Avatar m tn For example, a random sample of long-term benzodiazepine users typically finds around 50% experience few or no withdrawal symptoms, with the other 50% experiencing notable withdrawal symptoms. Certain select patient groups show a higher rate of notable withdrawal symptoms, up to 100%.[59] Rebound anxiety, more severe than baseline anxiety, is also a common withdrawal symptom when discontinuing diazepam or other benzodiazepines.
Avatar m tn My doctor left it to my discretion to continue taking the smallest dose of concerta (18mg) if the withdrawal symptoms were too difficult. The problem is that the medication does not make me feel any better, I become irritable and, more importantly, I get chest pains. I had to go to emergency because of that. That is why I don't want to begin taking the drug again. My doctor thinks we may try something else to counteract the fatigue side effects of Paxil, once I concerta is out of my system.
Avatar f tn Although I don't take it (I take Adderall ) I have heard from an acquaintance there is strong possibility of withdrawal. "Concerta Crash" is the phrase. Ideally if you want to stop taking it, you should taper.
1768088 tn?1409087815 m wondering if all that is going on is A)side effects from adderall B)possible withdrawal symptoms or detoxing from concerta since she's Moody and head & stomach hurt and is pale and clammy and just doesn't feel good (in the past I was dependant on opioids so I know all to well how withdrawal can feel) or C)emotional and mood issues worsening from ADHD not being under proper control. I know to expect some side effects with medication changes. We've been there. Done that.

Avatar m tn 100 mg of topamax daily, which I'm very consistent about because I've already dealt with withdrawal of that and I don't want to deal with it again. I've never taken topamax and concerta concurrently, the topamax I started about five months ago and tolerate very well. My doctor didn't think there would be a problem with the two medications together.
Avatar m tn Hey Chris, I just wanted to add that while some of the symptoms you described could be coming from the Concerta (it never hurts to google concerta and check out the symptoms), several are also ADHD symptoms - particularly the, ",mood swings, thoughts of suicide, couldnt fall asleep, depression, and anger." So I would make very sure that you are aware of what ADHD can do to you. It is your disease, and the best way to conquer it is with information about it.
Avatar n tn My ex was on first concerta and then vyvance for adhd. He was a lot more irritable, hateful and angry. He also was in therapy for those issues. So maybe the paxil was cancelling out these side effects from the adhd meds.
Avatar f tn These are all new symptoms that he never had before the Concerta. His speech became such an issue at one point, that he began seeing a speech therapist who was baffled as to why my son just developed issues ( a lisp, esp. with 'sh' words) at the age of 13... His pediatrician (who prescribes his meds) seems to think that it isn't the Concerta, yet I disagree and am starting to think that my son is having an allergic reaction to the drug... Any thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children. My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
Avatar n tn Hi even if the vet doc is right that its anxiety, it would still be better to see a doctor and get checked out and even after being on the concerta a year before your symptoms started that could still be the problem but imo you should see a doc and get his opinion.Dont take chances with your heart or health.
Avatar n tn Wellbutrin withdrawal is heavy duty stuff! So is withdrawal from Zyprexa. Sounds a lot like OD symptoms though. Hospitalization may not be the best answer though since they tend to overmedicate people in psyche wards. More is not always better. You are truly between a rock and a hard place. Pulling back on the meds might be a good idea - cutting the dosage of Depakote down. Has he had any blood work done lately to check his levels?????
Avatar f tn I started taking 18 mg of Concerta once daily about 2 weeks ago. Oddly I have noticed two things: 1) I can no longer have my daily/morning coffee without severe nausea (even the pharmacist didn't have it as one of his warnings). 2) Despite the fact that it keeps me awake to the point that daytime napping is not possible I still feel exhausted most of the time which doesn't make much sense to me. Has anyone had anything like either of these things happen while they were taking it?
Avatar f tn We now switched him to concerta (lasts longer than focalin)...and added Prozac. Teacher really likes the results at school. However...evenings are hectic. He becomes very silly and immature. Often displaying autistic like behaviors--flapping hands, grunting, weird noises etc. Demeanor is relatively happy and giggly....Before just on ADHD meds...the withdrawal he was very angry and aggressive. He takes clonodine to sleep. But is very amped up at night. Could this be a side effect?
Avatar f tn So, it is reported that it begins working fast in the morning and continues to control symptoms during the day and then tapers off at hours 10 to 12. Concerta may have a slightly better effect in those last two hours but less of an effect early on in the day after taking it. Both have a pretty similar side effect profile and you are familiar with these from your child's current medication.
Avatar f tn Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
Avatar f tn My son has tried Ritalin, Dexodrine and Concerta. All have made him tic, but the concerta tics seem to last longer. He has been off for two weeks and although the neck jutting out has stopped, the clearing of the throat has not. I have removed him off all medication and am convinced the pros of the medicine DOES NOT out weigh the cons. Be careful parents! Make sure you do your research before placing your children on medication.
Avatar m tn Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
Avatar f tn I have been having urinary problems the past 3 months. I took 5 different antibiotics for UTI's, i've had a transvaginal ultrasound, pelvic exam, and everything said I was fine. I have been feeling better, but every now and then, I have this tingling feeling in my groin area, and it is very uncomfortable and will last for days, then go away.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but after seeing your post I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn I have suffered from ADD symptoms as a result of my drug and alcohol use a decade ago. I have been on many ADD and anti depressant meds but all to no avail except with Wellbutrin XR and somewhat with Concerta. The Wellbutrin worked amazingly well a long time ago but stopped shortly after I took a small sip of hard liquor. My doctors are perplexed by this but that is the only explanation I can come up with.
Avatar f tn The adderall, at 25 mg, has not affected him at all with adverse symptoms. He sleeps well, eats well, etc. Perhaps, Concerta at this high of a dose, has made the drug "not right" for him anymore since he has developed new tactile, crying, etc symptoms. I would make an appointment with the doctor and discuss these new symptoms. He could be developing depression because of these new symptoms.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Concerta 18mg by a psychiatrist. I am currently studying for the bar exam and have been taking one pill everyday (since May 17th). The bar exam is on July 24th-26th, 2017. I have never taken Concerta everyday for this long before, and I know that daily use is not encouraged. However, I feel that taking it daily would allow me to prepare for the exam to the best of my ability.
