Avatar f tn Local anesthesia may be used by your health care provider during delivery to numb a painful area in or around the vagina if stitches are needed. Local medications do not reduce discomfort during labor. Regional anesthesia (also called an epidural or spinal anesthesia) is administered by an anesthesiologist (a doctor who delivers pain medicine) during labor to reduce discomfort.

Avatar f tn Is anybody else's scared of poop during labor? What can I do to prevent it?
Avatar f tn I had it with my last pregnancy, they just give you anti biotic through your IV during labor.
1166767 tn?1315427171 lol Yeah I guess during labor that's the last thing on your mind. I just thought I'd ask since the other day even my husband said "Is it true you poop when you have a baby?
Avatar f tn She also said it can be pretty common during pregnancy because of the organs being squished and what not. I was given dialided which made the pain go quick and I felt niceeee. I was discharged next night and went back later wakingup to pain again. Was admitted again and sent home next day with a prescription of percocets. Haven't had to take any thus far cause I think I finally passed it. Thank God. That was seriously the worst pain I've ever been in.
Avatar f tn Has everyone thought of pain meds during labor? Have u done research on how it can affect u & more importantly ur new baby? Obviously I am pro natural birth mainly bc mom's have been giving birth for thousands of years without any help. A woman gets to a hospital & thinks a doctor knows more abt her body than she does. New reports from the medical community is that an epidural can cause autism & a huge host of other problems.
Avatar n tn Nothing to worry about. I tested positive 15 years ago and was given antibiotic during labor. Now with these last 2 pregnancies, one 5 years ago and now I've tested negative so it can be hit or miss!
284738 tn?1283106819 Most often, you would have an allergic reaction to an antibiotic--where you given one IV? This is often done if labor is long and drawn out, and the mothers water has been broken for a long time. Perhaps you were allergic to something else they gave you. Stadol does not work well if you take it too often, and usually does not work well at all after you have been given 1 or 2 doses. Demerol is not usually given any longer, due to side effects such as you experienced.
Avatar f tn Once you have bv once & its treated.. during labor you will be given antibiotics through iv that will protect baby. Its a precaution. Baby will b fine.
Avatar f tn I have more than several warts on my left hand (1 is rather large) and they have little black dots as well. I have had a few for quite some time (1-1.5 years). As time has passed I seem to have accumulated more (currently 13) and several of them are small and hardly noticeable, but majority of them do have a large bump to it.
Avatar f tn Tested positive and im kinda nervous for labor now..is it common to have this bacteria? Someone help im freaking out!!!
Avatar m tn I recently developed anxiety and was prescribed Prozac (generic) and Klonopin (generic). The Klonopin has been given until the Prozac starts to work. I have taken this twice in 2 weeks and like eveyone on here do not like being on medication. Does anyone have experience with anxiety in the short term. Is this something that with treatment will subside over a few months and allow me to stop the medication? Also how long have people felt that Prozac takes to really be effective.
Avatar f tn Im tired of people calling asking if im in labor yet.. im 9 days past due and no signs of approaching labor yet... hang in there and as soon as you say fine i give up it will happen. Just let your body do what its sopposed to.
7913021 tn?1418048620 How common is it to go in labor earlier than your due date?? Like 1-2 weeks early? Is it more common to go into labor at 38 weeks or 40+?
8075190 tn?1401035475 (Antibiotics through an IV) when you go into labor and every four hours during labor. You can always tell them no. 1 in 200 babies delivered with moms that are carriers of gbs will actually get infected.
3104777 tn?1363885649 I lost mine the last of mine during my early labor contractions .. Started active labor just a few hours later ..
Avatar n tn What I am asking is were you given testing prior to being given the diagnosis of RLS or was the diagnosis based on your history, assessment and symptoms?
Avatar f tn Thank you ladies! :) And what exactly is pre hypertension? Is it bad? What causes it?
1209036 tn?1299178657 I had my two boys without meds. I highly recommend lamaze classes, as the breathing exercises really helped me get through labor. I tried to prepare for my first labor, agonizing over what to take to the hospital. I had my bag packed for weeks. When the big day came, I had a four hour labor, and the bag never made it into the hospital! My second son's labor took much longer, but was overall much easier.
7627013 tn?1392751553 Who has given or heard about someone giving birth in a squatting position or on a chair? I was reading that helps a lot and you have more control over your body during those hard hours.??
Avatar f tn Are there any other options besides an epidural that'll lessen the pain during giving birth.?
2189208 tn?1339572701 I just spent some time reading up on blue cohosh. It is often given as a natural remedy to assist with labor pains. It is also used as a natural way to terminate a pregnancy. I would strongly recommend you not mess with it unless under the guidance of your Dr. Overdosing on it can cause some serious problems. There are also a list of conditions where it shouldn't be used. If you really want to do this, please clear it with your Dr. first.
