Decaff contains little to no caffeine while regular coffee contains high amounts of caffeine. Caffeine can cause MANY problems. I would name them all but it would take me a very long time. Look at this website for further information on caffeine and the side effects it has. Some you have probably already had and didn't even notice. While others take a long time to happen. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn Caffeine is in the same family of broncho-dilaters as theophyline. Coffee, tea colas... can help relive asthma symptoms. I seriously do not recommend using caffiene to control your asthma though. I did that for several years. The stimulant effects of the caffeine can be really bad. There are much more effective medications available that have fewer side effects. God bless.

Avatar f tn You could try switching to non-caffeine containing herbal coffee, that is associated with decreased side effects. If this does not seem to help or you have trouble switching over, I would recommend seeing a psychiatrist for a de-addiction program. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn Yet caffeine may exacerbate the effect of stimulant medications, creating anxiety and heart palpitations. You can’t determine what’s causing these side effects -- the stimulant or the caffeine -- unless you gradually wean yourself off caffeine before starting stimulants. (Try to do it a few days in advance, though, so that you don’t mistake a headache due to caffeine deprivation for a medication side effect.) “Some people can tolerate stimulants and still have some caffeine,” Weiss says.
Avatar n tn Hi - I am a 40 year old female recently diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I am a huge fan of anything with caffeine - I love coffee, tea and diet soda. I've been told to lay off of the caffeine but can't seem to find any information to support the notion that somehow caffeine intake is detrimental to my 'condition' and well-being. Thoughts on the subject are most appreciated!!
Avatar m tn But a person with ADHD has major dopamine problems which the adderall addresses. The caffeine effects you like it would a normal person (of course, depending on the amount) while the adderall just brings you back to normal (kind of). Does that make any sense?

Avatar f tn Wow. I turned 35 in May and lately after I drink coffee I get really weird. I feel like my body is trembling. Befor that I'd drink a 16oz coffee every morning with no side effects that I could notice. I've also been drinking it since I was 19. So 35 is the "it's all downhill from here" age I guess!
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm 32 years old and my husband and I have been trying to concieve for about 5 months. I feel really dumb that I didn't realize how coffee / caffeine can impact our chances of getting pregnant. I do drink a lot of coffee while at work - almost a pot a day! And I've had this habit for at least 2 years. Now that I understand just how much this could effect us, I'm starting to panic.
Avatar f tn You can have caffeine but in moderation. I am an avid diet coke, coffee, and tea drinker and I needed to cut back but my ob said it would be okay if I had only 1 6-8oz serving of caffeine per day (it also helps me relieve headaches). Also, if your worried, just switch to decaf!

Avatar f tn I see in the articles where coffee supports liver function in cirrhosis as well as possibly attaining SVR whilst treating Hepatitis C but seemed to overlook the article where coffee eases the side effects (while treating the virus) Do you happen to have the link for the article about how coffee eases the side effects I'm just curious if it is coffee per se or perhaps other caffeinated beverages such as green tea (or whatever) would apply.
183202 tn?1219853659 s anti-anxiety effects? What exactly does caffeine do to the drug? Does it null it completely as if the benzo is not even in your system? Or does it just deplete its effectiveness, and for how long? Is there a duration of time (ie: the caffeine leaving your system after consumption) or does it affect it in the long run? Has anyone experienced anything from taking caffeine while on a benzo.?
Avatar f tn They say caffeine in excess can also cause miscarriage in early pregnancy. Everyone I know drank as much caffeine as they wanted while pregnant and their babies were healthy. Doctors say some caffeine a day is okay (about five 12oz cans of soda a day or about 250mg of caffeine a day). I cut back my caffeine intake a lot during the first trimester, and now that I'm in my third I drink more caffeine (still not a whole lot though).
1298588 tn?1330318981 As a lot of you probably know, I deal with tachycardia on a regular basis, and have been making any kind of lifestyle changes I can think of in an attempt to minimise my episodes. Most importantly, I have cut out caffeine. I used to drink coffee in abundance, but not anymore. Some of the worst episodes of tachycardia I have experienced have been triggered by that delicious yet troublesome substance, caffeine, so I started to avoid it altogether.
