Avatar n tn When you habitually vomit, you body remembers. The enzymes used for digestion are also being thrown up when you vomit. Although the body will clearly reproduce those enzymes, their productivity may be low. Also, your body is made to survive itself. If you throw up regularly, it would hold onto food longer as 'storage'. I was anorexic for almost 13 years and struggled with bulimarexia on and off within that period of time.
Avatar f tn I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives. From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months. Most of the time, if I recognized it fast enough, Cipro would clear things up and prevent things from getting worse.
571167 tn?1223214465 I have worked with youth in placement for 18 years, and these medications do not make any significant difference in their judgments because they do not change their value system. These meds cause hostility, restlessness, digestive, vascular (varicose veins, hemrhoids, and varicose veins in the scrotum--infertility), urinary, reproductive (impotence), digestive problems, sleeplessness, ticks, stiffness, and more! The bottom line is that the drugs make them money.
Avatar f tn The worst thing is to lie down soon after eating. There are several natural remedies that can help, such as aloe vera juice, a form of licorice called DGL, slippery elm, digestive enzymes and other things. Anything such as mentioned in the post above should only be used, if possible, on rare occasions, as repeated use will cause rebound acidity that will make it worse in the long run. The natural remedies don't do that.
Avatar f tn are hard on the digestive system. Hence it causes more stress on the digestive system. Stress also make one to not eat properly. Eat more fiber and fruits, cooked vegetables. lite excercise, and talk with your doctor about stress. You can also start eliminating stressors yourself. Meditation, picking your priorities, and getting enough rest, and eating lite meals through the day, even possibly support for stress...to help you get started on a path to overall health.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm frustrated and really need some advice. I've been having constipation and it's making my life miserable. I had an upper gi & endoscopy test Jan 08, return normal results.
Avatar n tn The doctor prescribed me with medicine that slowed my digestive system down and that seemed to work, but then told me because I am so young (25) that I needed to get off of it. He told me to come back in a year and we will reaccess the situation. This left me pretty pissed off, I have given this man hundreds of dollars in the past few months to be left with nothing.
Avatar n tn Yes. I have had awful ibs since I was a kid. Since I've been pregnant my symptoms have lessened dramatically. It's like the one relief I've gotten during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Erythromycin is notorious for goofing up the digestion. All in the world that has happened to you is, antibiotics kill all the bacteria, the "good" and bad, both. You need the "good" bacteria in your digestive system, to help break down waste. So, to restore good bacteria and thus better digestion, you need acidophilus, which is the probiotics you mentioned, and you can buy it either as acidophilus milk or "Activia" yogurt, in the grocery store.
Avatar n tn This is actually a bird forum so I'll have this moved to the proper forum. I know there are other pregnant women experiencing the same thing. They'll have a lot of suggestions, things that work for them. You don't want to take a laxative for any length of time. Usually increasing the fiber content in your diet (fresh fruits and veggies, whole grain breads and cereals, etc.) plus lots of fluid (coffee and sodas don't count) help quite a bit.
Avatar m tn I have always been led to believe that for every cup of coffee that is drunk, one must drink 2 glasses of water to compensate for the dehydrating effects of the coffee. That makes the daily water intake HUGE!..l keep thinking of the line from a Bob Dylan song...'one more cup of coffee before l go, to the valley below'...off to make a cup of coffee..extra strong!

1472764 tn?1287588186 I had a a miscarriage a week ago and since then my digestive system has gone crazy. I had no problems but a little afternoon and early evening sickness when I was pregnant. But now after the miscarriage I feel bloated and sometimes a little crampy and naseaus and my stool is soft. Sometimes I feel like if I eat I'll get sick and if I don't eat I'll get sick. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I stop it? I've been taking tums and gaviscon.
