Avatar f tn Am 67 year old woman. Have had symptoms for many years, starting with the first time bleeding, fever, diagnosis "non-specific colitis." After this diagnosis became irritable bowel syndrome. Then several episodes of diverticulitis. Now I'm on Asacol with no IBD diagnosis, and have over the past six months developed pain right side of belly button, especially when taking a deep breath, but also aggravated by sleeping on the other side.
Avatar m tn With a clear CT colonoscopy and a positive sigmoidoscopy, the decision for a conventional colonoscopy/ conventional CT or directly initiating a management plan is best taken by the treating gastroenterologist based on the CT colonoscopy report. Though if the CT colonoscopy report is absolutely clear, chances that abnormalities are unlikely to be present. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating gastroenterologist.
Avatar f tn Abdominal cramps and watery discharge may indicate a Post surgical complication of Colonoscopy. They actually are very common in many compromised patients even though adequate care has been taken. They include mild abdominal pain with cramps, watery diarrhea,Post surgical inflammation. These are very minor complications.Very severe major complications can be Bowel explosion, obstruction, allergy, dehydration or even stroke sometimes.
Avatar f tn I'm 75 yrs. old. Had a colonoscopy in 2006. 'Impression was diverticula of colon' ' .However, in part, the report said,"due to malfunction of the scope, photos of the cecum were not obtained." I am now worried that because of the scope malfunction, could nothing be seen on the monitor and the test should have been done again?
Avatar f tn Call the doc and get a copy of the biopsy report and the doc's report. Read it and find out what the inflammatory process was due to. If the doc says it's due to the prep, find another doc. The prep does not cause inflammation. After 10 days, if the blood was 'supposed' to be due to the polyp removal, that should have stopped. So you need to investigate a bit further - call the doc and talk.
Avatar m tn I had a colonoscopy last week, which came back clear, however on my report it shows that 40 biopsies were taken from the rectum to the terminal ileum. I was just wondering why so many biopsies were taken if everything was clear in the colonoscopy?
Avatar n tn Due to a change in bowel habits for more than a year, I had a colonoscopy (along with a gastroscopy) two weeks ago under sedation. The gastroscopy and the first part of the colonscopy were uncomfortable but tolerable. There was a point in the colonscopy in which I experienced severe pain. In spite of additional sedation, the pain was excruciating and if the consultant did not end the examination at that time, I would have been off the table.
Avatar n tn I had a colonoscopy. The anesthesia didn't work even though they gave me twice the normal amount. It felt like labor. When it was over they explained that the anesthesia didn't work because 3 of the meds I take counter act it. (I'd given them the complete list twice-I can only come to the conclusion that they didn't check my meds against the anesthesia or they would have given me the alternate anesthesia.) I was in discomfort for a week.
Avatar n tn I recently had a colonoscopy, which revealed tubulovillous adenoma, 1 CM, with focal high grade cell dysplasia. The doctor removed the polyp, with a diagnosis appearing to be free of dysplasia. Frankly, I am from the Boston area and now reside in Florida. I have a LOT more confidence in a Boston doctor's opinion. I am 54 years old, smoke and drink occasionally. The doctor suggests I have another colonoscopy in 6 months.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 33yr old female. I have been having bowel problems for the past few years. In the past year I have been seeing mucus, blood and blood clots (large ones) in my feces. About 4 months ago I had an extensive colonoscopy, which revealed I have IBS-C and a 'spastic colon'? Thankfully, there were no polyps or other masses. I changed my diet cutting out gluten which was a major irritate for me. However, it hasnt helped with my bowel movements.
439464 tn?1213827634 I have a history of irritable bowel off and on. I also have a history of a Bence Jones protein. My colonoscopy report came back as scattered reactive lymphoid follicles. Does anyone know what this means?
Avatar f tn m still waiting for the report on the polyps...and the report of the investigation from the hospital. My doctor is going to call this quack too!!! Good thing i have 3 years to get over this before my next one...and i will find a GI that will use general !!!!!!
Avatar n tn I recently had a routine colonoscopy and just got the path report....hoping for some insight. I have one 4 mm tubular adenoma. The path report was short.. it did not give anything but size and that it was tubular. I don't see the dr for 2 weeks and i'm hoping someone might be able to offer some more information for me. It is my understanding that this is small. The report said nothing about dysplasia - nothing. Thanks so much for any info you might be able to offer!
Avatar m tn Hi everyone, My name is Charles and I find it bizarre that I only started to get traces of blood in my stool only AFTER my colonoscopy, and I still get the traces even after several months! Here is my situation: I was suffering from major constipation and IBD for an entire year! And only after over ONE YEAR LATER, I underwent a colonoscopy test for further investigation.
727090 tn?1268839348 I was wondering if you could please tell me what happened after your bleeding occurred post colonoscopy and polyp removal. My husband just had his colonoscopy last week on thursday, and one polyp removed. He has little bright blood on friday, but sat, sun, mon he was totally fine and back to normal schedule and since tuesday he has had bowel movements with dark brownish blood and went to the doctor, who checked and said that he indeed was bleeding.
Avatar n tn I recently had a colonoscopy and my GI said the results came back normal. However, the pathology report states: Right colon: "mild nonspecific chronic inflammation and mild submucosal edema; no active inflammation or significant chronic architectural changes." Rectal colon: "mild nonspecific chronic inflammation; no active inflammation or significant chronic architectural changes." Inflammation and edema don't sound "normal" to me...
Avatar f tn 5 mm tubular adenoma negative for high-grade dysplasia or malignancy (it also mentions semi-sessile in the report). I cannot see the doctor for follow-up discussions for another month, so I am really anxious about what this might mean. The nurse did tell me that he wants to see me back in 5 years instead of 10, so it sounds like they aren't too concerned with the results. I was actually shocked by this finding, as I understand it is not cancerous, but is pre-cancerous.
Avatar f tn Hello and thanks for taking the time and consideration of my needs here. I've had a dull pain in my stomach, upper left just under rib cage, sensitive to touch also, for many years but has recently become more regular with burping and hiccups after eating or drinking. Sometimes there is minor bloating.
Avatar m tn re getting ulcers. Please get a copy of both the docs notes during the colonoscopy and the pathology report and read them. There may be an indication in those reports about what is going on. Ulcers aren't 'normal.
Avatar f tn Question #1 - After this CT, is a colonoscopy redundant, i.e. is the CT a more sensitive test than the colonoscopy or might a colonoscopy show problems that the CT would not? Question #2 - Given the location of the pain, would a colonoscopy even explore the area of his pain? Question #3 - Does this pain pattern suggest a diagnosis to anyone? Question #4 - Does anyone have any idea where to go from here?
527589 tn?1301678178 I had a colonoscopy friday morning. It says on the report they gave me that I had numerous polyps, one 18 mm in size, that thye removed. Also it says I didn't tolerate the procedure well (I remember moaning and groaning and begging them to stop)as my bowel was twisted. I slept most of friday and into saturday. I noticed this morning that I was very sore just above and to the right of my belly button. Also below and to the left.
Avatar m tn They took a couple of biopsies, said that what they saw looked all normal and then said they will book me in for colonoscopy. Told me to stop eating linseed. No piles or fissures. Totally gutted, feel like i just wasted the past week and am seriously thinking of not going for the colonoscopy, could not face it happening again. What on earth did i do wrong? Nurse was trying to reassure me i had not done nothing wrong but not nice to see the report going back to my g.
Avatar n tn Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. Thanks for your question and we are sorry for the difficult time you went through trying to get the colonoscopy liquid down. If they are calling for surgical resection, they aren't asking you do another coloscopy are they? They have seen a polyp and need to remove it and are going the surgical route to do so? Working with your doctor is important. Here is some general information about colon resection https://www.webmd.
