Common Questions and Answers about Concussion symptoms fever

concussion

Avatar m tn Hi my name is kayla and i was in a car accident a couple days ago and since yesterday i keep getting a fever is it normal to get a fever after a car accident?
Avatar f tn I diagnosed concussion because I had pretty much all the symptoms of one. And I didn't go to the hospital for two reasons 1) I didn't feel like trusting my driving skills after that 2) I did a typical test for "serious" head trama (watching what your eyes do, how long you can focus on things ext) so I knew it wasn't "serious" so I didn't think to go. I know thats bad but what can I say.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn re supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all. Most of my symptoms of the concussion have gone away, aside from double vision. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn A concussion can last for weeks after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar f tn Hello. Thank you for the information. It is very interesting, as I have never heard of PCS before. Since I originally posted, I have received a neurologists report that says I have damage to the first three cervical vertebrae, damage to the greater occipital nerve, and he recommends an MRI to rule out other things such as syrinx, herniated disc, etc. I imagine it will take months to get an MRI, if ever.
Avatar m tn t have him take a hot bath until his fever is gone. You should never take a hot bath with a fever it will make the fever go up and you can get brain damage if the fever gets too high. It is contrary to some of the old ways of thinking. Now they don't even want you to use ice. Just Tylenol or ibuprofen /or naproxen. The CRP just shows inflammation. It could be due to infection or a lot of things. Let me know if you can think of anything symptom wise or if you have any questions.
Avatar f tn ASO is an antibody which is generated in response to infection by Group A streptococci. Diseases which cause high ASO titer are rheumatic fever, scarlet fever, erysipelas, acute post streptococcal glomerulonephritis. In scarlet fever there is fever, abdominal pain, sore throat but there is a classical sandpapery feel rash which helps in its diagnosis. Rheumatic fever is characterized by appearance of a rash, skin nodules, joint pains, fever, heart problem, and involuntary movements .
Avatar m tn I thought I would throw my situation out there to get some comments from those on this forum. I had a whiplash concussion/lower back trauma in an accident 11 years ago. I had 7 months of headaches/brain fog/fatigue before things returned to normal. My issue is this.....I have had 5 instances since then where I have come down with a fever, like the flu was coming on. Each time I revert back to the same symptoms described above.
Avatar m tn Week ago i had fell on ice, causin a concussion neck and back injury,,I now have congestion in my ears with fluid along with other bad symptoms, is all this normal , espcailly the fluid in ears buildup, headache vison ringin in ears,, thank u
Avatar n tn Hi Now that you mention a cough and fever, yes, it is possible that your symptoms are due to fever and cough. This can be of both viral and bacterial origin. Since you also are urinating more than usual, it could be a UTI too associated with your chest symptoms. This can cause headache and chills. However please get your PCP to take a look as soon as possible. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn My 12 year old daughter has had a headache for two days now and vomiting when she gets up. plus she has done nothing but sleep. She does not have a fever no other compalints. What could this be?
5778772 tn?1374097447 Hello. My name is Sam and I am 19 years old. About a week and a half ago i gave my Girlfriend Oral sex. I did this for about 30 minutes. Then shortly after i found out that she cheated on me with another guy. This made me very upset and then i became very concerned that i might have gotten something. I knew the guy she cheated on me with, and he's been with a LOT of girls. I'm really concerned though and scared.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar n tn Most people recover completely, particularly if postconcussion syndrome symptoms do not develop. Postconcussion syndrome symptoms are common during the week after brain injury. They often resolve during the second week. However, sometimes symptoms persist for months or, rarely, years. Your friend should consult a neurologist and undergo a MRI to see the effects of head injury. There could be inflammation of the brain tissue causing headache and nausea.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I suffered mild blow to the head. I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.
Avatar f tn I would rather have my MRI read in Cleveland. I wonder how long a person can have concussion symptoms. If the symptoms should have disappeared by now, I have to wonder if it is the Chiari that is worse bc of the hard hit on the head.
Avatar f tn t due to the concussion but something found because of the concussion causing you to get diagnostic testing done. But I would get a 2d opinion unless the near-surgeon and the testing saw something urgent. A lot can be wrong without symptoms.
Avatar n tn symptoms of a concussion can last days, weeks or longer....you never know. and these symptoms you are experiencing now could go away and you could end up with diff symptoms some time after. Im not a doctor but am speaking through experience. what meds did they prescribe you?
Avatar f tn Anyone please!!
Avatar f tn Also I am incredibly unbalanced and all of these symptoms worsened after my last concussion which happened to be my fifth. From this one I had a report of severe concussion with mild amnesia, which four months later has not gone away. I also exhibit no abnormalities in my eyes. Sorry I forgot to include this before.
Avatar m tn Usually people recover from a concussion without any residual effects. Some people may manifest the symptoms longer and the condition is termed as post concussion syndrome. Repeated concussions are known to double the risk. After a concussion, the levels of brain chemicals are altered. It usually takes about a week for these levels to stabilize again. However, the time it takes to recover from a concussion is variable, so avoid all strenuous activity till complete recovery.
Avatar f tn Ok so about 7-8 months ago I suffered a concussion and was off work for quite a time I am getting back to it now. My question is can suffering a concussion cause depression and suicidal thoughts as well as self harm? Basically when I was a teenager I was suicidal and a cutter and haven't done anything like that since, until I got the concussion and a few months into the treatment etc I started cutting again and feeling suicidal.
Avatar m tn I hit my head on the ice about 12 hours ago. ER said concussion. I have not had any of the symptoms the ER said I should return for but where the lump was there is now a soft spot. Should I return?

At what point should a ct scan be done?
Avatar n tn Hello, Thank you for your question. After concussion or impact such kind of symptoms like loss of smell or taste and other symptoms may be common due to extent of damaged part of brain and may remain symptomatic or progress in future. Although any sure success cure can not be assured in such cases, but symptomatic relief or it may decrease with period of time, physiotherapy, avoiding any triggering factors and life style modification help you in certain extent.
