coffee

Avatar f tn I love my caffeine. I cut wayyyyyyy down but how much caffeine is a safe and ok amount to drink?
Avatar f tn A small cup of coffee is fine. Avoid herbal teas since many herbs, including chamomile, aren't safe in pregnancy. Peppermint is fine.
3053649 tn?1356365017 Lol well your suppose to only have a specific amount of caffeine a day, the doctor says a couple cups of coffee is fine. Personally, I didnt drink any sodas with caffeine in it. And I stopped drinking coffee cold turkey. BUT, once I got into my third trimester I started drinking a half a cup of coffee in the morning cause I missed my mornings where I drank my morning coffees lol. So half a cup a day for me.
Avatar f tn coffee, teas, sodas (Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew to name a few). Decaf drinks do have a minimal amount of caffeine, however, they are safer to drink. Suggest increasing your consummation of water, which is a healthy benefit. Thank you for your question.
Avatar f tn Too much caffeine also cuts down on blood flow to the placenta, and you don't want to do that because the baby won't be getting as much oxygen or as many nutrients. women in their first trimester has shown a doubling of miscarriage at 200 mg of caffeine per day. That's about the amount of caffeine you'd get if you drank 2 small cups of coffee or 5 cans of caffeinated soda. Women who drank 200 mg.
Avatar f tn Just be educated on the amount of caffeine in your drinks. Starbucks coffee has WAY more caffeine than normal coffee. (300 mg compared to 120 mg) but their lattes have less caffeine, you can lower that even more by doing 1/2 caf. For me it keeps me from getting constipated, WORTH IT!
Avatar f tn Actually ure ob will tell u no caffeine but ive also been told that theres a SMALL certain amount u can have per day or per week but i dont remember the amount since i cutt it out wen i found out i was pregnant
Avatar n tn My dr told me that as long as I don't increase my caffeine intake it is ok to drink the amount that i was drinking before I got pregnant. I'm 23 weeks and everytime I go to the dr, dr says baby is very healthy. I only drink 1 soda a day or instead have a cup of coffee. Other than that I drink lots of water.
Avatar f tn In the beginning of my pregnancy i drank a lot of pop cause its all i craved until my cousin yelled at me. It can cause still birth (caffeine) so i completely stopped the caffeine drinking. I only drink sprite & gingerale if i want pop. I hate coffee so thats not a prob for me. Id say try drinking pop with no caffeine. I drank a coke the other day and through it all up.
Avatar f tn Ive never heard of long term affects a safe amount of caffeine has on the baby. I drink either a coffee, or once a week a pop instead. This is my third pregnancy to do this. I just steer clear of mountain dew cause it has higher caffeine and i only have one or sometimes two regular sized cups of coffee a day.
Avatar f tn s equivalent to the amount of caffeine in one cup coffee.
11157192 tn?1430159059 Caffeine is safe in moderation. 200mg or less a day shows no increase in miscarriage or other complications. One cup of coffee supposedly averages at 120 mg/cup. That's a lot of caffeine for a small amount of liquid. I've started brewing my coffee with less grounds (like half what i used to use) so that I can still enjoy several cups without worrying.
Avatar f tn I drink soda still not everyday but probably close enough lol and as for coffee I only drink decaf but thats cuz the caffeine upsets my stomach.
Avatar f tn Yes, you can even have two! The studies that show caffeine can cause miscarriages involved giving pregnant mice the same amount of caffeine that's in like 20 lattes.
Avatar f tn Google the amount of caffeine in the type of coffee you drink. I switched to decaf dunkin donuts coffee it only has 18mg of caffeine.
Avatar f tn Yes its ok,we are allowed up to between 200/300mg of caffeine a day..
Avatar f tn t good for the baby, I used to drink a 20 Oz espresso every day, but the Dr said that about the cup of one cup of coffee is okay, as long as you are not exceeding 200mg of caffeine, that applies to tea too. And absolutely no energy drinks. I completely stopped drinking coffee all the way and I was the biggest addict.
1123420 tn?1350561158 Most doctors, mine included, say that a small amount of caffeine every day (usually between 200-300mg which is equivalent to 2 cups of coffee) if fine. I usually have one a day and was told to enjoy it.
Avatar f tn The recommended amount is 400mg of caffeine a day.
8647560 tn?1415198470 You are allowed two cups of caffeine a day! I drank coffee towards the middle of my pregnancy, but it made me sick every time :( sometimes I exceed the allotted amount of caffeine daily that you can have, my little girl and I are doing just fine! I don't really think it's that big of a deal, there are much more harmful stuff you should worry about and avoid besides caffeine.
Avatar f tn And Starbucks has twice as much caffeine as other coffee so be aware of that. Too much caffeine can cause low birth weight.
Avatar f tn You are allowed like two cups of coffee a day. I have stopped drinking it too but a small amount a day is still allowed.
Avatar f tn You can have caffeine during pregnancy but they recommend only a small amount 200-300 mg daily. Some people will say to avoid it during the first trimester because they worry about miscarriage. It is OK to have just limit it and avoid it when you can cause if you are feeling jittery with caffeine so is baby.
Avatar n tn I had to cut out all coffee and caffeine due to acid reflux with my last pregnancy, so I never fully got back to regular coffee. My doctor had said a cup a day was fine, but recommended the least amount possible.
Avatar f tn From what I've read, caffeine is ok under the amount of 300mg a day. I buy Folgers half caff brand coffee so its already mixed and drink 1 to 2 cups a day. 3 days a week when I work, I also have 1 cup of regular. I don't drink pop alot, but once in awhile a Pepsi with certain dinners. My kids are fine, they are very active, but I don't think that has anything to do with the caffeine i consumed when I was pregnant, just their personality lol.
Avatar f tn I am 6 weeks along and all of my friends (who are moms) keeps telling me I should stop drinking coffee or switch to decaf. Here's my thing though I don't drink more then 2 cups a day so is coffee that bad for the baby? I dont have my Dr appointment for another two weeks so I thought I would ask around.
Avatar f tn Im 21 weeks pregnant and i had to go to the hospital because I passed out at work and my dr said that u need about 200 mgs of caffeine a day so he told me to have a soda or a cup ofcoffee my blood sugar was low and he said that it has just the right amount of caffeine and sugar that was about 3 weeks ago so I've been having a soda and a cup of coffee a day and me and my son are doing great no more fainting :)
