Common Questions and Answers about Colon pain symptoms constipation

Avatar m tn If constipation is now new, and has replaced soft stools over the past few years, its likely the 2(pain and constipation) are tied together. The colon is actually quite a complex organ, and it has a mind of its own. I have talked to people who have had excruciating death-bed type pain in their colon. Had a colonoscopy and absolutely nothing wrong was found. The pain for you can also be tied to the newfound constipation.
Avatar n tn Is loose stool a symptom of colon cancer because my doctor says it is constipation that can signal colon cancer.
1391134 tn?1280008443 I have a sharp pain on the left side around my colon. it hurts usually all the time but here and there it doesnt. when i lie down or bend over is when it hurts the most. i didnt wanna go get checked out for something dumb so i wanted to get other opinions on what the deal is.
675786 tn?1330954244 s uncles died some years ago from colon cancer - although the symptoms were evident he delayed seeking medical advice and, when he eventually did so, the doctors said "If only you had come to see us sooner". Don't let this happen to you. Age 30 is certainly young for colon cancer but I recall a posting on Medhelp whereby a doctor said that the youngest age at which he/she had observed colon cancer signs was 16.
Avatar m tn For severe constipation, I've found that magnesium citrate is the best laxative out there (can be found over the counter). For the gas problems you can try gas-x (also over the counter). However, you should find a new GI doctor that will take you seriously.
Avatar f tn For the past 4 months I have had burning sensations and throbbing pain in that part of my colon, and in my lower left pelvic region as well. I also have had a UTI those 4 months, which will not go away. I'm doing everything I can possibly do (water, cranberry pills, DanActive) and I've been taking a medicine called Nitrofurantoin for about 2 months which seems to make the symptoms worse. A couple years ago I had the bacteria called C. Diff.
Avatar f tn The main question I have is would IBS cause the other symptoms listed below in addition to the constipation and stomach pain? I have never been this tired before and the muscle pain just does not go away. I am not anaemic or on iron.
Avatar f tn If you take too many fibers and probiotics but not enough fluids, then you can get constipation. Diverticular diseases of the colon, colonic cancer and IBS are the other causes which can cause sudden onset constipation. Hemorrhoids (piles) and anal fissures can also be the cause. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar m tn Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools). Irritable bowel syndrome can be a very difficult diagnosis to make. IBS is called a diagnosis of exclusion, which means that a doctor considers many other alternatives first, perhaps performing tests to rule out other problems.
Avatar n tn I have been having some odd symptoms, I have not went to the Dr because they always say its related to my gastric bypass, however that has been 5 years ago, and Ihavent had any problems since, I have been having constipation, with ALOT of abdominal pain and bloating (was told it was the bypass, even though it is a new thing) I have been severaly fatigued, Not like me at all, they checked a CBC is ALL, said it was fine, but the worst thing lately is the pain in my hand and also in my legs mid leg
Avatar m tn s disease, Chagas disease, colon inertia(nerves and/or muscles of the colon do not work normally) and pelvic floor dysfunction(the muscles of the lower pelvis that surround the rectum (the pelvic floor muscles) do not work normally). Increase the fiber amount in your diet. The best natural sources of fiber are fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. If still the symptoms persist then pls consult a gastroenterologist and discuss these possibilities. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn For the past few weeks i have been having lower abdominal pain, constipation, tenesmus, gas pain, loose stools, and acid reflux. My doctor sent me to have a blood test and the results have not come back, but im still concerned that it could be Colon Cancer. I'm afraid that it could be cancer, and i honestly hope that the blood test come back as positive for Inflammatory Bowel, rather than having cancer...please help?
Avatar n tn Can you describe the pain you feel? Abdominal pain is rare in colon cancer. Cancer of the colon and rectum can exhibit itself in several ways such as: bleeding from your rectum or blood mixed with your stool; fatigue and pale skin; abdominal distension; abdominal pain; persistent nausea or vomiting; unexplained weight loss; change in frequency or character of stool; sensation of incomplete evacuation after a bowel movement or rectal pain. The duration of symptoms usually takes 14 weeks.
Avatar m tn I am 45 year old male with constipation and mild right side abdominal pain, i also have experieinced pretty significant lower right side back pain but recently have moved so i do not know if the back pain and constipation are related. I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago after a postive FOB test and only one small polyp was found that was benign. My appetite is good and other than the change in boewl habits during the last few weeks i have no other symptoms that could be considered colon cancer like.
Avatar m tn m healthy again, but after a while I started to have strange symptoms which were abdominal pain, blood in stool, constipation etc. Drank fiber for weeks which helped me to be able to pass a stool in a few days, so that i stopped having constipation. By now my symptoms are : upper abominal pain (sharp, sudden), urge to have bowel movement, I pass stool 1-2 times a day, my stools are thin and foul smelling, sometimes it has red blood on its surface, and when I poop I can't feel my rectum.
Avatar f tn No biopsies were taken and diagnosis was diverticulosis - again located on opposite of body to where I get the pain. Cancer inside colon was ruled out and I am now on a (presumably long) waiting list to hear from consultant. I know IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion and that symptoms vary. I feel something must be causing this disabling pain and that they are missing something.

Avatar f tn Thanks for the info, but I don't have constipation problems. It's pain down the left side and across the front w/ infection in the intestions and vomiting on a regular basis. Then when I came out of the procedure the doctor said "your constipation problems" I said I don't have that problem, he replied "your diaheria problem" I replied that's not me either. Made me feel like it wasn't me he did the test on.
Avatar f tn ( I also am currently taking prescription pain meds for my back and leg pain but this happens when I'm not on them. Also have pain in stomach when this is happening. Is it possible to retrain the bowel to go potty at different time of day? Any thoughts advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks.
Avatar m tn i have none of the other symptoms such as weight loss, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, no constipation at all. its so hard to tell with this kind of thing whats wrong cause it could be SO many things from what i have read on the internet.
Avatar m tn Hello, At your age, chances of colon cancer are very less. Many people with colon cancer experience no symptoms in the early stages of the disease. Then varied symptoms occur depending on the site. These include change in your bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation or a change in the consistency of your stool, blood in stool, abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, feeling that your bowel doesn't empty completely and weakness or fatigue.
Avatar n tn when i was 5 (50 years ago) i was diagnosed with an enlarged colon. It took me 2 weeks to have a bowel movement and when i did it hurt sooo bad. I was hospitalized and I was told that the docotrs somehow found a way to keep my colon from growing until i grew up to it. I took 2 tablespoons f mineral oil every night til I was 12. Once in a while I would get backed up in my teen years and have to take something called black powder which was like a bomb going off in my colon.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering with bloating, abdominal pain, gas, stomach aces, and constipation for about 4 years. I have been to 2 different GI doctors and my recent one is the one that diagnosed me. My question is does anyone have a solution for the pain? I can deal with the bloating but the stomach pains are becoming unbearable. My doctor prescribed me some medication but it was not covered by my insurance. This issue is really starting to interfere with my daily activities such as work.
Avatar n tn The more laxatives and colon cleansers you use, the less work your colon has to do and becomes lazy. I would not do these, at least for a while. MIralax is an excellent product, is not a stimulant, and can be used as long as needed. Be careful with the fiber as too much causes constipation. It appears that the only thing that has changed is you not using the colon cleansers. So, I would give it some time for your bowel to start working on it's own without the colon cleansers.
