Avatar f tn and I just explained this to a ne member jefe55 Some times with a blow to the head if u have Chiari which is a malformation of the skull it can trigger symptoms that may have gone unnoticed until this happens....if u r blow to the head causes the tonsils to herniate and cause symptoms but the skull is of "normal" size...if so, this is not Chiari but low lying tonsils....and they may retract.... As in George Clooney's case he did require surgery....
Avatar f tn I had about five drinks on an empty stomach (not one of my better decisions), and it hit me unusually hard. I never have issues remembering nights even with heavy drinking, but I'm really foggy about most of the details of the later half of my night. My friend told me I hit the back of my head really hard on a concrete wall (more than once).
Avatar f tn Yesterday I suffered mild blow to the head. I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.
Avatar m tn I went to a basketball game in Scotland about 4 days ago and I got hit in the back of the head really hard. I felt a bit dizzy and sick afterwards. Now my head is starting to hurt and my vision is a bit blurry. Could I be concussed?
Avatar n tn Who. A cuncussion is a result of a blow to a head. Forgive me if I don't see the connection between "tire blow-out" and "head injury". If there was a concussion there is a "window of opportunity" to prevent swelling that has probably passed. If these symptoms are present without a blow to the head he needs an evaluation for a stroke. He should be evaluated at an emergency room ASAP.
Avatar f tn The first was a blow to the front of my head and I was unconscious for 3 1/2 hours. The second was a blow to the back of my head, were I was dizzy immediately afterwards (then it went away). After a few hours the dizziness came back and I had lost all memories of those few hours has well has my short term memory for the following 5h (according to a friend I was with). The tricky thing comes with everything else that happened afterwards.
446829 tn?1212425523 i my brief medical research post concussive headaches result from a blow to the bak of the head and i found no evidence supporting a blow to the head causing tension headaches. A occupational health doctor states tension headaches whereas an ER doctor and neurologist state post concussive headaches. i suffer from dull to sharp pain from quick burst to lasting minutes to hours. i sometimes have to rest after an attack to relieve the pain.

Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have a concussion. A concussion is a mild brain injury caused by a knock or blow to the head or a sudden change in motion. See a doctor just in case.

Avatar n tn Numbness and tingling in the hands is something I live with permanently some days are worse then others. My numbness is the result of injuries to the neck. When the area is inflamed or the disc bulges it pushes on the nerves causing this numbness. Anytime a person goes unconscious he/she should immediately see a doctor to check for concussion. If the GP appointment is immediately then see him, if not then get to a doctor at ER.

Avatar n tn You may want to see a doctor depending on the severity of a blow to the head that can cause a blood clot.
Avatar f tn symptoms typically developed without a painful blow to the head. She just insisted that I never even had a concussion and went on to say that obviously I am prone to imagined/mentally induced ailments since I was diagnosed with CFS/Fibromyaligia in my early 20's (I'm in my late 30's now and up til now have lived a pretty normal life, learned to live with it/manage it) and she doesn't believe that it is a real illness.
Avatar f tn I have read that internal brain bleeding can occur as long as 6 or 7 weeks after a hard blow on the head, and by the time you have the symptoms of it, it has progressed to the point of being dangerous and needing possible surgery. Please see your doctor ASAP!!
Avatar m tn A concussion is a specific syndrome secondary to a blow to the head. Impacts to the skull that produce a concussion can certainly cause death, if not quickly addressed in an appropriate medical facility. The cause of death is usually due to lack of oxygen to the brain secondary to swelling and the oclusion of the supply of blood and nutrients. To cut to the chase, just because you or your child has a concussion does not mean you are going to die.
Avatar m tn My experience was being taken to the ER, after several blows to the temple area of my head, where I was reported to have been Ox3 upon examination and denying a loss of conscientiousness. Yet I cannot remember the time in the ER until shortly before. This is highly perplexing to me. Can that happen?
Avatar f tn John's concussion occured over a year ago. Is it too late for treatment? What are the treatment options? He has also been on quite a few medications to deal with this sleep problems. Could any medications that are either used to help with sleep or used to promote day time wakefulness cause hperosmia?
Avatar n tn I had one my junior year, which was not too serious, and the effects of it soon cleared up. However, the next year, I received a violent blow to the head (football again) in which my mouthpiece wasn't in correctly. I was wearing a revolution helmet, the supposedly concussion proof helmets, which cracked all the way down the side from where I got hit. I blacked out momentarily and got up a few moments later having little recollection as to what happened.
16948797 tn?1452582673 One school of thought is that with every concussion there is some irreversible damage to the brain. Maybe yes. Maybe no. Resting and going to sleep after a blow to the head are definitely not appropriate.
Avatar f tn My husband fell head first into a concrete barrier. The C1 was fractured in three places and he had a severe concussion concussion. Since then he’s had excessive saliva resulting in excessive coughing. He’s coughing several times a minute. Is there any connection between brain trauma and excessive saliva?
