At age 5 he was diagnosed with pretty sever ADHD. We started on Strattera and after two weeks he violently attacked me...We then went to Concerta then to Focalin then back to Concerta....not ever obtaining great control of ADHD.
He additionally was put on Prozac about a year ago for anxiety as he was chewing the skin off his fingers until they would bleed and chew huge blisters on his lips.
Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...
15 yr old daughter was diag with adhd 2nd grade - although was family "joke" adhd long before. 1st on adderall with explosive behavior - had to try before could take straterra, insurance. Strattera was fine for sev yrs - although only limited imp - just enough to tolerate her. Problems with social interaction and her mouth - she's constantly argumentative and I believe ODD. After menstruation began, strattera appeared worthless.
I was was put on Focalin XR when the dr said i have adult adhd. It worked well for awhile i did not forget my keys either. It one of the other meds like ritalin but new i believe. I did not think it worked well for me anymore and now i am on adderall xr. I feel like i am on a emotional roller coaster everyday!!! i dont like it plus i have major headaches. One of my friends were on vyvanse and she said her heart felt like it would pop out of her chest.
I am very interested in homeopathy for children’s learning difficulties.
One of our twin girls, 10years has had expressive language difficulties, has since
she started to talk, we did speech therapy for 6years. plus we do extra tutoring, our daughter continues to make progress ,our daughter wants to learn, doesn’t give up, . Our daughter with learning difficulties is very visual, learns visually.
Strattera is a non stimulant med used for ADHD. Whether or not it would be effective for you, I don't know.

Do you have an opinion which type of drug would be better for the ADHD, stimulants or antistimulants? Isnt concerta a stimulant and strattera an anti stimulant?
My brother is ADHD (he is 58) He was punished most of his childhood life by my dad for his behavior, now as an adult he really has social issues. It is interesting though, he has always been able to sit and read for hours on end. ( without being medicated because noone knew about adhd in the 60's ) What do you think about that?

I am an over 35 Adult female with ADHD. I have been taking Strattera for several years. It wasn't until my aggressive behavior and anger was announced to me by my husband as being a problem that I sought help with counceling and with my primary care Doctor. The first thing my Doctor said to me was that Strattera was known to cause heightened aggression and mood swings. He also said that due to the fact that I am super-sensitive to any medication it could make it much worse. Is this possible?
Is he taking 36mg plus 36 mg or 18mg plus 18mg?

I have a 12 year old grandson diagnosed with ADHD/ODD/Bipolar. He was first prescribed concerta. He did very well for about two weeks and then started to act very violent aggressive and angry. The doctor doubled the dose and the anger and aggression etc. became worse. That was when the doctor diagnosed Bipolar and took him off stimulant and put him on Resperidone / mood stabilizer. He has been on resperidone for 11/2 week showing only ADHD and ODD symptoms.
He has also been put on intuniv which caused a few really bad side effects and Strattera which didn't do anything at all for him. I have researched ADHD signs and symptoms and I do not believe he has this condition. I've voiced my concern to the pediatrician but he doesn't seem like he wants to listen to me. I have located another ADHD doctor and intend to get a second opinion soon.
Zolpidem (Ambien), Methylphenidate (Concerta), Clonidine, and Strattera. First, I do not believe my son should have ever been diagnosed w/ ADHD, I have done the research and written a paper as well as currently going through a publication on an article with my wife (not my son's mother) who is an assistant professor of counseling mental health.

I'm 21 years old and was diagnosed with adult ADHD last year. Stimulants don't seem to work for me, they make me extremely irritable and give me chest pains. Tried strattera but it made me extremely emotional, to the point of sobbing for no reason. My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms.
Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD?

WELL 2 WKS AGO THEY SWITCHED HER TO 50MG VYVANCE 150MG OF ZOLOFT AND 10MG RISPERDALE. #1 I FOUND OUT YOU CANT MIX ZOLOFT AND VYVANCE, AND VYVANCE ALONE MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU R ON COCAINE. KEEP IN MIND SHE IS 7 AND WEIGHS 50LBS. SHE USE TO BE CHUNKY NOT NO MORE. FINALLY I SEEN THE LIGHT AFTER WE STARTED GOING THREW GOD AWFUL MOOD SWINGS AND AGRESSIVNESS AND RAGES.
While it covers a lot of ground, there is not a lot aimed at adult ADHD - although, the symptoms are the same at all levels. She also lists a lot of resources that might prove helpful.
Frankly, you are on such a high dose of Ritalin - I would think that you need to be very careful how you come off of it. And should do so only under a doctors help.
Finally, I don't know what kind of a job that you have, but many times there are ways to compensate for lack of focus.

adderall and concerta can cause side effects, and if you go to stop them you need to ask your doctor how you should stop taken them,because if you stop taken them the wrong way you can cause more health problems to your self.
a lot of people on the street take these drugs because they are like speed to them and give them as rush.
Hi, my husband has adult ADHD and his doctor put him in strattera. It is working for his ADHD but it has loads of side effects (and he cannot take any of the stimulant type meds). We are not sure what to do about the semen leakage. He, understandably, is embarrassed about this and has started to wear diapers to work to protect his clothes. Is this the best option? Anyone has suggestions.
