Avatar f tn A cleansing diet would be rearranging your entire diet, for a short time or forever, to emphasize cleansing toxins out of your colon, liver, and other organs. The reason you read about fasting a lot is that it's the best cleansing diet there is -- you take in no toxins while your body has the opportunity to clean itself out in the meantime. How long to fast is controversial, but when first starting out it's usually recommended to do one day, then move on later to two, etc.
Avatar m tn just a question, I was at GNC today and saw a product for colon or gastro cleansing. Has anyone used these, does it work and is it healty?
Avatar f tn Hello I am a person who has suffered for at least 3 - 4 years with diverticulitis with on set of problems relating to my being extremely bloating, constipated you name it, and the PAIN unbearable at times. Yet I have tried everything Fiber in my diet, changing my eating habits, eating smaller amounts so I wouldn't feel as bloated or constipated. What can be done? Avatar f tn I had loose stools for a couple days before I went into labor with my first 2 kiddos I think it's nature's way of cleansing the colon.

Avatar n tn If colon cleansing was beneficial, why wouldn’t our doctors order them?
Avatar n tn i have been experiencing nausea after eating certain foods. Is there some foods i should avoid eating like fried foods or hamburger? why do i have gas all the time?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 45 year old healthy woman--I eat a very well balanced diet & drink upwards of 60 + ounces of water everyday. I weigh 144 lbs. & am about 5' 6" tall. When I was 33 (about 12 years ago) years old I was experiencing a pain in my lower right side (I thought it was my ovary) the pain was as bad as a labor pain.
1387175 tn?1326400997 We have an hereditary colon cancer in our family, and my children from puberty, had to have them yearly, and they had no issues with it except for the prep. Different doctors use different things for cleansing the colon for the procedure. This ends up causing you to go to the bathroom many times the night prior to your procedure, but it's just to make sure your colon is clean so they can get a good view of it.
Avatar m tn I had a 3/4 colon resection, which means they took 3/4 of my colon out, after the surgury I have excessive foul smelling gas,a small appetite, and very loose stools, I have tried everything probiotics, yogurt, beano, levbid a perscription to slow my colon,But I still have embarrassing smelly gas like sewage that just lingers.I don't know what to do it's hard to live with and work.
Avatar n tn None of them has helped the symptoms except maybe the colon that stuck out seems to do that less now. I tried doing enemas, mild colon cleansing herbs, prune juice, psyllium husk powder with lots of water, and aloe vera juice. Any more suggestions?
Avatar m tn Make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. It is costly if you don't have an insurance, regardless of age, if you are in doubt, consult with the Gas.. to have a colon scan. It takes a day of cleansing and a day of check up. Don't wait till too late. Colonsnocopy is suggested to the over 50 but no longer truth. You may develop a polyp in your 20s 30s 40s as well. Check if in doubt. When you see blool in your stool, act quickly. Polyp if not taken care, will turn bad.
Avatar n tn The basic problem is gas itself. Gas can be avoided by eliminating foods that produce gas. Which foods to exclude - this may vary a lot from person to person, but two simple diet trials may be tried: - 4 days lactose free diet. In lactose intolerance always some gas is produced by colonic bacteria. - 4 days low.fructose diet. In fructose malabsorption fructose (and sorbitol) trigger about the same symptoms as lactose.
Avatar n tn I changed my diet several times, did fasting, colon cleansing, herbs, teas, you name it - but all no effect. I even did a colonoscomy but it turned up nothing. Doctors who I have talked to really don't know what to say when I am brave enough to mention my symptoms. I have done lots of internet research about what I could have, but I can't narrow it down all by myself. I have heard that some people are unable to break down certain chemicals and thus produce foul smells.
Avatar m tn The gas is painful on my left side of colon. So now trying to figure out what time frame it takes to reach the beginning of my left colon to identify what I am eating hours before. The guessed answer I am looking for would be about 2, 4, 6, 8 hours ect.. So then I can start to narrow down foods in that time frame. I eat on a set schedule and it hits sharply at 4am. My guess is breakfast but don't know. I change breakfast and gas still happens 4am sharp.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40mg Omeprazole for a year now for a stomach ulcer and because I also take celebrex 200mg for osteoarthritis I also have diverticulitis/ diverticulosis and had 30 polyps removed from my colon dec.
Avatar m tn I am basically 100% sure that you do not have colon cancer. It is probably gas pains which can be caused by spicy foods and fatty foods. I wouldn't worry at all about the smell.
Avatar f tn t aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble. The way the colon is shaped and with the gas rising upward, when laying on the right side it gets trapped in the ascending and transverse sections of the colon and is not as easily expelled as it is when laying on the left side. I recommend trying some OTC treatments like beano, gas X, prilosec, prevacid, Mylanta, mylox etc. for a few days.
Avatar f tn This is going to be late for you, but you should never take liver cleansers while taking medication. What you're describing is a combination colon/liver cleanse. Milk thistle and yellowdock, for example, are liver cleansers, and could theoretically wash some of the medication out of our system, as the body sees virtually all medication as toxic.
1378071 tn?1313420821 Has anyone tried the ACIA / COLON cleansing pills, drink whatever.... they say the fat just comes right off?!?! Comeon now... Does that really work, im trying to get opinons before i try it!!!
Avatar m tn Cabbage, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, turnips, onions, garlic, leeks, lentils, pulses and some seeds such as fennel, sunflower and poppy all produce a lot of gas in the colon. Reducing the amount of these foods in the diet will reduce flatus. http://www.mims.co.
