Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.

ve tried so many different ADD medications and doses before ending up where I am, I agree that Vyvanse does take a while to kick in. Not everyone is the same, so if Adderall works better for you it's not very shocking.

Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison. I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. 50mg was wayy too much at the time. 30mg was perfect until about a month ago. It lasted about 12 hours, a huge improvement over 4 hours of Adderall IR.

Strattera, Adderall XR, Vyvanse, and Daytrana are medications I have taken, my brother takes Concerta. Vyvanse and Adderall XR are the only meds I can take. I have a real sensitive stomach and immune system, and am allergic to a lot so I would think that you can handle most of these.

Basically Vyvanse is a smoother, longer acting form of Adderall. Concerta is a longer acting form of Methylphenidate. Usually, but not always, the Adderall type of medications are considered to be stronger. Intuniv is a longer lasting and newer form of Guanfacine. Why is my 'shrink' trying to treat my Adult ADD with Bubropion HCL SR (100mg tab 2X a day)? Is this the right med for me? Good grief...it didn't even cut out my smoking. I know what you mean when you refer to Adderall as "that nasty, gross stimulant." I have been taking a total of 30 mg Adderall for about 6 mths now. It works great during the day, and has changed my life tremendously. I am able to complete the 200 projects that I start on everyday. But insomnia has made me it's ***** at night! If I could guess what a crack head feels like when coming down, the Adderall "comedown" would compare to it.

Note, Concerta should last about 8 hours while the Vyvannse could go 10 to 12 hours. Also Concerta is a Methylphenidate, while Vyvannse is an Adderall based med and is stronger. You might want to try the Vyvannse again, but increase the dose slower. Typically tiredness is not a side effect of stim meds, unless you are over dosed and then you can feel kind of stoned. My doc prescribed me 70mg Vyvanse, to compare with my Adderall dose previously prescribed. When feeling the effects of Vyvanse it is truly a saving grace and I really feel "limitless". I think clear, I don't feel over stimulated or the out of body experience like other ADHD drugs. I'm in an industry that I must utilize critical problem solving skills, think extremely creative and relay high end technical knowledge to CIO's and executives on a daily basis.

We probably won't go back to Vyvanse - he became a bit more aggressive and over-emotional when he was on it in the end. That is when they switched him to Concerta. The doctor said she was going to move him to Plain Methylphenidate (20mg / Twice a Day) but it will be for (3) times a day at 15mg. She is hoping since it's similar to Concerta it will work for him. They also mentioned taking the script to Wal-Mart and I wouldn't have to pay alot for it. Do you know if that's true?

Hey I am worried about my sister! She is on Vyvanse right now at thiry mgs but does NOT take it daily. Her husband takes twenty mgs of Adderall daily, and sometimes she will take an adderall instead of a vyvanse. Is this safe?? I don't think she is taking them at the same time but, is it safe for her to take an adderall on occasion? She claims the adderall gives her more energy than the vyvanse so she takes it when she has a night that she is working late and so on.

Well, see when I switched from Concerta to Adderall, I just stopped the Concerta and went to taking the Adderall XR. After a few months the XR did not seem to work very long or throughout the day. So, in 2007, I went on Adderall short acting pill form which generic form is amphetamine salts or amphetamine mix tabs. With this pill, first of all, it is extremely inexpensive. I pay $30 for 180 tabs 20 mg each. I cut each in half and take each half 4 times a day a total of 40mg.

I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse. I would imagine that these annoying side effects will eventually subside with continued therapy w/Vyvanse. Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first.

I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall. Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
