Avatar m tn And most importantly, watch your diet. The best book on what to eat and what not to eat is a book written by Dr. Don Colbert called, What Would Jesus Eat. Aviod foods that come in packages and eat real food. For example, for breakfast eat things like steel cut oats with raw fruit. For lunch eat things like a big raw salad with extra virgin olive oil and balsalmic vinegar, some feta cheese made from goat's milk (dairy from cow's milk is constipating.
Avatar f tn I have since decided to not bother with cleansing diets, as I eat a healthy and balanced diet anyways with lots of fiber, vegetables/fruit, --no more apple cider vinegar, legumes, fish, lean and organically raised meats, lots of water, avoiding dairy and soy, and so on. Having been told that that's really all a cleansing diet is (adding more types of food to your diet, eliminating others, and/or fasting, or some combination of all three), I realize that I really don't need to do one.
451343 tn?1256250831 A word about the colon cleansing. It is usually a good thing to do. But maybe not right now. When you are doing a cleansing, you are in the bathroom quite a bit and that is probably already going on? Also, any kind of detoxing like a metals detox or Candida detox usually makes you feel pretty sick while you are going through it. Because it brings up all the toxins in your body and tries to eliminate them. Either through the skin, itchy rashes or the bathroom thing.
Avatar n tn No scientific evidence supports the alleged benefits of colon cleansing. The bowel itself is not dirty and barring drugs or disease, cleans itself naturally without need for assistance. Some types of colon cleansing present potential hazards also. I would suggest a gastroenterologist’s consultation and getting evaluated for different possibilities.Various other causes that need to be ruled out are over-use of stimulant laxatives (e.g.
Avatar m tn just a question, I was at GNC today and saw a product for colon or gastro cleansing. Has anyone used these, does it work and is it healty?
Avatar n tn If colon cleansing was beneficial, why wouldn’t our doctors order them?
Avatar n tn Yes, I know they are completly qualified to treat this disease, but if you have never had it....you do NOT know how certain foods "feel" as they move through your system. So I am now faced with the medical comments of, "After the second outbreak, the next is surgey to reconnect your bowels" I want to AVOID SURGERY at all costs and manage my disease through diet and daily care.
3101013 tn?1433454105 Thes symptoms are usually coming from pancreatic insufficiency and are due to inadequate enzyme production by the pancreas. This is readily treated by supplementing these with enzmes in pill form. Colon cleansing would not be part of a recommended course of therapy. I think you need a more thorough GI evaluation as some of your symptoms don't fit with the reason that you give.
350945 tn?1274423121 Hi, I may have MS or Fibro or both but my mom has Fibro and Chemical sensitives and does this colon cleansing and swears by it. I am personally thinking no way for me but I am chicken for sure. She has done it on and off for years and I must say she is in much better shape then before and better then me. SO I guess if you have the right person and you can handle this I have seen it work.
Avatar f tn I am 56 years old and have been diagnosed with IC, IBS with steatorrhea, severe osteoporosis, have had L4 laminectomy, L4,L5, S1 discectomies, I now have Spinal Stenosis and live in constant pain. I have had Hep C, type1 for over 30 years. I've had a total hysterectomy which was botched and they had to remove a portion of my colon that they had stapled through. I have had multiple traumatic surgeries.
Avatar f tn that's just it...i do drink tons of water, exercise and eat the best i can. the inner workings just got so messed during my pregnancy i can't seem to get them back in order. i'd been reading that after doing a good cleansing that usually everything goes back to working properly. but i'm not a big fan of taking....well anything. but *sigh* i don't know what else i can do now. my doc prescribed stool softeners but they're not helping. at all.
Avatar f tn Simplest cleanse is fasting, but cleansing what? There are liver cleanses, colon cleanses, kidney cleanses -- they can be very good for health, but not very useful for losing weight in a healthy fashion because the weight will just come back as soon as you return to your normal way of eating.
Avatar f tn s possible you have small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), since your ileocecal valve was removed and bacteria from the colon were able to colonize small intestine. Bacteria eat the bile and cause bloating and diarrhea. Treatment is with antibiotics. 3. HIDA scan to check bile ducts. 4.
Avatar f tn ll want to eat more, just explain that the foods you want her to eat will help her feel good. Personally, my parents started not telling me what was in certain foods (like garlic, i hate garlic if i know its there!) and I eventually got used to eating it. I'm still picky but I'm getting better, I hope things get better for you and your daughter, please keep us posted!
Avatar f tn does anyone have any advice on liver cleansing products, also foods i seriously need to sort myself out health wise. feel sluggish all the time and have a stitch like ache under my rib cage.
Avatar f tn This is going to be late for you, but you should never take liver cleansers while taking medication. What you're describing is a combination colon/liver cleanse. Milk thistle and yellowdock, for example, are liver cleansers, and could theoretically wash some of the medication out of our system, as the body sees virtually all medication as toxic.
1387175 tn?1326400997 Yes, I've had several and they are not a big deal. We have an hereditary colon cancer in our family, and my children from puberty, had to have them yearly, and they had no issues with it except for the prep. Different doctors use different things for cleansing the colon for the procedure. This ends up causing you to go to the bathroom many times the night prior to your procedure, but it's just to make sure your colon is clean so they can get a good view of it.
Avatar m tn I think it depends on the type of enema. Using enemas frequently for constipation can cause your rectum to "forget" how to have a bowel movement naturally. Using enemas for "colon cleansing", I believe is not good, because your colon doesn't need any cleansing, it does this itself.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 45 year old healthy woman--I eat a very well balanced diet & drink upwards of 60 + ounces of water everyday. I weigh 144 lbs. & am about 5' 6" tall. When I was 33 (about 12 years ago) years old I was experiencing a pain in my lower right side (I thought it was my ovary) the pain was as bad as a labor pain.
Avatar f tn Bee pollen is another extremely rich source of multiple nutrients, and royal jelly even more so. This class of foods is called super foods because of the amazing quantity of nutrients packed into such a small space. But variety is still a key, and then you have to decide how well you digest a particular food.
Avatar m tn Would getting part of my colon removed help if it is food allergies instead of diverticulitis? I can eat food from my house (nothing processed) and not have a problem, but as soon as I go to a restaurant I have severe pain for days in my lower left colon.
Avatar m tn You need to take immodium anti-diarrhea medication (over the counter). I have a son (38) who had his colon removed and has gotten around the diarrhea by figuring out which foods cause it, and avoiding them. Keep yourself hydrated with orange juice and Gatorade. If it was recent that you had your colon removed, the diarrhea will improve on it's own with time. Keep a list of what you eat and start eliminating/adding new foods until you can determine what is worse on you.
Avatar n tn STOP COLON CLEANSING....very bad for you....the colon has good bacteria in it that fights all the bad bacteria...if you rid the colon of that bacteria your defenses are all the way down. as far as your other symptoms have a colonoscopy/endoscopy done by the gastro it will tell them everthing.
