572651 tn?1530999357 "Long term acid suppression for treatment of GERD"...glad to see that listed as an unnecessary treatment. Most acid reflux conditions, including GERD, are hardly ever associated with too much stomach acid. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn Why was it too painful for me to continue with colonoscopy despite being sedated I now have to have a barium ennema instead Im qyite dissappointed I have to go through the rig marole all over again
Avatar f tn WEll I finally went to a colon and rectal dr and he did some lighted scope just looking at rectal area, and he said he saw nothing bad at all, but wants me to have a colonoscopy to figure out why I have red in bowel movements. Sometimes its streaked red and other times its maroonish looking and other times theres like maroonish clots in it. Sometimes well only like once there was a small purplish maroonish) clot on toilet paper, so I am really scared about colon cancer at my age.
621217 tn?1289009087 there is the camera pill that is an alternative to the colonoscopy. You still have to go thru the same prep as a colonoscopy. and lets face it, the prep is by far the worst part of the whole ordeal.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm a17 year old female and since the beginning of August I've been having abdominal pain around my belly button area. I've had and Upper GI and lower bowel exam, colonoscopy, and endoscopy but no one can seem to figure it out. The pain is on going and gets worse while I'm eating. I feel nauseas constantly and after/while I eat I find myself running to the bathroom with the dry heaves. I have little to no appetite and have lost an unnecessary 6 pounds. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Have you had an endoscopy, colonoscopy? Do you take any long term treatments? Do the symptoms have any specific root, or does anything make them worse or better? Vaginal discharge is something that all women experience, some in larger quantities than others. Various treatments (especially if they were used frequently and weren't necessary) can cause damage to the stomach leading to GI symptoms you've described.
Avatar n tn Hey there, I am 33, had blood and mucus for about 2 years and I finally went 3 weeks ago and had colonoscopy and they removed a adanoma polyp which is a precancerous polyp which could eventually turn into colon cancer so do yourself a favor and just demand a colonoscopy and get it done and over with and get a piece of mind. It is really very easy. please keep us updated.
Avatar f tn Colonoscopy 7/16 revealed a "wide, flat polyp". Today I was told pathology is "high-grade dysplasia". It's in the ascending colon, right side. Dr offered 2nd colonoscopy in 3 months to see how well it's healed, what may have been left behind, or he suggested I can consult a surgeon now and the 3 of us decide what's best. I"M REALLY SCARED!! BUT I WANT THIS OUT OF ME!! - NOW!!
Avatar n tn i have alot of gas i have had one test which is a colonoscopy no diverticulitis or anything . I am very uncomfertable and it feels like when i am laying on my right side at night and take a deep breath that something is moving on my left side help....i have no insurance and can not afford alot of unnecessary testing. could it be gallbladder or my pancreas?
Avatar f tn I wanted to give an update on what happened to me in case any of else finds themselves worrying about unecessary biopsies from MRI readings. I went in for my MRI guided biopsy surgery. the radiologist put me into the MRI for 30 minutes and could no longer locate any unusual areas. I had waited 30 days from the first MRI to the biopsy due to a vacation I had already scheduled.
1564517 tn?1314346323 I have not be diagnosed with OCD. But lately I have began to accumulate habits that are unnecessary. They drive me up the wall but I have to do them... if i don't "it doesn't feel right" and bothers me until I just do it. The biggest and most annoying one of them is that i look be hind me constantly when moving from one place to another to make sure I have not left anything behind. Even when I know I have everything.
Avatar m tn I have a doctors appointment next week which I originally scheduled to request a colonoscopy and I will mention my concerns about my nosebleeds but my doctor knows I have anxiety and fear that he won't take me seriously. Wow, just reading everything I wrote... I feel like hypochondria's textbook example.
Avatar f tn How can I explain the purpose of a colonoscopy to my 7 year old. He is scheduled for one next month. This is his 3rd colonoscopy, but for the others he was too young to understand what was happening (10 months and 3 years) Now at the age of 7 he is asking alot more questions and has told me he is scared. He has childhood polyposis and is being watched for Gardners Syndrome and FAP (colon cancer). I do not use the word cancer around him.
Avatar m tn Have had many test, last ones were colonoscopy and EUS two years ago. Saw my gastroenterologist last week. My concern is that for about three years, I was always constipated but now every now and then I have explosive diarrhea or go many times with loose stools. My doctor says that IBS can switch from one to the other but I wouldn't call my situation switching back and forth since I have been constipated for almost 3 years but now getting diarrhea in between more often.
Avatar n tn Okay, so I've had diarrhea pretty much every day for the past 4 years. Terrible, I know, but I thought it was due to anxiety with my work/life situation. It started pretty soon after I finished college and took an extremely stressful job. My diet and eating habits hadn't changed; I've always been a healthy eater. I'm a bit underweight and always have been. Now, normally I've just been dealing with a loose bowel movement every day.
Avatar f tn Rectal bleeding is not normal and should always be medically investigated. For possible causes google rectal bleeding and click on to one of the many sites - the Medicinenet site is particularly informative. As you mention, at your age there is a microscopic chance that you have colon cancer -but if you are the unfortunate one in a million (or whatever) then the chance of a cure at a young age with early diagnosis is excellent so don't let inaction catalyse unnecessary anxiety.
Avatar f tn Stress can make you feel much worse and make a lot of things seems out of control. Get second opinions prior to letting ANY doctor remove your uterus especially at your age. I heard a doctor the other day on NPR say there are so many unnecessary breasts removed and I've always heard there are unnecessary hysterectomies. Your blood count can go up for many reasons and your blood pressure can go up from stress or from pain. So decide what needs to be taken care of and get it done.
Avatar m tn The whole purpose of developing the test was for those who were too scared to get a colonoscopy, but this test pretty much guarantees that a lot of unnecessary colonoscopies will be done because if you test positive that's the next step. While false negatives are definitely bad, false positives are also bad, because they result in unnecessary treatments.
Avatar n tn I had a routine colonoscopy (no polyps, one small diverticula), age 55. Three days later I developed symptoms of a bladder infection. Thought I'd try to treat it with cranberry juice and OTC Uristat (analgesic). Three days later it was clear I needed antibiotics. Before the meds kicked in I experienced excruciating intermittent pain in my right kidney. By morning the pain was gone, but after breakfast I vomited.
Avatar n tn Ive been very concerned about this. I have a scheduled colonoscopy coming up soon but my doctor said this is unnecessary but the pain is too much and need to know why. If you have any info on this, ill really appreciat it.
Avatar m tn I as a Breast Cancer Survivor also agree with Zouzi .... if you think the testing and the biopsies are a "pain" and inconvenient you should try being told that you have Breast Cancer ... must lose a breast and possibly go through several different types of treatment and then be followed closely for who know how long because there is always a chance that the Cancer may return !!
