I use saline 3 times a day to dehydrate it and I inhale on viks to relieve the pressure i am experiencing. An extra worry is that my mucus is thick and yellow/green. In the past days (and usually when i get a cold), it was watery and transparent/whitish. I called my doctor and he said that it might be indicative of a secondary infection like a sinus infection. He told me to give it another 48 hours and if it doesn't get better, i should go and get checked.

mucus....go to any drug store, grocery store...buy Mucinex DM which you take ev. 12hrs....it thins the mucus. If it continues to have color...see your doctor...you may need antibiotics..

Yellow means infection or any other color lol. White means it's normal. Your mucus plug looks like clear snot. I lost parts of my mucus plug at 30 weeks. It's normal.

I have had a stuffy nose for the last few days that is worse at night and mornings. It started out with clear mucus, but since yesterday has turned yellow with blood in it, especially in the mornings. I also feel bad, but have had no fever. I get cold easily. Hi there, the yellow mucus sounds like it could be a respiratory virus. Do you have any form of asthma? Tape worms or insects would not affect the lungs like that. It sounds to me like some sort of respiratory infection that might need a stronger form of anti-biotics. Are you a smoker by any chance?

Well, I tell ya, pregnancy brings out the colors of the rainbow in terms of discharge!! Yellow mucus is actually listed as normal. If it goes to a greenish color, call your doctor as that is an indication of an infection. If your mucus isn't itchy or super thick, then I'd say it is normal. (normal for pregnancy that is). If you have any additional symptoms develop though, call your doc to be safe.

I'm a 24 year old, relatively healthy male, and I recently (about a week ago) contracted the first cold of the season that was going around. This strain was a doozy, and sort of knocked me off my feet for the first few days; I had a fever, was exhausted, lots of congestion and coughing, etc. After the first few days, I noticed that my upper teeth started hurting whenever I was walking.

About a month ago it started with a bad cold with a nasty cough involving coughing up yellow mucus with a runny nose and clogged sinuses. After about a week my cold symptoms subsided and the cough was really the only thing I had left. Currently, I'm still coughing although it's not as bad but I can feel the congestion in my chest. The mucus color is now clear which I think is a good sign. I also have seasonal alergies which I think does not help either.

Im having a bright yellow muscus its all slimy and earlier this morning it was kinda brownish and red. Now its bright yellow any idea why???

Yellow discharge is part of your mucus plug but if it does have an odd odor it could be something else

I've had a cold with the obv. symptoms of runny noses and blocked/congested nose etc.............but while i was in the kitchen i slightly bent over and suddenly a yellow fluid came out of my right nasal passage.....it had the consistency of water and it was uncontrollable and i can also feel something in the back of my throat which is probably that discharge. I blew my nose and only some mucus came out......i've no head injuries or anything serious that has happened over the past month.

Hey: update questioN. So the clear discharge went away for one day. But bow it's back, but no longer clear. Now it's a dark yellow. As if you have a cold, & blow your nose yellow. Still no blood, no ordor, and there was a little piece of brown in it. I see my Dr tomorrow so hopefully I'll get a answer just wanted to see if this is what you Ment With my second child I lost my mucus plug but it was a big blob.

About 2 days after this incident, I developed a sore throat, nasal congestion with bright yellow mucus, headache, and a low grade (100 degree F) fever. The sore throat disappeared within 24 hours, but I still have the mild fever and congestion. i have a few little blisters on my lips that itch there was little white spot like a tiny dot there other day and now it is a blister how can i tell if it is just a cold sore or HSV 1 I have already been tested for every STD and im clear but this is the second time I have gottren one of these and I thought i was coming down with a cold other day I was coughin up some little bits of yellow and some got on my lip and stuck there overnoight and dried could that have caused the blisters to form.....

I am 19 1/2 weeks pregnant. I have had a cold for a few days now with some pretty hard coughing. I have some sore abdominal muscles but seem to be on the mend (I hope!). If I exhale all the way it is quit loud if I open my mouth. I will then force a deep cough and phlamn(sp?) will come out, not deep green or yellow now. Had that during the flu but now just it is annoying at night. On the web everyone I saying bronchitis and other freak out things but this is after a feverl - so not sure antibiotics would help. Sorry digressing...
