Avatar f tn I would do the prep 10 times over then get a colonoscopy again!! SO PAINFUL!! Damn Dr just shoving in the hose without a care in the world.. I was not under at all, they must have had a bad batch of stuff they gave me Im asking for propofol if I have to do it again thats the way to go!!
Avatar n tn why do I have to come back for a second colonoscopy?
Avatar n tn but honestly the prep is going to be the worst part of your colonoscopy, that is the rough part rushing to the batrhoom and depending on what prep stuff they give you..if they make you do tons of miralax that's much better than the soda phosphate stuff that makes me gag..but yeah the prep is the worst part..not the procedure itself. Hope that helps with the anxiety (there's really no reason to be..but I know how hard it is dealing with anxiety myself).. good luck with your procedure!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what bowel prep for colonoscopy is safe for use by a patient with liver disease? I was given prescriptions for miralax/ducolax and for Suprep. Thanks!
Avatar m tn What is prep for a colonoscopy when one has a colostomy? My instructions seem to be identical with those before I had emplacement of a colostomy (why clear a colon that hasn't been "used" in years?
Avatar n tn ask your doctor if virtual colonoscopy can be done instead of direct invasive colonoscopy as both have equally good diagnostic value.
Avatar n tn The pill is for the prep for the colonoscopy. I actually just learned that my in-laws also used it for their colonoscopies and they said the pills were much better than drinking the liquid prep. So, as long as I can down 20 pills in an hour, this prep hopefully will be a bit easier since the liquid prep makes me vomit.
Avatar n tn I had a colonoscopy in 2011, using Halflytely prep. I get heart pounding a lot, both daily and at night, when I have anxiety with it when I wake up. I managed to do pretty well with the Halflytely prep, although the heart pounding was a problem at times. Now, in October 2016, I'll need another colonoscopy, but the Halflytely prep I used before is no longer available.
Avatar m tn I (and most other people) will tell you that the worse part of a colonoscopy is the prep because it tastes bad and because you have to spend all day having diarrhea. I had a colonoscopy at 16 and I was totally fine. Do you know what type of sedation you are going to get? Are you most afraid of waking up in the middle of the procedure?
Avatar n tn d feel a lot better if I knew that my heart would be okay during the prep and colonoscopy procedure. Can anyone tell me what they experienced with the HalfLytely prep?
Avatar f tn Has anyone used just 2 bottles mag citrate and 2 5mg. tabs bisacodyl for colonoscopy prep? My directions say 1 bottle at 4pm, then 1 bottle at 8pm with the 2 tabs. This is while on a 1 day liquid diet for an am (before noon) procedure in the surgicenter. I'm allowed to sip water up until 2 hrs. prior to the procedure because it's not in the hospital. How long does it take to start the purge? How long to finish? How much nausea?
Avatar f tn Recntly I had a colonoscopy. My prescribed colon prep consisted of two bottles of Mag Citrate and nothing else. Because the prep did not seem to be producing adequate results I added three Ducolax tabs on my own. I did get results, but nothing like my last colonoscopy, when I took a Fleet laxative. And, incidentally, at the time of my last colonoscopy a polyp was removed from the anal area.
Avatar n tn I just had a bad experience with a colonoscopy. I remember the pain quite well in spite of a huge dose of Versed (8 mg) along with 50 mg. of Benedryl, and 100 mcg. of Fentanyl. I am overweight, but not obese. A pediatric scope was used. I have endometriosis with obliteration of the cul-de-sac and 3 ovarian cysts that were not removed during laparoscopy because they were so inaccessible (10 weeks ago).
2124601 tn?1335155369 In a couple of weeks I'm going to be getting a colonoscopy and an endoscopy done at the same time. I've had both procedures done before (just not together) so I know what to expect as far as prep and all that other happy stuff. :) But having them done together has brought on some questions. Are the scopes done in the same room? Are they done at the same time? Do they change how they do the anesthesia? Any answers would be great. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Is there Another way to get a colonoscopy done without prep? I really can't go through it again even with possible cancer in my face ! I've been bloated put 40 lb. on in 4 mo. I'm constipated unless I take something & only go pinky finger width? Please is there a way to get colonoscopy without cleanse please reply?
Avatar m tn Hi, all. I am having an adverse reaction to a colonoscopy (or prep) I had in early December. I am having painful rectal and colon spasms that are being described as an impartial prolapse. I have never had straining or pressure like this until the prep, which turned me inside out. Has anyone had this experience? The doctor wants to run a pelvic MRI on me and have me see a physical therapist. I will do anything to make this stop, it hurts, I'm sore and it's scary. Many thanks...
Avatar m tn The last colonoscopy I had was in July 2020... prep consisted of a bottle of Magnesium citrate, followed by 2 Dulcolax, followed by 1/2 gallon of a Miralax solution to be guzzled according to a specific schedule. One tip I might offer is if you have to do the Miralax solution, be sure to mix in some lemon flavored Crystal Light (if allowed per your instructions). For previous colonoscopies I only mixed the Miralax with water and couldn't get down most of the last 3 glasses.
Avatar f tn MY colonoscopy was not bad at all. I wasd put to sleep. now the prep i think is the worst part. having to clean out your system. my dear friend i wish yous all the best!!!!
212161 tn?1599427282 need to have one but so scared to be put to sleep, do you know what they use, is it just like a relaxer shot, or is it something stronger. i dont mind the prep to do it , just not one to be put to sleep.
Avatar f tn it is now 10days since I had a colonoscopy and removal of a polyp.there was also some inflammation that the specialist said would go away he took biopsies and the polyp There is red blood inside the stools and on the bathroom tissue ever since the colonoscopy, why is this happening When will there be a return to normal This discussion is related to painful colonoscopy.
Avatar f tn Having a colonoscopy not that bad. The prep is annoying but the test itself is ok. Most doctors use a sedative called propofol that will knock you out but not give you a total-anesthesia type hangover. Colonoscopy will permit your doctor to visualize your entire colon and determine what is causing your symptoms. It is not routine for a person your age would not have been ordered if your symptoms did not warrant it. Good luck and try not to worry too much.
Avatar m tn For most people, the colonoscopy itself is not too painful. They will sedate you so that it isn't too uncomfortable. However, the prep for the colonoscopy is miserable. You need to clean out completely so you are not allowed to eat the day before and the day of the procedure, you can only drink clear liquids the day before the procedure, you can have nothing (not even water) the day of the procedure.
