Avatar m tn Anytime there is chest pain present it can be alarming due to the possibility of cardiac problems. But, in your case, I would lean toward respiratory or gastro-intestinal issues. The persistent cough, along with the possible presence of lingering congestion, could be causing your upper airways and throat to be inflamed and sore. Also, there could be a possibility of a hiatal hernia. Frequent or hard coughing is a risk factor. I hope that you will consider seeing a physician. Good luck.
Avatar f tn What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better.
Avatar n tn I have had severe chest congestion, a sharp pain deep in the center of my chest, it causes shallow breathing because it hurts to breath in and causes a severe cough attack. This has returned 3 times now in the past three months. The first time I came down with this, I went to my primary care dr.
Avatar n tn May any of this be side effects of lavoquin or his chest congestion, which now im questioning if it is a congestion anymore. How can you decipher chest pain from chest congestion vs.
Avatar n tn For about a year now I have had a cough and chest congestion, my doctor has switched my asthma medications several times thinking that might be the reason for my cough and congestion, she's tried many different types of allery medications, I have been to the pulmonologist, had a chest x-ray and nothing was found, but the cough and congestion I still have.
Avatar f tn I have severe chest congestion. This has been going on for about 3 months. It's strange because I will have constant congestion and cough one day and the next day I will be almost clear. I know that if I have congestion one day the next day I will not. I plan my days accordingly. My dr. has put me on antiboitics and presidone twice in the last 3 months, I've had a chest x-ray last week, shows nothing. I have had allergies all my life.
Avatar n tn Today I am trying to get an appointment with an allergist. I just want the chest pain to go away. The hives I can deal with! I told the older doctor that I had looked up on line and found quite a few people who have chest pain with hives; I'm not the only one. All he said was, "hmmm no doubt"...... Unfortunately, the one on the internet are also looking for answers and there seems to be too few of them out there.
Avatar m tn It is not tightness caused by congestion. If feels like my chest is heavy or the muscles are laboring more to suck air into my lungs. Today the pain in the back feels more like a burning sensation. It also seems like my face is a little swollen. Any thoughts and help will be appreciated...
1105253 tn?1257992401 People with GERD also tend to have a frequent cough, chest tightness, chest pain, neck pain, etc, because stomach acid is actually getting into your lungs. I notice that I often get pvcs when taking a deep breath and this is usually when my GERD symptoms are acting up. I really don't understand the correlation myself. lol.
Avatar f tn i am stressed alot of the time over simple things so could it be stress thats causing the pain?the pain is centre of my chest and slightly over to the left. always in the same place.
Avatar f tn After eating certain foods I get quite a bit of mucus build-up in my lungs and find myself coughing a lot after meals. I'm 17 years old and don't think this is due to acid reflux as I don't have any other symptoms and am quite young. I notice it immediately after I finish eating (not sure if it actually starts during eating as I'm not really focused on how my chest feels while eating). Does anyone have any idea of what this may be?
Avatar f tn My question is the the last 3 months as I am laying down for a while I get a gurggle feeling in my chest and it almost feels like congestion so I make a cough to see if that would help and I have no congestion at all and the cough doesnt help. When I stand for a minute is when it will go away. Can you please tell me what this means or if I should go get a 2nd opinion??? Heart related issues runs on my mother side of the family and just about everyone has an issue.
Avatar m tn I just moved to Denver from Chicago. Right before we left, I could tell I had a sinus infection, as I have a long history of sinus issues. I also have stomach issues, history of a couple ulcers. A couple of ENT's have told me I have obvious signs of GERD, though I don't often have indigestion, sometimes I can taste acid in the morning. Anyway, I saw a doc when I arrived in Denver and she gave me Biaxin for the sinus infection. Only it doesn't seem to have cleared up.
Avatar f tn I have had many symptoms of Pnemonia, recently including a cough, chest pain, upper back pain, shortness of breath, shoulder and neck pain, and congestion. I have had a cough and chest pain for months now. I was given antibiotics, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I am young and have had no prior issues, but this is making it hard to complete daily tasks. Could it be Pnemonia or something else?
Avatar f tn Bed rest, drinking plenty of water and hot drinks such as herbal teas are often the best treatments for speeding recovery from chest pain. Inhaling steam can also help to reduce congestion and kill germs on contact – and is particularly beneficial for your age. Antibiotics or pain relievers such as paracetamol may also be prescribed for pain .
Avatar m tn Hello, A clinical examination and work up is important for correct diagnosis and management.Fever, chest pain and congestion can be due to an infection like pneumonia. High fever can be a symptom of infection or septicaemia.Hypotension, hypovolaemia, angina all can cause chest pain. Since she is unable to walk a portable X-ray chest may be helpful. Avatar n tn t anything painful, just uncomfortable, and I assumed that I was developing some congestion due to a cold. 2 weeks later, I still have the pressure in my chest, but I never developed a cough or fever or anything else that I would associate with a common sickness. It seems to get worse when I do have to walk up stairs or exert myself, but it never goes away even when I have been resting for several hours. This morning I was almost late to a class so I was out of breath when I got there.

Avatar m tn Examples of symptoms to watch for are fever, coughing up colored phlegm, pain in your chest when you cough, shortness of breath, or any symptoms lasting more than 10 days or so. Smokers are more likely to get bacterial chest infections, so if you are, be especially aware of these symptoms.
