Avatar f tn I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
Avatar f tn I can tell you from personal experience that a concussion can leave you with a variety of neurological issues for over a year. I had a severe concussion appr. 5 years ago. I hit the base of my skull against a metal storage rack. I did not fall unconscious but had to immediately rest as I was feeling off. I actually tried to not fall asleep as I was worried about internal bleeding.
Avatar n tn Progressively it got worse and worse until today, one week later, it was a really bad pain and it lasted a while (a good hour) until I had enough and took paracetamol. Please help, I'm not sure, what could be going on?
Avatar f tn Since this is a concussion injury which is a brain injury causes by a sudden blow to the head or to the body. Symptoms of a concussion include memory loss, headaches or blurry vision, nausea, inability to stand or walk or having coordination and balance problems. There is an entity of post concussive syndrome where there is inability to think and headaches, changes in sleep patterns and personality etc. This needs to be evaluated clinically, CT/MRI scan brain needs to be done to rule out.

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a mild concussion a little under a week ago. i am scheduled to have a full optometry exam (dilation of the pupils) done tomorrow. Is it ok to still have that exam done?
Avatar f tn A little over two months ago I had a concussion without the loss of consciousness. Nothing showed up on a ct scan. Ever since my vision has worsened, I have had horrible headaches, and today experienced the worst headache. I was vomitting and could not see straight. I also had tingling in my arms, hands, and feet. I also feel a numbness in my face and a strong pain in my neck.
Avatar m tn It is possible to have post-concussion syndrome for months and even years after the incident. This condition is a complex disorder in which a combination of post-concussion symptoms like headaches, tinnitus and dizziness are experienced. There are no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome but treatment for the individual symptoms you experience is made by your doctor. Regular follow-up with your doctor is highly recommended. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Who. A cuncussion is a result of a blow to a head. Forgive me if I don't see the connection between "tire blow-out" and "head injury". If there was a concussion there is a "window of opportunity" to prevent swelling that has probably passed. If these symptoms are present without a blow to the head he needs an evaluation for a stroke. He should be evaluated at an emergency room ASAP.
Avatar f tn A diagnosis may be made when symptoms last for more than three months after the injury, or it may be made starting within a week or ten days of trauma. In late, persistent, or prolonged PCS, symptoms last for over six months, or by other standards, three. The nature of the symptoms tends to change over time. They are most commonly of a physical nature (headache) following the injury, but tend to become predominantly psychological (difficulty concentrating, irritability) later.
Avatar n tn I was hit from behind when playing ball hockey and I suffered a concussion after I went head first into the goalie. I had a cat scan done and it was normal immediately after the hit. Its been 11 months and everytime I try a light exercise for example walking around the block for about 20 minutes I get headaches. I used to swim, jog and play sports regularly and now since the accident I have gained a lot weight and don't know what to do to stay active.
Avatar f tn t due to the concussion but something found because of the concussion causing you to get diagnostic testing done. But I would get a 2d opinion unless the near-surgeon and the testing saw something urgent. A lot can be wrong without symptoms.
Avatar f tn ) My younger son (now 10) had what they thought was a mild concussion after a fall from a fence. Initially they said no sports for 3 days but a week later he would come home from baseball crying about a headache and vomiting. I took him back and they said the initial diagnosis (in the ER) of a mild concussion was wrong and that it was more severe. He had to stop sports for two weeks. My symptoms after the accident lasted over two weeks. I had severe headaches and I felt "off.
Avatar n tn I would definitely see a doctor, just to be sure, but it sounds like you have post-concussion syndrome: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/post-concussion-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20353352 Make sure to tell the doctor about all of the workouts you're doing, to make sure you're not perpetuating the problem by doing a specific exercise. Hope you start to improve!
Avatar n tn It sounds like you might. Get thee to a doc and make sure you don't end up w any worse effects,.
Avatar f tn It is not possible to predict what happens after concussion. Most likely it is a concussion but you may never know. If MRI picks up anything it may be fixed at early stage (like CSF leaks, minute bleeding etc.,). I personally know some one who CSF leak after they had a mild concussion and suffered. Finally she went to John Hopkins where they fixed and she is doing excellent now. As rumpled suggests go to doctor as soon as you can. good luck.
Avatar m tn Was intoxicated. Had a huge lump. Went to Urgent Care 3 days later, no need for a CT scan just a mild concussion. Did not have any symptoms beside bruised head. Next day, I was very, very dazed. Felt like I was in a dream Day after that had some mild headaches. Went to my regular GP 3 days later. Again, no need for CT scan just had a mild concussion. I have severe anxiety.
Avatar f tn For about a week after being out of the hospital, I had a severe nonstop headache. It finally went away so I thought nothing of it. About a week and a half ago, I hit my head on the floor while trying to go back into a bridge ( I am a cheerleader and a dancer) and I had fallen backwards on my head, immediately after I had a massive headache and I've had one ever since. I've tried drinking a lot of water, and extra strength Ibuprofen.
Avatar f tn From this one I had a report of severe concussion with mild amnesia, which four months later has not gone away. I also exhibit no abnormalities in my eyes. Sorry I forgot to include this before.
Avatar m tn until a couple of hours later that afternoon. Once that started it took almost a week an a half for the pressure to finally subside and I could go back to normal activity. I vouched I would never do that again....trying to sleep lying my head down on my pillow at night and that pressure building and building. I thought my head was going to explode, it was awful. However in July 2012, I was jumping into a swimming pool to catch a football and just happened to land sideways in the water.
16465326 tn?1448202692 It was two and a half weeks ago that I slipped on the ice and fell directly on the top of my head. I never lost consciousness. I just saw stars and had that panicked feeling. Went back into my house and since I wasn't feeling myself, I went to the Emergency ward. The attending Physician said I checked out neurologically and did not order a CT scan of my brain. A concussion was her diagnosis. Since the fall I have had the following symptoms: 1.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. After head injury or impact such kind of symptoms like loss of smell or taste and other symptoms may be common due to extent of damaged part of brain and may remain symptomatic or progress in future. Although any sure success cure can not be assured in such cases, but symptomatic relief or it may decrease with period of time, physiotherapy, avoiding any triggering factors and life style modification help you in certain extent.
