Common Questions and Answers about Coffee enema and pregnancy

coffee

Avatar f tn Prune juice. Raisin Bran. Lots of fiber to keep things moving. I'm having the same problem right now. I just ran out of coffee too, it usually helps.
Avatar f tn I have IBS, general pregnancy constipation and constipation as a side effect from the medication I am on for my Hyperemesis. I'm 38 weeks and this has been an issue my entire pregnancy. I've tried it ALL and nothing worked. I was even rushed to the hospital after not being able to go for 14 DAYS!!! Per the doctor and my home care nurse, I have to give myself an enema every 3 days and that's been Heaven sent. It's a Fleet Saline Enema and it's safe!
Avatar n tn You purchase a standard enema set from the drug store and substitute coffee instead of water. Remember that coffee contains caffeine and it will be readily absorbed in the mucosa, causing ventricular irritability. A single coffee enema can be the equivelent of drinking ten cups of coffee. It is a protocol of dubious value.

Avatar f tn Top 10 Dangers of the Coffee Enema The dangers associated with the coffee enema, green tea enema, coffee colonic (coffee or tea high enema), and coffee or tea suppository are as follows: Adding ingredients to the enema recipe (such as coffee, green tea, vinegar, baking soda, bath/epsom salt, or minerals) is not proven to do anything superior to the effects of plain saline. Inserting anything into the anus may result in anal tearing.
Avatar f tn Lots of Apple juice and/or grape juice 100% juice its much safer and healthier for you and baby and if you drink a glass or two a day it works wonders!
Avatar f tn A good cup of dark roast coffee always helps me. And don't feel weird asking those kids of questions here...luckily were all in the same boat and many of us have experienced constipation at one point or another during pregnancy...along will all the other gross stuff lol. Try coffee hopefully it helps. I know when I get constipated in get horrible pains in my belly so I will do anything to get things moving. Keep fruits in your diet to help keep it at a minimum. Good luck!!
Avatar f tn I thought I couldn't drink coffee, that's something I haven't tried
Avatar f tn My parents and I have been doing it over the past few months. We boil coffee to do enema with enema buckets that we have already. The reason I started doing it is because of constant fatigue, always feeling tired and of course, my bowel movements are not so constant. After the first time doing, I felt some improvement. After each time I do enema I feel better and better. Until the last few times I did I start to have this pain I mentioned, which worries me.
Avatar f tn I had it real bad due to the medicine i was on and nthn helped meds milk coffee stool softer suppository but i ended up having to use an enema it sucked but i finally got relief
Avatar n tn i agree, the only 2 times i have ever done an enema was when my ob told me to do one the day before my scheduled induction for labor, and i would def not do it to lose a few pounds, because as soon as you go back to your normal diet you will pack it back on, and not to mention they are not that fun. i cut out soda and lost 10 pounds just from that and started drinking instead.

Avatar f tn I'm surprised your OB isn't treating this as serious. Did they feel your belly to see if you're all stocked up in there because that isn't healthy for you or baby. Constipation is common, especially in early pregnancy. You aren't supposed to use enemas during pregnancy but if you don't have a BM soon they're only going to suck it out in the hospital. A home remedy is taking chipped bar soap, about a half teaspoon and putting it inside your anus as far as it can go.
Avatar f tn I havnt been able to have a bowel movements in 4 or 5 days.. I hurt so bad so I went and bout stool softener and drink black coffee with chocolate bar.. what else can I do.. I'm in crying pain!
Avatar f tn If you don't want to resort to an enema right away you can also try glycerin suppositories and see of they help.

Avatar f tn How far along are you? Before today I haven't used the bathroom in over a week! I've done prune juice water and milk of magnesium and nothing worked. I even gave myself a hemorrhoid from trying to go :( I'm 40+5 and my doctor said for me to do a enema and I did today... I feel so much better!
Avatar f tn You can deny anything. I denied so much when I was in the hospital. They gave me packets of what the things were for and why to and not to get it and I'd read them and based off that decide to get it or not.
Avatar f tn ( ive also tried strong coffee, papya, honey and lemon hot water, prunes but couldnt keep them down made me sick.. idk what else to do ...
Avatar f tn Thanks ladies! The half decaf is a great idea. I'll do that most days and then on the really hard days I'll have a whole cup. Thanks!
6778631 tn?1396407123 For my first pregnancy I used flaxseed. I ate it in yogurt with oatmeal or pudding and it helped. In my case I needed extra iron so was given iron supplement and that caused me to got constipated. Maybe you can try that!!
Avatar f tn A large cup of coffee does it for me but if you're a regular coffee drinker it might not help. Sorry that is the worst but it'll pass.
Avatar f tn Apple juice (room temperature) and MiraLAX. You want instant relief, get a Fleet Enema and make sure it's saline. It's easy on the stomach and it's what the hospitals use. I have to give myself one every 3 days (per my doctor and home care nurse) due to my IBS and severe constipation because of the side effects of my meds to help my Hypermesis.
Avatar f tn Also stay away from coffee! and massively increase your water intake!
