Cold chest pain cough

Common Questions and Answers about Cold chest pain cough

Avatar n tn which first i lost my voice, then the next day I had coughing that hurts in my chest when I cough. I also have really bad chest pains- I took Mucinex to break up mucus- but that made me feel like I was gurgling on my mucus with each breath. I can't even lay down because I feel like I'm choking on my mucus- so I sleep sitting up . So far no fever, but slight body aches. I am taking lots of vitamins but don't know what else I can take. Does this sound like something in particular?
Avatar n tn Hi, Has a chest xray been done to rule out any rib fracture, chest infection, or air in the pleural space? There could be several causes of the symptoms you are having including a muscle pull, injury or trauma at the site, chest infection, etc. Do you have any associated symptoms? You should apply some local pain relief medications, take some oral pain relief medications, maintain a proper posture throughout the day, try some warm compresses.
Avatar m tn My son got a cold and now has a dry, persistent cough with chest pain. What would be the best over the counter medication for these types of symptoms. He is an asthmatic as well, however, he is not wheezing or experiencing any symptoms related to asthma. He also does not have a fever, but I am concerned that it could be a bronchial or upper respiratory infection. I would appreciate any assistance you could give. Thanks!

Avatar f tn It could be that is why I had this in the past, but I can't remember for sure. I have a chest cold and cough so hard that I wet my pants. Seriously. Is it possible that is causing the cramps? My ribs hurt, and I also am having back pain. I will be looking for your response. Thank you.
Avatar f tn The pain is now 97% gone and so is the cough !! ... It had gotten very bad and the cough had gotten worse , the pain was starting to scare me a little .. I am a over the road driver and carry a lot of my food to keep from eating out , including instant coffee ! Which I thought might be the problem , dropped it cold turkey and WOW over night the pain was gone .. Again thank you for the return post .
1953268 tn?1454818640 with your mom, explain everything that you've described here, and insist on having a chest exam. Green mucus can be a sign of infection. Chest pain should never be ignored, and should definitely be looked at by a physician in order to rule out any thing serious. Years ago, I had symptoms much like yours, but I chose to skip the doctors visit and stay home. It turned out that I had bronchitis, then developed pneumonia.
Avatar f tn i have had this bad cough for about 2 months. i am now having upper rib pain and sometimes when i breath you can hear stuff rumble in my chest. i was real sick with what i thought was a cold a couple weeks ago and went to the hospital they said it was probably upper resp infection or bronchitis. i was on an antibiotic for a week and this pills for the cough. the pills still didnt stop me from coughing and i am still feeling bad. what could it possibly be??

Avatar f tn The most common symptoms may include trembling, dyspnea (shortness of breath), heart palpitations, chest pain (or chest tightness), hot flashes, cold flashes, burning sensations (particularly in the facial or neck area), sweating, nausea, dizziness (or slight vertigo), light-headedness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), sensations of choking or smothering. Stress is an important causing factor.

Avatar n tn If you have been blowing your nose too hard you may have ruptured a blood vessel in your nose. If the blood was mixed with green or yellow mucus, it is likely you have a sinus infection. The pain in your cheek also indicates you have a sinus problem. As you have now been coughing for 4 weeks, I would suggest you get examined by your doctor. Make sure you drink plent of fluids, avoid milk products at the moment because it encourages mucus production.
Avatar m tn Hi, I caught a cold about 2 months back. I had fever for a day and cold and cough lasted for nearly a month. This was the 1st time i was for such a long period. I was traveling frequently and i assumed that to be the reason. Now Iam still experiencing frequent cough with greenish yellow sputum for over a month. Iam not feeling any other discomfort or symptoms. Need definitive advice regarding this.
Avatar n tn Right from the beginnig it used to throw out white sticky substance from my mouth and its still there. There is absolutely no chest infection or pain in the throat, its just the irritation. My blood cells count is perfectly normal. What should i do.
Avatar f tn What can I take to get rid of a cold while pregnant and my son which is almost 11 months has it now too. I dont like medicine but I really dont want to be sick anymore.

Avatar n tn Any cough that lasts 3 weeks or more is concerning and needs to be checked on by a doctor. Even though many viral illnesses cause persistent cough, one bacterial illness is concerning if the cough lasts 3 weeks or longer: bordatella pertussis. This is the whooping cough bacteria and causes a really strong cough. Go see your doc! Dr.
Avatar n tn I am a 41 year old female. Dec. 14th I came down with a chest cold. ( no fever)Finally last Tuesday, I saw my ENT. He gave me two shots ( steroid & antibiotic) and also put me on Cipro.... When I went to him, I told him of a stabbing pain I get under rightbreast when Im coughing. He blew it off & said that if teh cough didnt clear up, Id need to get a chest X-ray. In the mean time, I dont want to cough because of the pain, yet thats the only way to get up teh green gunk in my lungs!
Avatar f tn I am suffering from my second chest cold in as many months. I haven't had the flu in years (never get the flu shot), and in the past I have been able to fend off serious colds and flu with homeopathic remedies and things like Mucinex. But last month I suddenly developed a mild sore/ticklish throat and by the next day I was heavily congested in my chest. No stuffy nose, no fever, just horrible coughing and phlegm that was difficult to cough up. I also had very achy joints and bad headache.
Avatar f tn However, the last day my chest is very tight, if i cough it restricts my chest and hurts when i cough. I have no other symptoms other than my chest wall. I am drinking hot tea with honey and have put vicks vapor rub on my chest, but it hurts to talk and especially when i cough. please help.
Avatar n tn The problem is I am now wheezing when I inhale and the cough is pretty constant and my back, chest and stomach hurt from the coughing. It's a deep cough. I feel like I will throw up. The cough bothers me day and night. I'm using vicks vapor rub. Is this just a cold, flu or is it more serious? I don't have insurance so I need to know if I need to see a doctor.

Avatar n tn I am a 47 y/o male with a cough, I have HIV with a cd4 count of 226 and a viral load of <100. I developed a sinus cold a month ago, the cold went to my chest and most of the congestion is gone away. I still hear a rattle and feel like there is something still in my left lung. I developed stabbing apins a few days ago. They come and go and do not last long. This happens in the left backside of my ribs. My doc told me just to monitor it as it can be muscular from coughing.
Avatar f tn However, over the past week, I’ve been experiencing a mild pain in the middle of my chest that has me worried. I noticed that it hurts when I move around or press on it but I haven’t done anything that could have caused an injury. It also hurts when I take a deep breath, so at first I thought that the cold I had recently was coming back, but I don’t have a cough or any trouble breathing. I tried taking Advil and it helped temporarily, but then the aching came back. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn Anytime there is chest pain present it can be alarming due to the possibility of cardiac problems. But, in your case, I would lean toward respiratory or gastro-intestinal issues. The persistent cough, along with the possible presence of lingering congestion, could be causing your upper airways and throat to be inflamed and sore. Also, there could be a possibility of a hiatal hernia. Frequent or hard coughing is a risk factor. I hope that you will consider seeing a physician. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Does your chest ache along the edges of your breastbone, and does your pain get worse when you cough or take a deep breath? It can be COSTOCHONDRITIS, an inflammation of the joints in your chest. Costochondritis usually goes away on its own. Try an anti-inflammatory medicine to relieve the pain. Heat compresses may also help. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a physician.
Avatar n tn I too have been having pains in the sternum area for a long time,. its very scary i know man. its hard to pinpoint exactly what is causing the pain. acid reflux? gas? anxiety? theres many things that can cause the problem. You may even have LOW stomach acid. I would try a pill of beatine HCL with food, if it causes you a warm sensation in stomach that means you do not have low stomach acid, but if it doesnt, then you have low stomach acid.
