Im 23wks along and running a low grade fever and have a cold. What is safe to take for post-nasal drop, sore throat and fever? Is Day-Quil safe?

ZICAM-I will swear by this product. If you even think you are gettign a cold or flu start ZICAM right away. The worst I have gotten in years i s runny nose for a day and a headache. Okay, so I've had my first cold in over 10 years and it is owning me like a pair of old gym trunks. I have never been able to take either antihistamines nor decongestants because of how they made me feel, so I suffer a LOT! I know herbal remedies and most over the counter drugs are out but does anyone have any tips for pregnant women who get sick a lot? So far I have had two colds, an ear infection and walking pneumonia and I'm only 16 weeks along in only the beginning of winter. The only advice my doctor gives me is to wash my hands a lot but this clearly isn't working. I got my flu shot so I'm not too worried about that but I know constantly being sick is not good either.

Unless you have a fever over 100, I would just use OTC and natural remedies. Keep an eye on it and if you develop a higher fever, the sore throat persists more than three days or you develop flu like symptoms- then call your pcp.

Also eating garlic is good, not really pleasant but it works. Google cold home remedies and they can properly tell you the steps. Be patient they work. I had a nasty cough with mucus and didn't want to take medicine to be safe.

m allergic to cold medicine, so I always use natural remedies. As soon as I feel a cold coming on, I double my Vitamin C. I also steam fresh mint leaves for congestion and make and my own vitamin water using mint leaves, fresh cut lemons and limes. I can usually kick a cold within 2-3 days using these remedies. Have you ever tried the Zicam cold products. I like the swab variety for the nose. It comes in several forms and if used at the beginning of a cold can stop it in it's tracks and definitly makes it less severe. Also, my 10 year old daughter was born without a thyroid gland too. Would love to hear anything that you'd like to share about this withn us as it is rare to find others who are like my daughter.
