05pm i had my baby boy. Marlon he weighed 9lb 10oz and i only had grazing. He was born on the 4th March. Just wanted to share because my contractions were irregular most of the time even though in real labour you are supposed to have regular ones.
3104777 tn?1363885649 I was planning on a natural unmedicated birth as most of you know, I woke up at 7am with contractions. We left for the hospital around 3 when my contractions were about 4 mins apart. When I got to the birth center they monitored me for a bit anf said he looked a little sleepy and dif several things to stimulate him. They then had my walk for 2 hours.
Avatar f tn I am a first time mommy and I really want a natural birth. I am looking for tips or techniques to get through this. I have been told about the Bradley Method but I am unable to find a class in my area that will end before I deliver. I am 14+4 weeks. Please do not try and talk me into an epidural. I work in the medical field and have decided that is not the route for me. I am open to any other form of pain management but would like to try with the least amount of intervention as possible.
