Colon cleansing by a doctor

Common Questions and Answers about Colon cleansing by a doctor

colon-cleanse

Avatar m tn just a question, I was at GNC today and saw a product for colon or gastro cleansing. Has anyone used these, does it work and is it healty?
Avatar n tn If colon cleansing was beneficial, why wouldn’t our doctors order them?
Avatar f tn No, not just for a colonoscopy. The colon cleansing done for a colonoscopy is very quick acting and very strong pharmaceutical products, not what is used in natural colon cleansing, which takes longer and is usually much gentler. If it works too quickly, yes, you'll get dehydrated, but colon cleansing does help rid the body of toxins that stick to the walls of the digestive system. One way to do this is to fast; no food in, food out.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Zoloft for depression and anxiety and am preparing to do a detox colon cleanse. Is it safe to do a all natural herbal detox colon cleanse while on Zoloft as long as the Zoloft is taken a few hours apart from all other supplements?
Avatar f tn A cleansing diet is different from taking a supplement, which is what you're doing by drinking apple cider vinegar. People have claimed all kinds of benefits from organic apple cider vinegar with the mother included in the product; the ultimate believer that this cured everything is Dr. Bragg, who probably isn't actually a doctor, but who knows? It does do some great things for people, and harmful things to others; it depends on how people react to acidity.
1378071 tn?1313420821 Has anyone tried the ACIA / COLON cleansing pills, drink whatever.... they say the fat just comes right off?!?! Comeon now... Does that really work, im trying to get opinons before i try it!!!
569755 tn?1220872102 But this is considered the number one colon cleansing program in the world, and is very safe. There is a FAQ page on the site that answers the majority of questions regarding the cleanse if you would like to inquire further. Anyway, I hope you find a cure, whether it be this program or not (although I personally recommend it), and the link is posted below. See ya! drnatura.
Avatar m tn I think it depends on the type of enema. Using enemas frequently for constipation can cause your rectum to "forget" how to have a bowel movement naturally. Using enemas for "colon cleansing", I believe is not good, because your colon doesn't need any cleansing, it does this itself.
425312 tn?1279966179 In my opinion, the whole colon cleansing thing is a scam. Around 5 years ago I had a colonoscopy done. They put you through a three-day fasting/fluid drinking thing before that. But no enemas or other fluid induction. As they were doing the procedure (it is no big deal by the way), I could see my colon on the TV screen. It was as fresh and clean as a . . . well . . . baby's bottom. So I don't take this stuff about stuff accumulating in your colon seriously anymore.
3101013 tn?1433454105 Thes symptoms are usually coming from pancreatic insufficiency and are due to inadequate enzyme production by the pancreas. This is readily treated by supplementing these with enzmes in pill form. Colon cleansing would not be part of a recommended course of therapy. I think you need a more thorough GI evaluation as some of your symptoms don't fit with the reason that you give.
Avatar f tn looked at digestion, probiotics, acid reflux, colon cleansing etc.... Lastly I had a stool test for everything (such as allergies, parasites, etc...) everything looked good except found I had H Pylori. treated it. STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! What the heck is wrong with me? (and dont tell me IBS.
350945 tn?1274423121 Hi, I may have MS or Fibro or both but my mom has Fibro and Chemical sensitives and does this colon cleansing and swears by it. I am personally thinking no way for me but I am chicken for sure. She has done it on and off for years and I must say she is in much better shape then before and better then me. SO I guess if you have the right person and you can handle this I have seen it work.
451343 tn?1256250831 A word about the colon cleansing. It is usually a good thing to do. But maybe not right now. When you are doing a cleansing, you are in the bathroom quite a bit and that is probably already going on? Also, any kind of detoxing like a metals detox or Candida detox usually makes you feel pretty sick while you are going through it. Because it brings up all the toxins in your body and tries to eliminate them. Either through the skin, itchy rashes or the bathroom thing.
1454383 tn?1288947277 s for cleaning drugs out of your system to pass a drug test, not a colon cleanser. Maximum burn is a scam -- acai berry is, like all berries, high in antioxidants, but it won't help you lose weight. Real colon cleansers are based on fiber such as psyllium and some have laxatives in them, which aren't healthy, such as diet teas.
Avatar n tn s certainly possible to do that in theory, I suppose, if you did it all the time. Periodic cleansing, either by fasting or cleansing, would seem to present a more hospitable environment for beneficial organisms by keeping it healthy, but who knows?
Avatar n tn Not sure why you think you have colonic inertia because your doctor had a hard time performing a colonoscopy. Colonic inertia is extremely rare and indicates that the muscles of the colon do not function. It has nothing to do with the shape of the colon. You also do not develop this as a complication of surgery. I have colonic inertia and had my colon removed because of this 6 days ago. I am sitting in my hospital room as we speak.
Avatar m tn I had a similar condition and did 3 months of colon cleansing and my skin is 90% healed. The skin on out the outside indicate what is going on internally. During the cleanse I lost 25lbs because when you're detoxing you are not hungry. Once I understood I had a toxic colon and got into the cleansing with herbs and colonics I felt better and better each month, my energy came back. I am getting to do the liver cleanse which you do after the colon is healthy.
Avatar m tn Make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. It is costly if you don't have an insurance, regardless of age, if you are in doubt, consult with the Gas.. to have a colon scan. It takes a day of cleansing and a day of check up. Don't wait till too late. Colonsnocopy is suggested to the over 50 but no longer truth. You may develop a polyp in your 20s 30s 40s as well. Check if in doubt. When you see blool in your stool, act quickly. Polyp if not taken care, will turn bad.
Avatar f tn My GI has run thousands of tests on me and has diagnosed me with chronic constipation. He said at this point there are no more medications for me. I saw a colon surgeon and he said colon removal surgery was an option. My GI says we should just do the daily enemas for now but I am in constant discomfort with back pain and fatigue, and the enemas are no longer offering relief. What type of doctor do I need now, after my GI and colon surgeon. Are there motility specialists?
Avatar n tn t seem fazed by it at all, though the holistic doctor said we could do a colonoscopy just to make sure. I got the feeling none of them thought it was anything. I've had three CEA tests come back within the normal range of 0-5, though they went up from 2.0 last April, to 4.6 in August, to 5.0 in October. So, I'm befuddled. I keep having intermittent sensations there - either pain or just weird feelings of pressure just before gas bubbles pass through.
Avatar f tn I had loose stools for a couple days before I went into labor with my first 2 kiddos I think it's nature's way of cleansing the colon.
Avatar f tn Hello I am a person who has suffered for at least 3 - 4 years with diverticulitis with on set of problems relating to my being extremely bloating, constipated you name it, and the PAIN unbearable at times.
